  1. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to check pinion angle. I'm also fighting a vibration inthe rear going down the road and it's driving me nuts. I've already installed a 2 degree shim kit (fat side facing backwards) with no improvements. Brand new tires and fresh balancing as well.I've never measured pinion angle before but can't be that difficult. Let me know and thanks.

BradSS, Did you ever get your problem figured out?

  2. I'm looking for a used Corsa Sport or Touring exhaust for an 04 SS Silverado. I really don't need the tip but am willing to take what I can get. Let me know what you have or give me a call. Thanks Bill 724-612-5315 PGH PA

If you have another system that will work let me know what you have for sale. Thx

  3. So, i got in my 04 SS this morning and discovered the heated seat wouldn't work on the drivers or passenger side then I found out the power seat wouldn't work on the drivers side either. I checked all the fuses and they all seem to be good. When you push the heated seat button it does nothing. Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so how did they fix it. If it's a fuse issue can you guide me to which one I should check next? Please help! Thanks: Bill

  4. So I've been fighting this vibration due to lowering the back of my 04SS AWD w/ shackles. I discovered I have about 1/16 of play where my driveshaft slides into my transfercase. It appears to be more than normal from what I have w/ my other cars. Is there a bushing in there that can be replaced? Has anyone ever had a transfercase apart on one of these? Any recommendations/help would be greatly appreciated.

    -Thanks

  5. Well, I found out SS AWD's come w/ a 1 piece drive shaft so I have no carrier bearing or bracket to worry about. I did discover when I installed my 2 degree shim kit I put the fat part of the shim on the front of the rear end and not towards the rear as MR P recommends. This weekend I'm going to flip them around to see if it makes a difference.

  6. Hi guys: I was just checking out my truck and I don't even see a carrier bearing on mine. I did find a bracket welded to the cross member but no bearing or anything of that nature. I did find something interesting though. If I grab the drive shaft where it goes into the transfer case I have over 1/16 of play, more than there should be. I'm thinking that's the start to my problem. I also noticed when the previous owner lowered the truck and installed the pinion angle shims, he put the fat part of the shim to the front side of the rear end. I'm thinking these are backwards.

I'm a little concerned about not having a pinion bearing though. Any ideas?

  7. Leviticus,

I have the same exact lowering system and am experiencing the same exact vibration issues. I already installed a 2 degree shim but it didn't change anything. My next step is to try a 4 degree shim and if that doesn't work probably shim the transmission mount up 1/2 inch and see what that does. I'm about discusted at this point with it.

  8. Hi guys: I really need some help w/ my 04SS AWD. I've only had the truck for a year, but it's done this since I bought it. I have a really bad vibration under hard acceleration. The truck has 2" drop spindles and shackles on it so I originally thought it was a pinion angle issue. I've since added a 2 degree shim and it made no difference. It also vibrates with the stock and also my 22" wheels, so i eliminated that from the equation. It feels like it's coming from the back but I'm starting to think it's coming from the wheel bearings or front diff bearings.

The more I read on this site it appears the pinion angle is probably where the issue is. Any information anyone can provide me would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks: Bill Woessner: PGH PA

  9. Hi guys, I have an 04SS AWD and I'm looking to start modding the transmission. I've already ordered a Corvetter Servo for it. What else should I do to help the transmission last longer and shift better. I tow a car and trailer a few times a years so I want to make sure I can still tow. It's pretty much stock now, but hopefully not for long. Let me know what you think.

    Thanks

  10. I have an 04SS that I'm looking to do some minor mods too. It has 35K miles, flowmaster cat back, and CAI. I'm also considering an electic fan upgrade, and possibly a shift kit and servo change. Does anyone have any recommendations on who to work with on a tune? I'm looking for something with a quick turn around time. Let me know your thoughts. Also, if you have a phone # or email for the tuners that would be great.

    Thanks guys: Bill PGH PA

  11. when doing hangers and shackels the pinion angle will change no matter what. the beltech leafs have a shim so they will retain the stock pinion angle( ask kaotik1)

    Hi guys,

I'm I'm having the same issue with my 04 SS I've owned about a year now. When I bought it it was dropped 2'/2" with shackles and spindles. It does it with winter and summer wheels, so I'm confident it's in the pinion angle. I've heard alot of people of this problem. I've added a 2 degree shim in the spring but the vibration still exists while accelerating quickly. I'd love to get rid of this issue, so any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. It appears several people have had this issue, so I'm sure somebody has corrected the problem. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Bill

  12. looks great i cant wait to see it in person next weekend, i was thinking on doing the exact same drop to mine.

Looks good. Do you have any vibration issues due to the difference in pinion angle with the drop shackles? I have the same kit on my 04 ss and I'm attempting to correct this problem. I bought the truck lowered and tried a -2 degree pinion shim and everything and it still vibrates. I'm about to give up at this point.

    -Thanks

  13. Hi, Does anyone know what size exhaust is on a SS Silverado from the factory. I'm looking to install 2 mufflers (SLP) under my 04 SS and want to order the correct size mufflers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking of SL Loud Mouth mufflers. Thanks
