  1. I am assuming that the TR55's would be gaped correctly? . . and if i were to change plugs and wires should i adjust the tune or will it not really make a differance?

And thanks Bad aSS Silvy for that write up! as of now i plan on getting the same wires you run along with the TR55's . . . total damage is $130 is that a fair price?

  2. i have a 06 vmax 4x4 with intake, lt's, 3" exhaust into flowmaster 40's, 160 t/stat, efi live tune. i have used standard 5w 30 peisoil for the entire life of the truck (83,000). What do yall use what do yall think is best. i will be replacing plugs and wires and also wonder what is best (part numbers would be great) and are the flowmasters hurting me that bad. any other simple things that anyone would recommend would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

  3. Thanks yall i was goin to take it back to hime to fix and i will ask him about all this . . . . . do yal think i should go with a different tuner? . . . . i have had your mail in tune Wheatly and it was good and drove perfect but i did notice more power with the custom EFI and would much rather have a custom tune if i were near you i would go to you . . . . is there any other good custom tuners somewhat near north florida?

    THanks yall

  4. i wish i could post it up but i no way of doing that. i wanna say that he told told me he pulled some timing when he first trryed to fix it. i wanna say it has to be the tune and not the stall clutch cuz it started right after i got the tune.

What are some things i should have him check . . . i do know that i was the first "VMAX" he had tuned . . . is there anything unique about my truck that he may not be figuring into the tune such as the 4l70e instead of the 60 or 65e?

    Thanks 4 yalls help!

  5. I got a custom tune a while back using efi live and soon noticed my engine was slightly revving up and down a few hundred rpm (200 or 300) at 40-45 mph under light throttle, like the truck wanted to go into over drive and be at the lowest rpm possible as it should but it kept floating back up. however when I put my foot down just a little bit to accelerate the rpms drop down and the torque converter locks up and the truck pulls nice for what little bit of gas I give it. Took it back to the tuner (who is Doc. At EFIALchemy very reputable around northeast Florida) he adjusted the timing a little which I thought fixed the problem but on my way home it was doing the same thing but now from 48-55 mph. is this a timing issue with the tune? Or is something else the cause?

any opinions would be great cuz iam clueless

    THanks

  6. I have a 06 vmax with CAI, LT headers, and a custom EFI live. I increased the line pressure so would adding billet servos mess up my trans the same way adding a shift kit would without adjusting my tune?

I was going to get the 1-2 2-3 Superior / Fairbanks servo with 35% more holding power and the 3-4 Superior / Fairbanks Maximum Overdrive Servo that has 50% more holding power. is this too much, would a vett servo be better or just as good?

What exactly is the actuator and how would it help me?

    Thanks

  7. no the vette servo has more apply area than the stock one and the billet has even more apply area than the vette... Either one would be great. If you plan on doind a high stall I would recommend the billet

these questions may seem dumb but when it comes to trans i know nothing, but what brand on the billet servos is best and i just looked on the transgo sit and could not find my trans . . . it is a 4L70e right? i see 60, 65, and 80 . . .

    thanks

  8. Hey there guys first off just wanna say thanks for all the help. been on CTW for a while but now that i live in gainsville and have been going to the race track i find this site very helpful. i have been diving my 06 v max 4x4 from 0-65,000 miles and its stronger than ever. i hunt fish and need my 4wd so my truck will never have 20's or ride low lol sorry, but yall do make it look damn good. I have a lift and run 35" muds so that slows me down but i got some skinnies for the track and run a 14.5 with CAI, tune, LT headers with exhaust. lots more to come such as cam trans mods would love a supercharger but wouldnt we all.

Any guys from the Jacksonville or Gainesville FL area?...

  9. I have a 06 v max with the 4l70e and know every one has one but just to make sure i can do this with my trans?

also i have a custom tune with increased line pressure can i still do this mod without having to much pressure?

My goal is to make my 1-2 shift like my 2-3 shift, my 1-2 shift is very slow in the falling rpms into 2nd after 1st, were as when i shift from 2-3 it feels like it pulls me into 3rd very fast and firm. Whould this solve my problem could i have a tuning problem?

    thanks

  10. hey there zippy how about this . . .

    Year of truck:2006

    Model:Silverado vortec MAX 4wd

    Trans:stock

    Converter:stock

    Gear:4:10 14 bolt

Tires:35's but i run 245's at the track

List of current mods: K&N air intake, pacesetter longtubes, full 3" dual exhaust, and a custom tune using EFI live (stock injectors nearly maxed out)

mods to come: billet servo, shift kit, possible 4:88 gears, larger injectors, 3000-3200 stall. in this order

Goals for my truck: A good size 4wd that will run as fast as possible. thou it is my dd i am willing to give up some drivability for performance currently runs a 14.5 with small tires looking to run in the low 13's

  11. I hate to bring up a 2 week old topic but I said I would go to the track and find out and I did, it just took longer to get the street tires. I had the 245’s on the back with the 35” muds on the front and my toolbox still in the bed which is about 100lbs. and a little over half a tank.

I feel there is room for improvement, I defiantly think I could go 14.4s or even 14.3s the truck was hooking better later in the night

  12. well i will be going to the track this wednesday night so will post times later that night. i will be running 245's on all fore wheels so will do some 4wd runs and try droping the pis a few lbs to see if that makes it hook better in 2wd. with the small tires and a 4:10 gear i exspect a nice 60' time and mid to high 14's

so if boys want to have a lil fun with this lets see who can guess the closest time!

we have all seen Past Time so lock in your times!

    this could be interesting......

  13. i would have to say yes. The smaller tire will help your rotating weight out a bunch, you will accelerate faster, and it should help traction. I say should because mud tires have less contact patch on the ground, because of the lugs, giving you less traction, so your stock tires should put more surface area on the road giving you more traction. However a smaller diameter tire will spin easier because it plays with your final ratio, giving you less top end speed but faster acceleration up to that top end speed. And i think mud tires are a pretty soft compound, your stock tires might be harder. Don't be affraid to lower tire pressures a bit and see if that helps with the 60 foot time. if you can pull a low 2.3 60 foot i think you'll have your 14.9. your truck is pulling real hard down the track for a 60 foot like that. have you tried a 4x4 launch and then put it in 2 wheel drive.

yes it leaves hard in 4wd but when i try to put it in 2wd it just stays is 4wd until let off the gas at the end of the track. my times were faster in 2wd.i got rid of the tailgate all the weight i could.

i will go to the track this wednesday with the stockers and see what it will do.

about what psi should i run
