That all "bolt on" kit is a POS... if you ever see a full size vehicle with one in person you'll know why... the door, nor the points it mounts too were never intended to support that kind of weight moving in that direction. I've seen warped door sills, paint rubbed off of edges around gaps, water leaking from seals that no longer align, and all manner of problems arising from these so called "bolt on" kits.
To do a TRUE vertical door conversion it takes fabrication and some engineering... the cost of which, if done properly, could easily exceed $3000 on a truck.
Either way its a tired fad... jumped on like clear tail lights or spinners... any **** thinks they NEED to do this mod to fit into a custom crowd. Being custom has never been about doing what everyone else does.
You really wanna stand out at a show? Do suicide doors... thats fast becoming a lost artform especially on late model show trucks b/c so many idiots feel compelled to do vert. doors. :

bumpI have a LS, its in the process of the SS clone look
FBI makes a good steel roll pan that is wide enough to weld on, Sir Michaels is a bolt-on. If you are adding the cladding, there will be a gap, so a bser roll pan would be better.

btw...welcome to the site!

The 6.0 and 5.3 share the same stroke(3.622"), but the bore on the 6.0 is 4". You are right it is the same block, same bolt holes, and your blower will bolt right on but I'm not sure if it will be big enough for the 6.0.

Hey everyone. I am a new SS owner and was wondering which superchargers seem to work the best for these trucks. Please post your opinions
Use the search button. If you look through older posts related to this subject, you will see many people rely on the Radix fom Magnacharger. It is the most complete kit you will find, probably the most daily driver friendly, and can put you into the 500s in hp and tq. I have yet to get one for my Silverado, but many on here have them with nothing but good things to say about it.

Hey, man, I wouldn't do that to my truck just like these guys wouldn't do that to their's. Lambo doors are nothing but a "baller" fad, and just are not cool. If that's what floats your boat, though, it's your ride and not mine, so go for it.

I prefer up-facing, that's what I have, and in my experiences the bass sounds tighter, just not as "boomy", when compared to a down-fire. I don't have experience with a front fire, but before you switch boxes, try filling your box with poly-fil stuffing and see if that makes any difference. I don't know if it will help in your case, since your box is already pretty big, but bass has always sounded better to me with a stuffed box.

I am a big fan of two-tone with a contrasting stripe to break up the two colors. I also like flames and pearls are nice too. As far as the colors, that is just personal taste. How about pearl white over black with a red or purple or yellow (or something) stripe along the body line? Don't think I've seen that before. Paint jobs can get expensive so just take your time and make sure it's something that you really like.

All I hear is Shift kit, shift kit, shift kit! What is so beneficial about these things? What does it do to save our transmissions? Is it a perminant fix or a band aid? Will it allow me to safely remove tq management?
Thanks so much for your time!
Don't thank me, thank Zippy (for posting) and Mr P (for writing it).

That sh!t sucks dude. Happened to my 05 Silverado about six months after I bought it. Just wish I had seen the pos doing it so I could have given them a piece of my mind. Look on the bright side: if all goes good with your insurance(hopefully it will), you will have a brand-new paintjob.

Everybody has a point here. I was gonna go the pulley route as well, but after seeing the prices I said f**k that. Save your 280 bucks for something better. If you must know, this is where I was going to purchase it: http://www.rpmoutlet.com/gmsuvasp.htm

Yeah ive got a set im gonna get put on then im prolly gonna go to autozone and let them clear the code...
Anybody else wanna chime in on the driving issue?
I installed my LTs this past week and drove all around town with open headers trying to find an exhaust shop to weld a couple of flanges to my headpipes to mate to my headers (none of the shops had flanges!). I had the front O2s in but the rear ones unplugged. Aside from SES light and being loud as f*ck there are no driving issues that I could feel. Then again I was keeping her in the low RPMs to keep it from getting to loud and catching the cop's attention. No issues though, so you should be fine.

black out the grill and bowtie and u'll be set...

and as someone already said, paint the air ducts black, tint the 3rd brake, and it would look killer!

Looks like you had fun, but man I thought it NEVER snowed in Cali. Shows how much I know.

How about some pics to spark some more interest? I would like to see what the box looks like.

Magnaflow is good too. little rumble during regular driving and idle, and screams (maybe not as much as the Corsa) at WOT. Either would be good IMO

lmao! ! wasn't what I expected but pretty funny!

Wow...hey man that is looking really good. Like everyone else I can't wait to see it when it's all together and done.
