  1. Ok, I got my TruCoolMax trans. cooler today, now im in the market of getting a transpan. What has me confused is what transmission do i have? 4L60? 4l65? My truck is on 05 AWD SS 6.0L. Also whats a good trans. pan out there? B&M? MAG? HELP PLEASE!
  2. Im in the market of replacing my front brake pads & rotors. I found some Baer Decelarotor on summit for about 243$ But what pads should I use? Should I go with OEM or Ceramic? Semimetallic? Kind of in a budget here and Ive seen the brake pads and rotors go above 800$!. Thanks
  3. Does anyone know what the part# for a GMPP cold air intake is? I read the CAI thread and AEM and GMPP seem to stand out. So if anyone has part#'s and website where they could be ordered, let me know. Thanks!
  4. Im sorry I mean to say 60K not 50K. And when I got it rebuilt the service guy told me to change it in 30K to get any debris cleaned out. But when the time comes, would It be a good idea to add a lucas? Or just stick with straight trans oil? THanks
  5. Im debating on changing the transmission oil myself or taking it to the shop. Do I change the oil the same way I do to my 88 camaro? Drain pan, change fliter, change pan gasket, re-install, turn it on, put it in neutral, and fill it up? Ive also seen posts about using Dexron VI, seen some good things about it, but can it be combined with the Lucas trans. additive? Truck has 50K on it and the last time it was changed is when it had 32K. Sorry for all these questions, I love my truck and I dont have the cashflow to blow it up lol. Thanks
  6. Ive seen alot of posts about trans. coolers, but my question is which one is the best one out there? My 05 is just my daily driver from work and back, and I dont haul anything with it. Summers are HOT here in cali and where i work at, it can get up to 115*. The winter aint so bad lowest we get it 30* As of right now, the tranny tranny gets up to 200*(I think thats the temp for the middle line) What else can help bring the temp down? Thanks
  7. I live in bakersfield cali where it gets hot up to 115F and coldest 15F. My truck has about 55,000 miles and I use castrol 5-30. Its my daily driver from my house to work and also family vehicle. Should I keep using the same oil? Or should I switch to something else? Thanks
  8. Thats the thing, i dont know if its tuned or if it has a shift kit or a shifting problem? I purchased my truck from a GM dealer and i told the guy at the dealership that the truck shifted somewhat hard. My truck currently has 53000 miles on it
  9. Ever since i got my truck, i noticed it shifts hard. Ive had the truck for 3 years already have never done anything to the tranny except when the 2-3 band broke. But my question is I want to achieve a smoother shift and extend the life of my tranny. I seen upgrades such as tranny cooler, shift kit, servos. Im pretty sure my truck has a shift kit by the way it shifts, specially when the truck is cold and i have to take off in a hurry. Also when my truck is going from 3rd to 4th gear the gears seem to be to close, as soon as 3rd gear kicks in 4th kicks in also, cause the SES light to come on. Any ideas or suggestion would help, thanks!

  12. The truck was fine Before or After I got it balanced at sears it didnt do it until now, I heard its difficult to replace the pitman arm, but how about the idler arm? I got extended warranty on my truck but will it cover it?
  13. Just bought them last year, have alot of tread left in them, also If I recall when i took my truck to "SEARS" they told me I had a bad idler arm???!!

A couple of weeks ago I was getting off of work at 6:30 a.m. and started to take off home, around 40 mph my tires felt like they were bouncing my steering wheel was going left and right like if i was driving an antique car. But anyways i stepped on the gas and the "vibration" or "shake" went away. Came to a stop like and around 40 mph it did it again, so i braked and it stopped. Do you think its a balancing issue? 2 days before that I greased the truck. What I also noticed is that when im going 40 mph and I hit any little bump that seems to trigger it, and i feel all the bumps on my steering wheel now, any slight movement on the wheels i feel it on the steering wheel, wasnt like this before, what do you think?? HELP!!!!

  16. But it seems to cool off more when i have the a/c on? As far the fans go its dual fan setup not fan clutch, and another thing i failed to mention is that the coolant reservoir is a little bit black, is it from the excessive heat?
  17. Yeah I replaced it with a stock stat, as far as the cooling problem its a little bit of low/speed and freeway speed, at low speed engine temp is at 220* and trans is about 205 - 210, on the freeway its a little bit under the 220 engine temp and the trans almost remains the same
  18. Is there a way to get rid of the air trapped in it? After I added all the coolant I allowed the vehicle to get hot and I left the cap on the coolant reservoir off????
  19. Guys, I just replaced top and bottom coolant hoses from the radiator to the engine and the thermostat, also the small hose from the coolant reservoir. I also added a bottle of redline water wetter, but my truck is still right on 220. It seems to me it heats up more when the a/c is off. Also the transmission needle is right above 200* I guess this california doesnt help it either huh, im open to any ideas/suggestions/ part #'s!! thanks

    Low Idle

    This afternoon when I was in my truck i decided to turn on the a/c, when i started to slow down to make a right turn the truck felt like it was about to die, RPM was below 500, so i turned off the a/c and the truck ran great, even when slowing down for other turns, so I decided to turn it on again and it did the same thing, when slowing down it felt it was going to die. I use premium shell gas, I only got an intake, spacer, exhaust. I also noticed that my service engine light did NOT come on. What can it be?

I been looking in thunderracing.com and they got diagnostic tool companies such as MSD, autotap, hypertech, full throttle scanmaster, would you recommend any of them?
  22. What kind of diagnostic tools are out there for our trucks? I got a 05 Silverado SS and i been wanting to purchase a device or even software that will tell me whats going on my truck. I tried doing a search on the forums but didnt find nothing or i didnt look hard enough lol.
  23. I have an 05 SS with a Bose system. With my past experience with bose, i had to cut the stock bose amp speaker wires on my camaro to install the speakers i wanted. Is this the same case with the SS? The speakers i got now sounds horrible and im thinking of replacing all of them with aftermarket ones. Thanks
  24. Im planning on purchasing some high performance catalytic converters for my 05 SS, my question is what size cats? 2, 2.5, 2.75, 3? I live in california (i know emissions suck) so i want to keep it smog legal. thanks
  25. I took it once to the chevy dealer and they told me it had some type of mod because my truck was shifting hard and they told me to replace it back to stock it would cost me 1000 dollars, but thats how i got the vehicle, and no i didnt hit the tow button, but it almost feels like its in a "towing" mode.
