  1. I have them on mine. It was a little tight, especially on the drivers side. I had to reroute my trans cooler lines, they were laying right against one of the primaries.

all in all seemed like it wasn’t any worse than any others.

i went with the full exhaust headers to tailpipes.

  2. I haven't been around here a whole lot in a long time, but I had heard/seen some talk about decapping injectors. I haven't heard a whole lot of conclusive info, I'm just wondering, is this a legitimate option? I mean what are the pro's and con's? I've heard some people saying that they're horrible, just dumping fuel, that there would be problems with low rpm and idle tuning, but on the other hand I've heard guys say that they've had no trouble tuning them for low rpms, and or idle?

I've also heard that there's no real difference in the "pattern" or lack of pattern that they produce, vs large injectors.

Is anyone using them? does anyone have any real experience with them? tuners?

I'd like to hear from guys who have actually seen 1st hand what the differences are.

  3. OK, I have a 2005 Cadillac Escalade, which has a nearly identical drive train to my 2003 Silverado SS, which is why I'm hoping I can find some help here.

I'm getting these codes and can't seem to figure out why.

    P2761

    P1810

    P0753

The Escalade seems extremely sluggish, and occasionally will go into limp mode where it will stay in 3rd gear. I've inspected the wiring harness and haven't found any pinched wires or cuts. I'm beginning to suspect the PCM, but I'm not sure exactly how to go about troubleshooting this. I also recently replaced the transmission, which is why my first thought was that I had snagged the wiring harness somewhere, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

These are showing up pretty consistently and after I clear them out the P2761 and P0753 show up almost immediately. I'm also getting a few other codes that I believe are unrelated, but I'll list them anyway incase someone has some insight that may say otherwise, they are

    P0430(only showed up once)

    P0455(EVAP leak) shouldn't be related

    P0116(only showed up once)

I have HPTuners and can do whatever I need to help figure out this problem, I just need some direction, Thanks.

  4. I know that the 4L70e is an upgraded 4L65e, but I don't know what was upgraded, or if there were any changes made that would keep it from being a bolt in replacement.

The reason I ask is because I just bought a 2005 Escalade, that has a bad transmission(acts like 2-4band is broken) I am trying to decide which to put back in, obviously the 70e is a little more pricey but if the longevity outweighs the extra cost I'd be willing to shell out a little more cash.

The Escalade is completely stock, has the LQ9 same as our trucks, and will likely never have any performance mods, as it is mama's ride.

Anyone who has information or insight, I appreciate the help.

    Thanks,

    Joel

  5. Long story short I bought an LQ4 out of a 3/4 ton and am rebuilding it using LQ9 rods and pistons to replace the motor in my SS.

My question is about the orientation of the connecting rods. I already know how the pistons are to be orientated. They have a front mark on them. But the connecting rods don't have a "rounded" side and a flat side. Both sides are machined flat. I have the GM service manual for the LQ4/LQ9 and it shows them having one rounded side. This is the only way that they show orientation.

If anyone has any input or ideas I'd appreciate it.

Also if it makes a difference they are GKN rods that are stock replacements for the LQ9.

Thanks in advance for any help

  6. Well I have hptuners and have mostly been using it as a trouble shooting tool. The transmission in my cousin's truck has been acting up. It's not throwing any codes or anything, but when you put the truck in gear sometimes it won't grab, like it's still in neutral or park, it just revs but won't go anywhere. But if you turn the truck off for a few and let it sit then fire it back up it will shift into gear normally, but once you start driving it, it will begin to slip.

I'm guessing the torque converter is going out. but I don't know enough about what I'm looking at to tell for sure. I'm hoping there's someone on here who can take a look at what I have logged and help me out a little bit.

Here are the logs I made from his truck lastnight. On the 3rd log I set it to watch all of the transmission related parameters, but on the first two there are only a couple. Thanks.

  7. Sorry I haven't been on here in a couple days. I do have future plans for the truck, but for now I'll be using it as a DD.

MID12sSSS- I might be interested in a few of your parts. I'll contact you once I have the motor torn down and figure out what all I need thanks

  8. Lol I'm not planning on buying anything from ebay. I was just saying that was the only rebuild kit I could find(to give you guys an idea of what I was looking for). I am planning on taking it to a machine shop first just trying to "get all my ducks in a row" as they say.

I am not rebuilding the motor that is currently in my truck. I have purchased an LQ4 for the purpose of rebuilding.

But since you asked the LQ9 that is currently in my truck has been loosing coolant into the oil. I changed the oil Friday night and found metal shavings on the plug and on the dipstick.

So I'd say it's on it's way out.

  9. I'm wanting to re use the rotating assembly with the exception of the pistons which have come in some of the rebuild kits I've seen.

Basically I'll need bearings, gaskets, and pistons.

I'm trying to keep this as budget friendly as possible for right now. I just don't want to put junk bearings and gaskets in it.

Here's an example of what I'm looking for, I just didn't know anything about this brand but I haven't really been finding anything else either unless I just piece one together on my own.
