Is anyone using the HD tensioner on a Pro Charger or like setup? If so, what did you do for a bracket to get the tensioner to attach?
-
So nobody here that used a Pro Charger setup had to get a special bracket to fit the HD tensioner? There has to be a solution.
-
Ok, so I had a buddy help me do some looking and apparently we found the part. It is a Gates tensioner (for fords) and this is what people use when they put blowers on GM stuff like a Cadillac. Supposedly a direct bolt on replacement... NOT! It isn't even close. WTF, I'm so frustrated!
Edit: So there must be some kind of bracket to get this thing to bolt on properly. Anyone have any insight? I called Magnacharger to see if their bracket would work but they said no.

the HD tensioner is a ford part, you swap over your pulley/idler.
you could watch with trcuk running and have someone hit the gas and see what the belt does??
Still having issues finding it. Would anyone be so kind as to send me a link? Thanks.

Katech sells HD tensioners for pick up trucks(also F bodys and Vettes),I think Comp Cams also sells an HD tensioner for the trucks(I know they do for cars)
What manufacturers 200 amp alternator???It would only take a longer belt with a overdrive pulley, most alt manufacturers will tell you if they put on an od alt pulley.
I've looked at comp cams stuff and I haven't seen anything that suggests that they make anything other than a stock option or a manual.
-
i think it uses a shorter belt with a 200a alt...
Apparently a shorter belt was put on. Can someone explain to me a little more about this HD tensioner that people are using?
-
The spring in the tensioner could be losing some of it's load and not be keeping the belt tight enough at the higher rpm's or you may have stretched the belt somewhat. Have you tried a new belt to see if it does the same thing?
It is actually a brand new belt that is on there. I had my main pulley fall off about a month ago (I have no idea how) and I had a new one put on and a new belt at the same time. Have only driven maybe 200 miles since that happened.

Ok, It's been a while since I posted here, but just to recap, I have a 408 with a D1-SC ProCharger and I recently upgraded my alternator to a 200 amp. Also recently I have been having issues with what I believe is belt slip. I can accelerate at just under half throttle and I can watch my volt meter slip down to almost 10, and once I level off to a steady cruise it will come back up to 14. Then the other day I decided to step on it and the belt came completely off. I don't know if my tensioner is getting wore out, or if there is just too much resistance with the higher boost blower along with the high amp alternator, OR if the belt is just a tad too big now and I need to go to a smaller size belt. This is my second tensioner I have had on this truck because the first one snapped in half, but that was a few years ago. When I had to put my belt back on the other day after it fell off, the tensioner did feel like it still had good resistance to it and when I watched it while the truck was at idol I didn't see it move around at all, it stayed very steady.
Any suggestions? I also read a few posts of people using an HD tensioner but I have no idea what an HD tensioner is. Do you mean a tensioner from a heavy duty truck?

Wish I could go, but my truck isn't fixed yet Think I may end up going to the local Corvette and Chevy show this year. I haven't been to it in the past 6-7 years cause it always fell on the same weekend of Woodward.

$900 for CF hood...thats not too shabby.
Yeah, but how much weight does that actually drop just doing the hood?
Looks like the hood is meant for off road use only. Plus I don't want hood pins.
-
Thanks I would appreciate that. I was sort of looking just in general, but my truck was the main thing I was wondering about. Would be nice to drop some major weight off the thing, but then again what I had in mind is kinda a pipe dream.

Im looking for Body parts. Hood, side panels, door panels, etc.
-
I was wondering if there were companies out there that make Carbon Fiber body parts for vehicles that didn't come with them? If anyone has any information on this I would appreciate it if you would let me know.

Well, as those of you that went to the event could see, I was unable to get my truck fixed in time to be there. As a matter of fact we haven't even been able to take a look at it yet to see exactly what the problem was. The upside of it all is that I finally decided to upgrade my intake to better match what I have done with the rest of the motor. I will be installing something along the lines of Wilson Manifolds the LSX intake. Hopefully it should give me a little extra go go juice.

I have a spare transfercase...it might be worth it to get your truck to muskegon.
where you beating on it?? was it hot??
I guess its running good if you can brake stuff:)
It was just getting warmed up, so no it wasn't hot. I was going about 25-30 mph when i stepped on it. There was a very hard pull for about 2 seconds and then BANG, she broke loose. It was a sad moment

Well, I was planning on coming to the Zippy event in July, but I just broke down last night and I am not sure if I'll get it fixed in time. Not sure if I broke the transmission or the transfer case, but when the tow truck was pulling it onto the bed the wheels were all locked up. And I did have it in neutral and no parking break. Anyone know what that sounds more like it could be, transfer case or tranny?
I suppose it was only a matter of time before it happened, but I was hoping it would last a little while longer.

This sounds like it will be a good time. Muskegon isn't that far from me. I may have to make it up this year. Any chance we will have a class for modded and blown?

Where is your IAT sensor located? It isn't still in the MAf is it?
lol, I have no idea.
-
Well, I just recieved the Grenatelli in the mail. Apparently my engine guy went ahead and ordered it for me when he heard I was having MAF problems. Strange thing is, this one has a screen on it. I was expecting it to be wide open since everyone kept saying it was descreened. I put it in and took the truck for a test drive and I did notice a difference immediately. It seemed to have smoothed out and brought up the power curve in the mid range, at least that was my first impression. Only problem I have is that every time I start my truck, it revs to about 2,000-2,500 rpm. Is there something that I need to change in my tune to adjust for the new MAF?
BTW, my engine guy said that this MAF from Grenatelli is supposed to be the newest one on the market and is made for the blower.

Did Wheel to Wheel's website change, I cannot find it.

They are the best in my opinion, you made the right choice. You also have one of the fastest SSS trucks around, that makes it even more cool.
BTW, are you coming to the event?
Oh, when and where is the event, i guess I should check out the event page.
I looked around but Im not sure which event your refering to...

When you buy the sensor from LPE it should include the specs to set the maf settings at. You could send your pcm back to W2W if you wanted. I was just out your way a week or two ago and could have set it for you, sorry. You're about 2 1/2 hours from me. I wonder if anyone near you has tuning software??? If not I can try to set something up with you to help you out.
I have the tuning software, just haven't used it yet. I went to W2W to get my tune done because I wanted my tune done right. Last thing I wanted to do was burn up an engine because I didn't know what the hell i was doing, hehe.
-
You'll be able to drive it, but I wouldn't drive it too much until you had the calibration fixed. The maf calibration will be pretty far off.
So what should I do as far as getting it calibrated... I had my tune done 4 hours away from where I live.
