  1. The DEI SS supposedley has a different suspension (Teneco shocks, stiffer front stablizer, multi stage leaf springs). Ive come across reputable people (Chevrolet dealership owners, and DEI SS owners) and some say yes they do have a 1 inch lower, stiffer suspension than the regular SS model. Then Ive been told its all garbage, and all 2wds have the same suspension regardless it be a DEI SS or SS. Food for thought (scroll down to the Intimidator SS paragraph and their is info claiming the differences). Im highly interested in the suspension as I want a 1 inch drop, not 2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silverado_SS#Chevrolet_Silverado_SS From Wikipedia: Intimidator SS In 2006, Chevrolet released a special edition Silverado SS under the name "Intimidator SS" (licensed by Dale Earnhardt Inc.) to honor the late Dale Earnhardt. The truck came with several minor appearance upgrades (rear spoiler, embroidered headrests, intimidator custom badging ), a lowered ride height, performance suspension, two-stage multi-leaf springs, Tenneco shock absorbers, a stiffer front stabilizer bar and harder front jounce bumpers. This is a Collectors Edition truck. Of the 1,333 scheduled trucks, only 933 were made. These trucks were only available in Black Onyx exterior but could be ordered with cloth or leather interior.
  2. Very nice job! LED's over any others, their intensity vs power output is 2nd to none. But was waiting for the right setup to be done on the DRL's. Very nice once again sir. Was this truck f/s about a year ago? I was interested in it due to a family member who has spinal cord issues and will need a wheelchair in the future. I remember specifically an Arrival Blue SS with the Wheelchair accesibility. Please keep us updated on how they hold up! Love the truck, I actually like it with the SS emblems removed, sleeper look!

    Clean your SSS

I understand that. When I did rage my SS in the snow 05-07 I washed it down immediately when returning and wow, loads of sand in the most unexpected areas (for me at least) and the recieving areas (rear shackles, rear bumper, rear quarter panels etc). I remember washing my truck 3 hours after a bachelor party and started cleaning in my garage at 4am....No more does the SS see the snow. Leave it to the BMW generic.
  4. Great thread. Ive been interested in doing this and learned a lot about the situation at hand with others responses. Then again my build changes by the day....and so does which cai I want to get ha!
  5. Yes sir. ^^^I personally cant stand cheap crap on these trucks like plastidip, its an insult. x2
  6. I believe thats the real deal concept vehicle with all the info he has. I believe their was one made, as their are pictures of it on the internet showing the concept SS truck in both the model produced as concept vehicles: ECSB and the one that was put together in RCSB form (not produced). Also in those same set of pictures was the Tahoe SS concept vehicle. However, I do not know the dates when the SS concept truck was made....so that leaves a big question as it was the new body style at the time. Did it take GM 3 years to make the Silverado SS? I know their was the badass red Silverado SS truck that wasnt put into production with the older body style (not GMT-800 platform). Shawn you can probably remember the red SS truck as it was created by the guy at wheel2wheel. Ill have to dig deep to see where I can find those pictures of the concept Tahoe SS.
  7. hahaha, but stop scaring me please with that lost order LOL.
  8. Not taking sides on this one as I have friends on both sides, "why cant we all just get along!" 15SilveradoSS, what type of sound are you looking for? Deep tone? Or something that is quiet but can be loud when you mash the pedal? Corsa is most quiet (not mashing the pedal, but wot it will scream). Maganflow, Borla, Gibson, Billy Boat are great choices (these are all deep tone mufflers. Another question, are you looking to replace the whole cat back or just run stock pipes and swap in a muffler? I would highly recomend Corsa or Borla as they were/are GMPP products (Corsa use to be, Borla is now a GMPP product). You can also get a Borla Xr-1 sportsman and it does sound like the Corsa (Nascar throaty sound when you stomp on it, boat like sound cruising under regular cruising). But it also has a little bit of a deep tone. Personally I cannot stand deep tone mufflers as every person in town has a loud deep tone muffler and think their tough because of it LOL, its a joke. One stupid kid just got in major trouble due to a loud muffler on his 2500HD as he was doing stupid things. I told him a week before he got in trouble "take that muffler off, your going to get pulled over asap" but he was so smug he didnt listen. Now hes being kicked out of his condo. I also highly recomend Gibson. Just a tad louder than stock, and can give you the HP gains. Many options also available (rear exit in front of the tire, dual exits behind each rear tire, dual exits out the bumper, single and double exit out the passenger side behind the tire (like the stock system). Sorry to blabber on, but thought it might help you sir! Good luck modding!
  9. They were run through an amp. I cannot remember what brand company it was.
  10. Yup, those are the exact same symptons. Also had this issue with an '88 and '91 BMW 325iX with the K&N oiled conical filter. Im no mechanic but it seems all too familiar. But do check the other parts to make sure oil didnt get to them, if so you have a Saturday/Sunday project cleaning!
  11. ^^^Agreed. Water on belts will not cause a truck to sputter. Like stated, check your CAI and see if the filter is wet. Also is it an oiled cai? Might also be the problem if water got to your filter and put some oil to the TB or MAF. edit - I had the exact same problem on a 98 BMW that had some custom work being done to the intake and engine. We had flooding and went through a big puddle and soon after fluttered horribly. Kept acting up for about 24 hours but it was fine, it was a dry filter though not oiled.
  12. PPI components helped my buddy win the New England competition of stereos with a JL w7 8-inch, then we switched to 2 10inch woofers (this was a Jeep and could literally make a grown man cry thats how loud it was). Its like that LRAD sound protection, the system reached such high decibals that it would screw with your brain and make you break down, I really couldnt believe my eyes and then experienced it myself, WOW is all I can say. Other recomendation is Focal components. http://www.precisionpower.com/html-version/products/speakers/PC3-65C.html PPI's on ebay. I will be adding these but keeping the stock bose covers where possible http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Precision-Power-PC3-65C-6-5-3-way-Components-/200646808703?pt=Car_Speakers&hash=item2eb77b547f
  13. I wonder what the 1/4 mile is just for shits and giggles. Those things awd, 4x4, 2wd? Doughnut or wheelie time! Theirs a company over here that has some big Cat tractors like that, not as big but they cross a road where its 50mph then drops to 30, and then theirs a crossing for these behemoths....I get scared driving by in the SS I dont want to get crushed.

