My 1 7/8 American racing headers went right in. I didnt have to modify the truck or the trans to exhaust mount. I didnt need any extensions either. The only thing i had to do was tweek one hanger a little in a vise to get them parallel. My tail pipes both ended at 3in straight tubing to mate to a custom exhaust. All in all it went smoother than expected. I helped my brother install some in his Jeep srt8 this weekend-Now that was a major PITA!!!!!

No performance gains. Stick with the stockers they work just fine.
-
This looks like it would be a great addition to any SS. You can get the trans controller with it also. http://www.tciauto.com/products/6x/

Congrats! If your in cali you gotta go to in-n-out burger. Also if you like mexican there is a El Torito on Redondo Beach pier (south of santa monica) that is pretty good. Have fun.

When I gutted my cats I didn't see any improvement in times. If you cut them out and put a tube in it's place it should be better. Since then I have gone to a headers- no cats set up.

I use a ZEX sysem. With a 75 hp shot I dropped 1 second in the quarter mile. The kit is really easy to install and only has 3 wires: 1 to a switch, 1 to a ground and 1 the a TPS wire. It learns where full throttle is. A window switch could be added also if needed. 2 thumbs up for ZEX!
-
That doesn't sound like a sending unit. Sounds to me like your gonna be pulling the oil pan on that bad boy to change some bearings.
-
Hows the install coming along?

I looked in the inlets and there was an x right at the entrance and yes there is a y at the outlet. Its funny because I dont see anything on their website about that muffler having an x in it. I took the front muffler off but now it is too loud so I'm putting it back on. If there was only 1 x in the system it would probably be perfect.
-
We'll guys its quiet. Too quiet. I'm taking the front muffler off tonight. One thing I was surprised to see was that the rear muffler had an x in it when I cut the tubes to reposition them. At least it doesnt have any drone at this point.

I'm jealous!!
-
The tailpipe is 4 in. I saw how you had to fight some noise thats why I'm doing this.
-
I saw what Moregrip did with his exhaust a while back. He used 2 mufflers after an x and then a dual 3 in/out and dumped it at the bumper. I have the mid pipes on now and it still sounds like a Top Fuel car when they first start on alcohol maybe louder.
-
I'm not gonna argue that a muffler has the same restriction as a straight through pipe. I wasnt born yesterday. I just dont want to wake up the neighborhood using 2 short 3" mufflers. I believe with this system the performance will be there.
-
Trust me those muffler are straight through there is basically no restriction in them. It'll be just fine especially since it is 3 inch pipe. It was 2.5 yeah then it might be some restriction.

I've been thinking about installing headers for a while now. When I saw the American Racing Headers I had to have them because of the 1 7/8 and 3" mid pipes. I am trying to keep the noise tolerable so I am using 2 mufflers a 12599 magnaflow with built in X and a 15789 kit for the 2500 truck. So far I have put the headers on and moved 1 mount on the tailpipe. I have some fab work to do on both sides of the first muffler to connect everything. Here are some pics of the work in progress.

I saw those on TV last weekend. A bit expensive.
-
My 6.0 had egr. I just made a block off plate.
-
When you get it on let us know how much boost your getting and pulley size. I'm thinking about upgrading in the future. That is a 1900 correct?
-
Here is one of the mufflers I am using. This is the one with the X in it. The second muffler will have a single 4" out let.
-
Those are some pretty short mufflers. The larger the muffler the quieter it will. That Magnaflow 12599 I was talking about is listed as a 5x11x22 but it actually measures a little larger. Adding length the your system should help quiet it down also. I am going to have 40 inches of muffler under my truck. If I were you I would move that X forward, move the 2 xr1 mufflers forward and put a larger muffler where they are now. Magnaflow makes a 5x8 dual 3 in/out straight thru muffler that should work nicely. BTW nice truck
-
Do the 3". I have a set of 1 7/8 AR Headers coming also. I am using a dual 3" in/out x pipe magnaflow muffler(12599) and then to a dual 3" in to single 4" out(15789kit). I don"t want it to be to loud. Let us know how yours comes out.

I wish I could make it. I live only a few miles from the park. I will be out of town this week end. I go to most NHRA races so it is difficult to make most events.
