    Window shopped for a new truck today. MSRP of $57,600 for a 15 leftover high country 4x4 w/ the 6.2 litre. About $55k out the door. I realized today how much I really like my SS... and the fact it's paid off :)

      lol at "leftover" at yeah can you believe how expensive the new trucks are? Imagine the sales tax and apr if a person finances. That's like the 80K truck lol

      Could you imagine the msrp if they were to bring the SS Silverado back? 13 years ago the msrp of my truck was $42k... Factor how truck prices have soared since then. I bet the SS would be in the 60's if a high country is almost 58.

    I have the OEM Z06 pads and they are by far the dirtiest pads I have ever experienced. The truck stops amazing but dang, those pads make a mess. The fronts are way worse than the back.

    OEM brakes on my 03 were horrible, especially under emergency braking situations. The original breaks are tiny on the early model Silverado with SS being no exception which is GM put bigger breaks on the 05+. The vacuum booster setup is horrid. I upgraded to the hydroboost system and it was 100% improvement. The brakes bite so much harder (hydroboost has more clamping force). I then did the Z06 conversion with SS lines and this thing will stop like a sports car now.

      That would be cheap, plus I don't know about you but I've had to have both my SS tailgate handle and bezel professionally repainted bc I can't stand how GM just sprayed over the texture. Looks horrible imo.

      If I'm gonna get involved in painting, the whole truck is gonna get strayed. The beautiful Florida sun has taken its toll on it.

    ^^This!^^ Only down side was a lost .5-1 mpg but when you only get 12mpg anyway... doesn't really matter

    Is your oil pressure sensor or gauge working correctly? It's pegged at 80 psi in that pic.

    Heck, my truck still turns my head. I find myself looking back at it whenever I walk away from it in a parking-lot.

    Daily driver, tow pig and dog hauler. I do keep it clean though but with 100k+ miles, it's just an old truck at this point.

    The truck runs just as it did before the cel came on but I'm not somebody that can drive around with a cel on the dash. It will make me crazy. I'll try cleaning it again and see what happens.

    About 6 months ago, while putting my foot into the gas pedal, as I merged onto the highway, my CEL light came on and threw a MAF code. I toof the MAF out, sprayed it with the cleaner, checked the connection and cleaned/greased my K&N filter. I then puled the negative battery cable for the night and the CEL went away. Well, today, same thing while getting on the highway and the same CEL code. I'll try cleaning it again but does this mean it's time of a new MAF or something else I can check?

    I had never seen that before. Very cool. I think my favorite car commercial is the Z32 300ZX from Nissan with Barbie, Ken and GI Joe. It makes me smile everything.

    I vaguely recall reading something awhile ago about there being a voltage issue with the DRL circuit. That is why the majority of trucks (Silverado, Sierra, escalade, Tahoe, Yukon, Avalanche, ect) have at least the driver side DRL burnt out or both sides not functioning. I know I replace the DRL bulks a lot more frequently than any other bulb in this truck. Heck, most of my bulbs are original. Maybe that is why your led ones are frying?

    Mine is 35 and I wish I had done 50. It's great on the crazy hot and bright Florida days but it is really dark at night. With my windows being 0, at night, I have to constantly drop the side windows to back-up or pull out from a side street. I'm thinking about having the windshield redone.

    I went with all OEM stuff when I changed out plugs/wires. Note, bring your truck to the dealer to verify which plug wires you need. There are two sets with different lengths and its depends on what coil packs are installed on your truck. Year or vin doesn't matter, you actually have to look at and verify the coil pack. Ask me how I know... I figured if the original stuff lasted 100k miles, why mess with what is proven. Also agree with replacing all fluids and filters. Truck should be ready for another 100k. Also, as mentioned above. If belts/tensioner are original, might want to inspect/replace those while your under the hood.

    Mine does this and has done this sine I got the truck. It only does it when it's wet out and the truck has been left outside. I figure it's something to do with the humidity. Don't know of any solutions. Just a quirk of the truck.

    Here's a first, went to a used car dealer today and looked at a 10 year old Wrangler Rubicon (super low miles though). Their asking price was 5k above book value. I made then an offer (above book value). Nope. They wouldn't even negotiate a dollar off the price... wow!

      Lol same thing happened to me on a tacoma earlier this year. After I went to look at it I noticed the one close up pic they had online of the tire was a brand new one. In person I saw the other three were completely bald lol. They wanted to negotiate after I walked out on them. I told em **** off.

      People think they can sell Jeeps for more than blue book just because they are jeeps. Ive never understood why they are so expensive, and why they owners and dealerships always think they are worth more than they are

      Here's the funny thing. In 2005, the Jeep was $25k, brand new from the dealer with zero miles and full manufactures warranty. They are trying to sell the same Jeep, 10 years old, 20k miles in good (not excellent!) condition with no warranty for $25k! Crazy!!!!

    That was me. Ended up replacing the entire cooling system. Adding a new external cooler is next on the list although my transmission recommended adding a larger capacity plan saying it will give me lower operating temps than a larger cooler will.

    New shocks and sway bars. Truck still rides like crap and feels like it's falling apart (literally) when going over bumps and rough terrain. WTF and where do I start? I just had the front end aligned and tires balanced last week. No change. 100k miles, stock height and mostly original front end except the idler/pitman arm and wheel bearings.

      Control arm bushings? Put it up and put a pry bar between parts and see what is loose.

      Alignment shop should have* caught anything that was bad.

      i got about the same on mine and recently just did shocks still had the stocks on it. rides a lot better went with the bilstens. wanted to do all the bushings seems like shocks did the trick for now. want to get back in there for sways and bushings tho.
