  1. i also used carfax on my 03 ss, safe insurance that the truck is what it is.

look for the steering shaft (clunk), and if you it doesn't have a sunroof, make sure you test drive down the highway 70-80. I didn't and about a week later found out that the roof is very thin and flexable and at highway speeds and especally with wind that the roof towards the back would flex making very bad sounds. easy fix though with sound damper material

    overall, a killer truck

    good luck

  2. SO......

I'm finally gonna run the new Tundra tomorow night at the local race track. We are doing 100' drags as a fund raiser for Big Brothers & Big Sisters, and I wanna win :)

I'm pretty darn sure my truck is quicker than the Tundra, so thats not really the issue. However, i would like to shave as much weight as possible to be competitive with the other racers :driving: So far i've taken off the spare tire, tow hitch, removed all my junk out of the truck, jack/tools, and subs. I've got just under a 1/2 tank of fuel, so i should be down to 1/4 or lower by tomorow night... I'm just looking for ideas on what else to remove to save a few extra pounds.

I weighed the truck last night and it tipped the scaels @ 5440#, with 1/2 a tank and everything on or in the truck (without me+180#). I'm going to weigh it on the way home to see how much i saved by just taking off a few things. I want to leave the tonneau on the truck as i have nowhere to put it for the time being.

Also, what tire pressures should i use? I'm thinking somwhere between 32-28psi should work, I want grip, but I dont want too much drag... :banghead: (running the 20's)

    Thanks,

    -Cody

cody, your tire pressure sounds ok. other than the cover, one of the things that come to mind is possibly removing the passenger seat and maybe even the rear. if you could find a place for the cover, i'd remove that plus the tailgate. as you know it all adds up. generally for every 100 pounds lost, you'll gain a tenth of a second. good luck!!

  3. ordered mine with carpet. went to go pick it up and no carpet. then they try cutting me short 50 bucks on the refund for that

i bought mine about 3 months ago. the place was about 3hrs away so i called and the owner assured me that it was perfect and ready to be installed. anyway i got down there and the paint on the back of the spoiler was extremely coated with overspray, the front rubber seal was starting to fall out, and to top it off, the bracket kit sent was the wrong one. temp secured the cover the best we could and gaylords overnighted the correct brackets. as for the other things, i ended up fixing them myself. I was never offered a discount or anything. oh well.

  4. I have the same lid and love it.. The only thing I don't like about the lip is that its not square. So when the lid is down there is a gap near the ends. The middle of the lip on all of lips i've seen are this way. I might be removing mine since you can't see it anyway.

i also have the x2000 speedstur, the tailgate protector is not an issue, but mine has large gaps at the rear corners of bed. all and all a good looking cover
