  1. Well damn, I guess I put my foot in it - LOL - Anyone want to buy a belltech front sway bar  Thanks Guys for the comments on the truck. I hardly ever drive it, it sits at home covered up unless on the weekends when it's nice out. But I do want to get it finished and move onto some honeydo projects at home - well ok finish my home theater is not really a honey do but it's on the list as well.

  2. Well I was trying to decide on engine or suspension first and I chose suspension, brakes and tranny first. So I ordered the belltech 2/2 drop (I tow in the summer a bit) as well as the belltech sway bar kit with the street shocks. I am doing the tranny with the all the components from the how to and I will hopefully get my z06 brake upgrade done this year or over the winter while it's in storage. I store it at my shop so I have all winter to work on it. The parts should all be in next week. so the next pic it will be a little lower with the sway bars and tranny complete and a fresh wheatley tune for the whole package. I really want to pull the box and front clip when I do the motor so I can clean up the frame anyhow so that will be another winter project. I also picked up the sub box for my dual 10 alpine swr's and my new alpine PXA-800 processor and back up cam finally came in so I can complete the stereo as well this summer I hope.

  3. Hey All,

Is this basically the same kit as the shift-kit how-to write up but with everything in one Kit. Is it possible to install without removing the tranny. There is a Lot to it compared to the HD-2 kit. the shop putting it in seems to think the tranny has to come out to do the complete kit.

  4. Hey All,

I am trying to decide if I want to S/C my SS (04 AB 100K Miles) or do a 376 or the like drop in Crate Motor. I would love to do a 427 but $$$. What's the conclusion for a NON-Daily driver. I bought the truck 2 years ago and have put less than 3000 miles on it in that time. It just sits in the driveway looking SEXY. I think I have had about 10 notes on the windshield asking me if I want to sell it. I was also thinking about a CTS-V or 6.2 S/C drop-in. Opinions are much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Dave

  5. stg313 - you can say that, I,ve done payables at the shop twice and held back on paying there bill because of that. I have already submitted a claim with my rep over the damages. We will see what happens. The shipper cannot be blamed completely they really should be boxing the hoods better, it basically is a box surrounding the hood and two frames for the top and bottom supporting the hood the front and backsides have no support at all. Chris's job on crating the tonneau was amazing and I am in awe on how the shipper damaged it dead center on the top side.

shawnss - I am thinking 2/3 drop for now. When it gets closer to the process I will think about it some more.

ssblue24 - the tires are 285/45/22, they were on the rims when I bought them and almost new.

  8. Finally got my hood and cover installed yesterday. The hood I have had for 2 months it was so badly damaged in shipping that it took that long to get repaired and painted. Paint is waterborn matched to the vin of the truck. The speedsturr I got from cyriusmuscle here on the site, thanks Chris. They managed to damage that in shipping as well but just scratched clearcoat. So my painter will fix that in the spring when we wet sand and buff the truck. All in all it is rockin... along. Getting it put away this weekend BUT I will still be able to work on it over the winter so next in line are lowering, z06 brakes (thanks Rudy) and finish the stereo. sorry the truck is dirty. I will wash her up today before it goes away.

  9. Hey All,

Got my Speedstur tonneau cover in last week. Thanks cyriusmuscle, I have my lo rider elite for sale. I am asking 550 with all hardware on Kijiji. I would take 450$ from an sss member. I am in Ottawa Canada and would prefer local pick-up on the cover. shipped it would need to be crated and I am sure would end up being a couple hundred pounds and 8' x 7' x 1' dims. even by truck it would be a few $$$. It's in great shape a couple small scratches nothing major and the cover has one lock with key included. Will get a couple pics on here later.

    Thanks,

    Dave

  10. here are a few of ours.

The first is our 10 yr old golden Buddy, We had to put him down last fall after a year of 400$ a month meds for his hips, but we could not save him with any meds or operations. That is my Simaese cat "Kitty" in the background wrapped in the blanket she was a rescue I traded a piece of computer memory for her back when 4 Gb sticks were about $200. but with 4 other large dogs and a houseful of cats I would have taken her out of there at any price.

The 2nd is our cat RAMBO we got him at a pet store as a kitten and still at 18 yrs old he would nibble on my wives ear lobe at night, cat got more action than me - LOL.

And finally the one one we have left is our chocolate lab "Mercury" Murky for short, named by me as I race mercury outboards. He is just relaxing by the pool. he is 6 now and twice the size. when we got him both parents were on site and his dad was about 36" tall at the shoulders. it was meant to be though, I called on the night I saw the ad and the chocolates were all gone on the sat the breeder called me back and told me one of the people cancelled on the only male chocolate she had. We took buddy with us and introduced them. murky came running up to buddy first thing and ran smack dab into his nose.

  11. That is true, although I have seen cv joints that wear on an angle and clip the inner bearings and wear a groove in the track either in fwd or reverse but they usually click not grind unless they are really bad and then you will usually see a light blue grease on your rims from the boot being ripped badly. At your mileage it seems weird that either would be bad that is why I mentioned the backing plate. I have only replaced one wheel bearing on my truck and it was nearly at 170,000 KM. I have never had any noise from either joint ever but I do spray wd-40 on the boots at every oil change.

    rgds,

    Dave

  12. Well if it is only in mid to sharp right turns my thoughts would be the outer CV joint. Is it clicking at all or only grinding? another surefire check is that ABS light coming on caused by contamination of the abs sensor on that wheel but if it was just starting it may not be there yet. Wheel bearings should be grinding most of the time in fwd or reverse but it depend on load, Spider gears in the diff would be on turns as well. Do you see any rips in the cv boot. Have you check the backing plate to see if there is a build up of rust on the rotor or the plate is bent.

  13. Welcome Mate - LOL.

WOW!! I'll take two at that price. My wife's cousin moved to AU about 15 years ago to start buying old shacks and restoring them and has never looked back since. I almost went back when I got my automotive ticket when they were looking for all different types of trades, I think there was a place to live and a gov't salary available at that time around 89 if I recall but then my son came along whom I have not seen since he was three, AH the CDN child custody-support system (another story though) . Another cousin on my wife's side just got married here in Canada about three weeks ago to an Aussie and he was the greatest guy. It was a cool wedding she is italian he is aussie and there were people from all corners of the globe. They are in Perth or were as well until three weeks ago I think they plan on settling on either the east or west coast of Canada on the ocean, Are they in for a surprise trying to buy ocean front property in Canada. Anyhow good luck on your search and if I ever get down there you'll have to take me for a tour in that F/C. Now go find an Eric Bana FORD. LOL.
