  1. So I was super psyched to see that shoutbox was back, just to go in it and find like 3 people. Where is everyone? Shoutbox has been down for almost the entire time I've been a member here, and all I've ever heard is bitching about how it's gone, now it's back and no one is using it!! C'mon people!!

  2. If you didn't move away, you dipshit, i'd have loaned you a set.

me too, mine have been up in the air for two weeks

Well f*ck me then, right? Doesn't matter, I couldn't find a good place near Manhattan to get them done, anyway. Idk anyone here in Lexington at all, let alone someone with wheels I could borrow. Not that I haven't thought about it. I might be able to borrow someone's car for a couple weeks. My dad lives an hour away, but his wife isn't using her Trailblazer right now... wonder how fast I can get it up to...

  3. My suggestions:

-Option to locate members my city/state, if they so choose to display their location

-Defitinely more emotiocons (I know it's stupid, but sometimes you just need the right .gif to really make your point :D )

-Maybe a different color every month or so would spice things up, Idk. What about different skins? Can forums running off this engine even support something like skins?

Idk, that's all I have. I don't have much experience in forums like this, so I don't know what separates the good ones from the shitty ones.

  4. Just a quick update, got the Volant scoop in the mail (Thanks Neil!) it's going on tomorrow. Also waiting on the diamond clear headlights in the mail (Thanks Chris). That takes care of my immediate need to mod, lol. Still waiting to powder coat the wheels. I got a few quotes from around town (looking at ~$100/wheel) but since it's going to take 7-10 days, I don't know how I'm going to get to work and back with the SS on jack stands. I'll post pics in a few days, if anyone cares.

  5. I have absolutely no interest in the dramatic aspect of this post, but I do have a question... I have only been here for 6 months, and when I first bought my truck/found this site, I was on it for hours a day, we're talking like 12+ hours of just lurking and posting. I had just purchased the SS, and felt like a kid in a candy store. I loved this site and still do. My question is, what would it take to make this site better? I read so many posts about how much this site sucks, especially compared to other fan sites. What do they have that SSS.com doesn't? Ok, I get the whole "shoutbox down" issue, but is there anything else? Are we still bitching about that? It seems like everyone has an opinion, but nobody has any suggestions. What do the mods need to do? What is it they're doing wrong? What makes other sites more successful? If nobody has any constructive ideas, how do we expect anything to get better? I may not know a lot about websites and forums, but I find it hard to believe that what separates our site from others is just crappy mods. Everyone is acting like the mods owe us something. And as far as being a supportive member, I wouldn't mind at all paying whatever the monthly charge is, an often as I use this site, I just can't quite justify it if it's just going to be a place for 90% drama/catfights and 10% trucks. I want to know what makes a forum worthy of the price.

And one thing I've noticed, other forums seem to be more relaxed, with more tolerance toward cursing and whatnot. Is that the difference? Is this site just too strict? I'm honestly trying to get to the bottom of this issue everyone is seeming to have. Just my $0.000002

  6. it all depends on a few variable . driver , tune , and power level. with all three in good check it will last a while.

now for best kit all in one , i would say get a 1900 tvs , the radix is the older 112 eaton which is a good product and a is proven kit but the new style blower (1900 tvs ) is going to get you more bang for your buck on a stock 6.0 it will make more power more efficiently . it all depends on your goals and wallet.

  7. Save money for as long as you can. It's gonna kill you doing it so it won't take long before you have to spend it. See how much you have at that moment and decide from there. Knowing you, it's gonna be about $10 and you'll go fu$king crazy and have to spend. But seriously, everyone has good advice, but in the end you'll have to decide who has the advice that best fits how you feel at that given time based on how much money you've saved up, then your plans will constantly change. You're like me....you can do some basic stuff but won't do anything that will require a lot of money to fix when you screw it up. So a lot of what you do will be dictated by how much you have in hand and how much it'll cost someone to do it or help you do it. I look back on the supercharged 03 i had and can't wait to get back to that, but if i had to start over again, i would buy it already done the same way, OR i would slowly work my way up to the blower. I.E. i would do things that keep me interested and show me modest gains with a dream of the end result of whatever i thought would be the last thing i would do....blower. Guys like you and I can be happy with 15-30 hp gains with fairly simple mods on our way up to the radix. That way, if you lose interest or your life changes, hopefully you've done things right and spent your money wisely so that you aren't really over your head or upside down in expenses on your SS. At the same time, if you plan it right, you still position yourself for a hell of a decent setup for that tax return you plan to blow on a twin turbo. Just my thoughts from a guy that has NO BUSINESS talking horsepower mods. BUT, i'm pretty qualified to comment on pissing away a lot of money on my SS's. Good luck bud. I'll look forward to watching this one. Hope you make it back around here sometime soon. Glad you're doing well.

Mike, you hit it right on the head. It's like we're the same person! And as you know (since I almost bought your blower/tranny) I have had the $$$ on hand for months now, I've just been waiting to find job so that I didn't f*ck up and drain the account and next thing you know I can't afford rent... So now that I have a job and my rent is covered with the $$$ I got out of my S-10, I have a couple grand to blow if I really wanted to, plus my paycheck. I'm going crazy!!

  8. When I got my custom tune through Black Bear Performance, I had a form to fill out asking exactly how I wanted everything to be set. I had him tune it to where the truck shifted harder, and now it really pulls away every time it shifts, like it's got so much power it just doesn't know what to do with it. I tuned it for 91 octane, since at the time I was living in Kansas and 93 was very hard to find. Now I still fill up with 93 every time, and she loves it. I had to ask Justin @ BBP and a few others what their thoughts were on reducing the torque management, and I think I ended up reducing it 75%, and 100% under the tow/haul setting (Which I have yet to use, I'm kind of scared lol). Of course, I'm only seeing an average of about 12 MPG city, 14 HWY, so you be the judge as to how efficient of a DD I've made, lol.

  9. You should be able to pick from a variety of setting tweaks... Everything from hard hard it shifts, how much torque management is applied when shifting, what octane fuel will perform the best, to what the new governed speed limit is going to be. What are you planning on doing with your new tow/haul setting?

  10. :withstupid: Stock pile parts. Use ur research youv been doing Roger and start gathering. Then when you get everything do it all at once.

This is kind of what I'm thinking, only on a smaller scale. I would like to add 2-3 things at a time, so I'm not getting a retune every other week lol. Keep in mind I'm not planning on taking it to the track very often, I just want to take care of all the little things like supporting mods so I can wake her up a little.

Also, I have to take installation costs into consideration, since I really can't do too much on my own here. I'm sure I can find a buddy or two every now and then to help out with minor installs, but that's probably about it.
