  1. Hey all. I am gauging interest on my black '04 SS. This truck has been great to me but I no longer really need to bed space and I'm thinking about going with something that's a little cheaper on insurance. Overall this truck is in fantastic shape and it's absolutely beautiful.

    Specs:
    2004 Onyx Black Silverado SS
    71,000 miles on the odometer
OnStar, XM, Dual Climate control, and Chrome wheel options
Extremely clean inside and out, non-smoker, looks brand new
New brakes (R1 concepts slotted rotors and ceramic pads) on all 4 corners at 70K
Yokohama Avid SUV tires with lots of tread left
Only mods are HIDs (that look stock), tint, and a nice spray in bed liner

I am asking $16900 but would be open to reasonable offers. I am not interested in trades.

    Edit: SOLD

  2. VR4Rob, you definitely have the same problem. That is quite a bit of metal in the oil. In my case I believe that if the locking tab would not have broken the IFS would still be functioning fine today. After inspection of my dismantled unit not every part in the unit was destroyed. It needed all new bearings, and seals. The case, carrier, axles, and side (spider) gears, were all fine. I did not want to spend all day rebuilding it, and purchasing all the tools to do it correctly. In the end I would have spent close to the 750.00 in tools, and parts. So I decided on the rebuilt unit. If I have any issues with the rebuild unit I'll post it here.

What rebuilt unit did you end up going with? I have read several people talk about the locking tab... where is it and what do I need to look for? I'd like to poke around some more this weekend and do some further inspection on the diff.

No kidding about all the metal in the oil. I'd poop a big old brick if that came out of my motor :uhoh:

  3. Hey guys, hopefully I have a pretty simple question here.

I have been searching the forums for answers on brakes and found a lot of different information. My truck is an '04 AWD SS and I just want some good, stock sized rotors for my truck. I've already got some good Akebono ceramic pads for all 4 corners and now I need rotors. Looking on the Autozone website, it shows they have Baer decela rotors for the SS.

    Front:

For the rears, it lists two different possible rotors. 7200lbs GVW and 6400lbs GVW. I assume I need the 6400lbs GVW rotors but I'm not sure.

So has anyone tried these? Are they any good? They are a little pricey but I figured they'd be quailty since they are from Baer and should look nice since they are drilled and slotted.

    Thanks for the info!

  4. I am selling my silver set of Silverado SS wheels. These will fit pretty much any 6 lug GM Truck (Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, etc.) They have stock tires on them, 275/55/20 Goodyear Eagle LS2s with less than 4K miles on them. The wheels are genuine GM wheels with centercaps, not knockoffs! I bought them to put on my '01 Silverado but only ended up owning it for 5 days so I took them back off. The tires are mounted and balanced and ride very nice. Just bolt these on your truck and you're good to go. 3 of the wheels are in great shape and the other is in very good shape, it just has some scratches on the lip from a botched balancing weight install.

I will sell them locally for $1100 and will deliver them up to ~100 miles from Auburn, AL. If you want them shipped, just let me know and I'll give you an idea on shipping.

My number is 334-233-5444, let me know if you have any questions. You can also PM me here or email me at vr4rob (at) yahoo (dot) com

Here they are on my old Tahoe.

  5. Very nice pics maybe they will make next years calender? What camera do you use?

Oh cool, I didn't realize that there was an SS calendar! 3 of my photos have been in the 3000GT/Stealth calendar the past two years. I shoot with a Canon Rebel XT with a run-of-the-mill 18-55mm lens. I wish I had a few grand to put towards some nice 'L' series Canon lenses (which make worlds of difference in picture quality) but I just can't afford them right now.

  6. :withstupid: that's arguably the best group of black SSS pics i've ever seen...awesome pics dude

Wow that's quite a compliment, thanks! These are just my first pics of the SS, I really look forward to shooting it some more. I have been into car photography ever since I got my VR-4 and it's grown into another expensive hobby :D

  7. My business partners live in Auburn I am in Lagrange. Howdy neighbor.

I bet you know the shop with the all wheel drive car dyno. Whats the name of it. I never can figure that out.

In Auburn? APR has an awd dyno but they don't let the public use it. There are a few places in Atlanta with AWD dynos, namely TopSpeed and Batlground.
