  1. That guy has his head up his.....they started making 2wd in 05, not 06. And not because awd was a waste of gas, but because they wanted the 2wd option and budget cuts. They also realized the front diff was crapping the bed. Theirs alot more to this, but thats just what I have to say. My boss owned a chevy dealership for over 50 years and has gotten alot ofknowledge passed onto me about these trucks. The one thing I got him on was why they didnt add the 4L80e tranny into our trucks.

    edit-

2wd trucks all have 3.73 gearing stock

awd trucks all have 4.10 or 4.11(?) gearing stock

I agree. His many claims inspired this thread.

So none of the SSs have the 4L80E tranny?

  2. Ive been told that all SS' have the same suspension but wikipedia says that info, and some members say they are different suspensions, but a chevy dealership owner I know said its all the same. Im not saying who is right, who is wrong but would be nice to have a stock DEI SS and regular SS next to each other. Even a stock 07 next to another stock truck woud be the same as the 07s just werent badged, supposedley.

Unfortunatly info from Wiikipedia can't be trusted as fact..

My '07 is fully badged and marked like all the other SSs..

Here's a Craigs list ad that got me wondering. Seems this owner feels the gearing, breaking etc was different too. His sits no different than my stock '07.

  3. I have been doing alot of research on the suspension on the DEI SS truck compared to the regular SS and have been told by some their is no difference. I dont mention names, but this person would know.

If this is real, where are they 1inch lowered? front? rear? or both? I would love part numbers because I would like to lower all around 1 inch, not 2 inches. Its either that or static 2/3 drop....

1stTexan research your VIN and if you could PM me the part numbers for the entire suspension that would be great. Here is a link to what I originally thought was the truth about the suspension but was told otherwise by a Chevy Guru http://en.wikipedia....et_Silverado_SS

The other difference is the DIC has less infostored compared to the 03-04s as Chevy cut costs, unless they kept the DEI's fully loaded like the first two years. :chevrolet:

Thanks for taking the time to repond. I am sorry I can't offer any help. Mine is not an Initmidator. From what I can gather Mine is one of the last 100 SSs made. It's an 07 titled in 12-06.

I have heard here on the forum that the last 1033 '06 Silverado SSs were set aside as Intimidators. But only 933 were made. Seems Chevy sold the last 100 as 07s. Any confirmation of this would be interesting.

  4. dude what are you talking about??

and BTW your AVI don't look like a 06-07 grille

    whats silver about my grille?

    375547_278875305494033_100001146964959_736534_536228177_n.jpg

I said, "I think I found the differences" I should have said Black SSs. Silver grille work would look crappy on a silver exterior.

All the black 06s I have seen, have silver grilles. The only '07 I have seen came with a blackout grille and scoop grills.

How is your grille any different than mine?

Click on my avatar, you will see my grille blown up. Nothing different.

    You're tripping dude! :pepsicheer:

  5. Ya the trucks listed as 07 DEI trucks, or Intimidator editions were only for 2006. They had the Intimidator SS badges, DEI wing. The leftover 100, if this is true, cannot be considered DEI SS trucks as they are not badged, just 2007 Silverado SS trucks. Ive seen alot of nnbs/gmt-900 platform trucks try to be passed as SS' or even Intimidators is just someone trying to make an extra buck on something that isnt.

Can you search your VIN number? That should reveal some info, my old boss was able to break down my VIN and get some real specific info on my truck as he owned a chevy dealership.

I am sure it's original. I have the original title and full history 1st and only lien etc.

    I wasn't thinking DEI.

    But 1of 100 is appealing.

I won't be doing more than a CAI and a tune on this one.

I will buy a new ECM for that. Keep the original.safe for re-sale.

I guess I will keep the mileage low too.

  6. I thought the Onyx Black 2007 Silverado SS Classic was just the 100 un-badged DEI SS' that were leftovers (1033 were made, only 933 badged)? Please correct me if I am wrong....

edit- I believe the Canadian plant built 4 SS trucks in 07, then the Ohio plant made some? Ive read conflicting info digging up old stuff. They should have kept numbers on all years instead of just 03-04.

You would think in the computer age of efficiency. They would produce a line of vehicles and keep an exact count.:banghead:

Interesting info. That would explain why I have seen more '07 Intimidators for sale than non. Mine is the only one I have been able to find.

    Thanks!

  7. I don't give two shits why you are here; I don't benefit from you being here, you aren't a contributing member (neither am I), you seem to have a shitty attitude towards the site and its veteran members, already threatening to leave etc...So what do I need you for again, and why is the longevity of the site hinging on you staying a member?

    :icon_bs::dbanana:

Your sense of entitlement is underwhelming.

    I am not going anywhere.

  8. Singling people out won't get you too far here, especially since this is the first post I have seen out of you. You will be finding yourself very much alone as well. With all of your criticism of the site (and how much better the corvette site OBVIOUSLY is ) I'm not sure why you are here in the first place.

Thanks for proving my point. I will give you the same response I got. Go search my posts and find out what I am doing here. Why should I do all the work?

    :peelout:

  9. I in my opinion (and its just that) I feel if a newb asks a question that has been asked by all of us when we first joined we should answer their question and also provide a link to the most asked questions to help them with any other questions.

Exactly! You folks could learn a lot from the Corvette Forum. Members there pay it foreward.

This isn't supposed to be WORK! Given how few SS trucks are out there? I can see why activity is low.

Some ignorant responses, to honest questions, by new members, is a contributor to those low numbers

    Here's a quote by 2BFAST

"Why should they do all the work when at the end of the day you can search just like he did and find the same results. When its said "this has already been posted" thats saying you need to look deeper."

    . :yellow_loser:

The are too many Chevy Forums as it is.

If this keeps up, I will move onto another Forum. No sense wasting my time with members who rather spend their time writing this kinda BS. Than offering contructive to help a member. Or a weak search engine where most of the post are 6 months old or older.

Message to the admin, this is why I will not be a paying contributor here. I am a lifetime Memeber on the Corvette Forum. I am happy to pay for that service.

You guys are going to find yourself very much alone.

    IMHO

  10. Maybe to a lesser degree but i think you'd be surprised to know how many on this site end up tens of thousands deep. Again, it would be interesting to know. What happens when you break that grand in the first month? Are you seriously going to stop? Do you have that kind of control, or that many other projects?

    Other projects are my interests.

This a driver I want get a little extra from.

Sounds like the CAI, trans mods and a mail order tune will do what I want.

What will the shift characteristics be like with the trans mods, not too sharp? Just firmer?I would like to hear rubber on the 1-2 shift under full throttle..