    New job

Sorry to hear of leaving the job, but like stated you know your stuff, have the product knowledge and experience, customer base that wants your tuning magic. You know Ill be in for a tune once I can drive again and do some minor mods. Then its onto a stronger and more powerful SS truck that you will be helping me out, wether its to make an easy/soft tune for me to get used to the high hp application the truck already has, or some questions about the tune you have in the truck already (and what you would recomend for my situation when the time comes). Good luck sir!
  15. My buddy just got a 2004 F-350 Diesel 6.0 and needs some work done (he just bought an EGR delete kit). Was wondering if any members know of a Diesel Shop or Mechanic that could do this in RI or near RI. He just got the truck so he may also be looking for this shop or mecahnic to do regular maintenance. Thank you in advance all.
  16. This was the highest rated hp/tq vehicle Ive owned. Granted driving M3's and various other BMW's but those are generic, you can buy another the next day. So when I got this truck I was learning my limits I didnt want to scratch it etc. The stock power was enough for me. I am now looking into just GMPP intake, and a Corsa. Im still stock since August 2005. But plan on buying another SS in the next year and it will be modded. Ive been offered a lot of money for my truck from the owner of my dealership as he knows its been babied and it is completely stock unlike the other 2 SS trucks that go to be serviced their (he complains about the Flwomasters on one). He also knows the sentimental value to me is beyond any dollar amount (for those members who know me and how I got my truck). Just my .02
  17. and its sad you jump on a bandwagon that you know nothing about. Kurt has been on here much longer than you. Some newbs just have absolutely no repsect.
  18. Ive sent a couple GMC's on my road and at the condo complex in town to Don and they came back to me and thanked me as they had handheld tuners and we all know the live/dyno tune is best with the right tuner. Their just mad they cant run my truck yet with their tunes in their 5300 Vortecs. Now Im curious to see how a stock LQ9 tune will run against a live tuned 5.3???
  19. No oddball here sir. The GMC Z-71 I use to drive rarely had Gibsons, I absolutely loved them. Just a tad bit over stock, but stomp on them and give a nice throaty sound. I have an issue with deep tone exhausts (severe migraines set in and I have to pull over and have someone pick me up and drive the SS home which scares me as they might crash or scrape it). What system do you have? I want the Super Truck exhaust but the cops will pull me over daily as it will exceed 95Decibals. Im thinking Swept side, Dual Sport, or Dual Extreme (what I had previously and no problems headache/migraines).Its either Gibson or Borla for now, Corsa will reign supreme in 2014 (yes Im ahead of myself). Only issue is some kid at a Condo down the street was doing shady things, had the Borla which dragged attention, and nows hes being evicted. So the Gibsons are very respectful in a nice neighborhood and dont cause complaints. I remember coming home late night also (midnite-6am) and not one complaint. Please post a video or post the part number as I cant find the DI/DO.Thank you in advance sir (thumbsup).
  20. Holy Canoli! Congrats sir!!
  21. ^^^Very well said sir. When I was able to detail it would be a 12-18 hour process. The last 3 hours were mostly trying to get the truck into the sunlight at every possible angle and looking at every single panel to make sure their was no residue left over. This is an extremely adherent polish, so alot of arm greese is in store when using this product wether its applying or wiping of the residue. Heres some pics of my SS with Nu Finish haze/swirl remover and their polish (crappy cell phone pictures from 2008). front bumper (haze/swirl remover did a great job) You can see the row of Arborvite trees just where the side panel starts to turn at the top of the bed, also my neighbors white Jeep Wrangler and their garage door Picture looking directly down at my hood with my garage door open (some people believe I just took a picture of the garage door). To this day I havent figured out the white spots on the hood as they only showed up in this photo And you can see my neighbors house just about 150 yards away where the bumper meets the passenger front quarter panel
  22. Ive used black box, turtle wax, multiple Zymols and they did not come close to the $5 Nu Finish scratch remover then the polish/wax applied. Ive also never had a wax last so long repelling elements. I know Adams and Zaino are great products, but with the right prep and careful slow detailing I get amazing results with Nu Finish. I swear by it also.
  23. The powercore is a 100,000mile rated filter with nanotechnology unlike the normal conical shaped cone intake. The powercore does not require oil, the conical cone does. Id personally go with the conical one and not the Powercore. But I would swap out the oil filter for an AEM dry filter unless Im driving in the dessert.
  24. I saw this on tv, but I must say SrtBrad your coverage/filming is better. Glad to see you back on the site sir! I just wish they had the brand new JSF/F-35/F-22 Raptor to escort the shuttle, or something like the stealth B2 or F117-A Nighthawk to show the progress in technology. Im also with GMJake, I think they were doing victory laps and burning fuel before landing.
  25. A sound clip of the exhaust and a picture of the headers should get you answers. If its a deep tone exhaust we can rule out Corsa and Flo-Pro.
