  1. 2004 awd ss K&N Cai, Corsa sport, Wheatley tune.

Up next is obx lt's, shift kit, and trans cooler.

Then??? lol. I am looking into a good N/A setup. i really like the xr275hr comp cam and would like a good set of heads to go with it. Or should i find some good heads and then look at a cam. Also i am a rookie under the hood. what else will i need to complete this project? im assuming injectors, pushrods and springs. but will i have to beef up the lower end or get forged pistons. Kinda short on money if that helps the recommendations

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Thanks guys.

  3. I had to think about this one a bit. What I gather here is that you want the race truck type sound with very good drivability and more power than stock. The converter was really a good mod for you with or without a camshaft for sure. I'd recomend the XR275HR part number 54-426-11. There are certainly more agressive cams out there, but this will do what you need it too. With the 3000 stall you'll have pull from the dig to a 6200-6400 range shift point and about stock like drivability to go with it. With good tuning you can get the idle down low enough that this thing due to it's 112LSA and large overlap will make for a very race truck type sound through your LT's and Magnaflow. The other nice thing with this cam is that the lift is down a bit from some of the newer cams making it more valve spring friendly. I'd recomend a set of LS6 springs or Comp 918's. Either have been proven to work fine with this cam.

Hoping to catch up on the list this weekend guys. It's been a while.

Hey Zippy do you have a part number for the 918 springs. looked at comps website just not sure which ones.

    Thanks

WCCH=west cost cylnder head they have some info about heads and porting.

I would also consider milling the heads to bump your compression ratio. Any time you are gonna pull parts off you should think about your entire project.

Cam swap at this time would make since and would allow you to match the head and cam.

Converter/trans mods to support the cam.

Labor for a head swap is not gonna be cheap...there is a certain amount of down time unless you find a great worker and have ALL the parts on hand. For instance when I was puttin gmy truck back together I went to buy the cam...little did I know they had them ground to order so I had to wait three more weeks to finish the swap.

I just talked to my friend who has a 2002 camaro ss and he said that he has the stock heads of a lq9 on his turbo set up and said the 317s flow well from the factory. what benifet will i get from porting the heads. what i just did a cam. is a converter a must with a cam i dont want to launch at 2600 at every stop light.

p.s. i have the corsa sport and want the obx headers do you have a sound clip

    thanks

  5. i have a 2004 silverado ss with cai, catback, and a tune. Headers and shift kit coming this summer. I was looking into to port and polishing the stock 317 heads and a cam. Question is what all would i need to finish this project, and me not being much of a wrencher was wandering on labor costs. Dont really have the money to buy new heads, and i wouldnt know what the machinist to do with the the 317's. any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  6. Just bought an ss yesterday, and have no idea what you all are talking about with shift kits and servos. Just wondering what they do (detail) and how much differance they make and about how much they run. The only future plans i had was running (slp) headers, (slp) exhaust, and an (slp) cold air intake. I would really appreciate some of yall (im from Kentucky) to explain, and were to find some information about these parts.

    Thanks
