  1. same here im having a problem like that when i hit choppy like bumps is there a way to tell if there shot?

I just grabed the torsion bar where it goes into the adjustment keys, and lifted up and down it was actually pretty

easy to identify, only my drivers side bushing was shot, but i changed them both because the pass side was not far behind. They are kind of a pain in the a** to change as they are rivited to the frame. It also takes a torsion bar tool

and an air hamer to replace. Lucky for me i was a tech at the chevy dealer for 3 years so they let me barrow the shops torsion key tool which costs $200. I now work at the toyota dealer and on the lift it took me about 1 hr to change. I used grade 8 7/16 by 1" bolts in place of the rivets when i put it back together. I am a pretty seasoned tech and found this to be an easy job, but i would not atempt it on the ground without a lift. I checked the bushings on my back in the drive way with the truck on the ground no problem. I will post pictures next time i have my ss on a lift. Also my innner tie rods were loose and noisy along with my intermedate shaft, which i have replaced also. I only have 60k miles on my truck, after these repairs its as quiet as the day i drove it off the lot. Alaska is pretty hard on vehicles, but my chevy is worth every penny i put into her :chevy:

  2. I have been chasing a clunk in my 05 sss for some time now, last week i finally found it

Torsion bar crosmember bushings were the cause

these are the bushings where the torsion bar crossmember bolts to the frame

This is quite common i guess acording to the techs at my local dealer who had them in stock. I changed them out today and my noise is gone!!!!!!! very happy hopefuly somebody finds this usefull
