  1. I had a problem like this on my Crew cab. 2 months i went with adding about a half of gal of A/F every 2 weeks. had a slight smell of coolant when parked but no leak, no smoke, no lost of power nothing. well towed my camper of labor day weekend and things went south after that. ended up being a head gasket (TSB on the 05 5.3) went bad on the right head. not know and towing my camper did it in and cracked the right side head and started to get coolant in the oil. so long story short i had the dealer replace both heads and flush the system. 2 weeks later the wp went though the weep hole. my truck only has 43xxx on it now. not saying it the prob but just a heads up. you can alway put a pressure test on the system and look for visable leaks. hth Anthony

  2. ok guys i lowered my crew cab and now it sits like a ss and i sontr want to ruin the new shocks i have on it. i was looking and see that the ss shocks are a diffent part number and im guessing this is because the ss is lower then a 4x4 from the factory resulting in a shorter shock. now can i order shocks for a ss and install them on a 4x4?? i wanted lowering shock but there back ordered of a over a month and the shock i have on there now are only 6 months old so i dont want them to go bad by botteming out. thanks Anthony

  3. Im running them ive had them at stock and now at a 1/2 drop at stock i only rubbed at full lock in reverse on a hill. now they just rub at full lock in reverse. but other then that thats the only time they rub. heres a few pics

  4. well if u decide to not lower it more maybe leave ur current bars on there just get them powdercoated or painted black so they're not so noticable...

also u want to do an SSS conversion on ur crewcab, r u gonna do the cladding or just the front bumper and color matching??? lik firerescue said it wouild hit ur cladding but if u dont already have the cladding and might not have it then yeah not...

yeah doing a full cladding converison on it. going to be doing a dry run with out the bars or get creative and fab some brackets to make the power steps work thanks for the input.

  5. could always lower your truck more..........

yeah thought about that but it is a 4wd plus i still tow with it(camper, car trailer ect) so i really dont want to go lower.

Will this work? You can just roll it up in the cab. :jester:

    LOL

    :withstupid::lol:

    how short is short..??

my daughter is only 5'2, and ever since i have had the SS, and my 01 Z71 she has learned to grab the O-SH*T bars and jumps right in :D

BTW- some people :fume: over someone putting running boards, or step bars on a SS..i feel if you need to have them for someone to get in/out safely, then do what you need to do

    good luck on it..

    :seeya:

well my wife is 4'10" thats the big delima plus my parents and the inlaws ride in my truck alot so they also need the steps to help. going to do a dry run with the bars off this weekend and se how it goes.

    lower it some more
  6. Bought them, needs to be modded, hits the cladding, never used them. Never mounted them, just held them up and looked, the steps will hit the cladding durring the opening/closing operation.

thanks for the reply yeah i figer some mods had to be made. yeah was hoping the drop would make it so i wouldnt need them but still do.

  7. ok dont shoot me lol. i convering my cc into a ss unfortunatily even with the truck lowerd 2 " all the way around my short wife still needs steps to get in and out of the truck. so im wondering if the amp power step interfer with the the cladding?? plus they should hide pretty good behind the cladding. if anyones got pic it would help. thanks Anthony

  8. I don't have bose or onstar in my truck. What is the best adapter to use with the avic? Do the chimes still sound like the factory ones, or do they sound different? BestBuy said that the harness was over $100, but I can find them on ebay all day for less then $60. Any luck on teh ebay harnesses??

sorry for the delay. i used the pac adapter with the chime built in. i also dont have the onstar or bose i got it off ebay for 40 bucks. hth
