  1. 2003 silverado ss, 119,000 miles. Just had tranny rebuilt and shifting great, but started hearing a low pitch rubbing noise, It finally quit. But now when driving and taking right hand curves it starts a grinding noise and its a skipping grind. it only does it when i start to turn to the right and as soon as I straighten out it quits.

  2. Ive got a stock 1500 ss 2003, 120,000 miles. it had been hesitating in 3rd gear, it keep getting worse. I just changed fluid and filter, it shifts thru 1st 2nd and when it goes to third it tries to shift and then engine revs and I let off the fuel and it goes back to 2nd. I can floor it and it will shift through. when I manually shift, 1st and 2nd fine 3rd and 4th it pulls up to about 35 mph and then engine revs. Could it be a shifting selinoid? and I had a scanner put on it and it said EVAP control valve selinod was bad, I assume that wouldnt have nothing to do with it.

  3. Yes installing hydroboost would most likely help with the pedal feel but it would still stop pretty good with everything stock. As far as I know no Silverado SS's came with factory hydroboost. That was only an option on Heavy Duty trucks like the 2500HD. Yours is most likely original.

Thanks, I appreciate You guys and fourms like this. It saves people like me hundreds of dollars , if not more a year.
  4. The soft pedal is very normal, you don't have hydroboost. You have the factory vaccum power brakes, as far as the steering check your power steering level maybe?

Would installing a hydroboost system help with the pedal and didnt all the SS come factory with the Hydroboost? Just starting to wonder if mine was wrecked or not and not put back with oringial parts. Thanks
  5. I have a 2003 silverado ss, I owned it for 2months and it has 118,000miles. The pedal is spongy and the steering wheel feels like theres a little force feedback, not vibration but more force to steer than other vehicles. I know chevy is know for spongy breaks, but Ive read some about the hydroboost system and they say the spool valve seal goes bad and causes these problems in the pedal and steering. Im not sure if i have the hydroboost so I uploaded a pick of mine. This is my 16 year old sons truck so its got me a little worried any help would be appreciated, Thanks. Oh , the front pads are good and I just replaced the rear pads.

  6. I have a 2003 silverado ss, it has 118,000 miles. Ive owned it for two months now, Ive noticed that when I would let off the fuel pedal to dexcell in a curve and would get back on the fuel coming out of the curve that the transmission would stall in between shiftting and would feel a vibration coming from the front. But if I push the gas hard it doesnt do it, when i get on it the trans shifts good and soild. I dont know much history on the truck, the 2nd owner only had it for a year. Ive changed the fuel filter, and the trans oil was low when i got it, i filled it up and the oil doesnt smell burnt. Thanks
