  3. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this. when truck is at a idle hot are cold it has a pecking noise sounds like its coming from middle ways up threw motor. Has no cats, its tuned, and i run 87 fuel in it. It sounds just like a lifter not priming. Idel it runs about 38psi. Was just wanting opinions on it before i tear into it. octane of fuel cause this? and it has 150,000 miles

  4. If the cel comes on, the code should stay stored in the computer unless it doesn't happen for so many key cycles or you unhook the battery. Even if the cel goes back off, next time you start the vehicle. You really need to get that code, without hesitation someone here could tell you the problem, whether it's big or small. 150,000 on the stock 4l65 tranny in the ss is pretty good.

All that aside my experience has been, only having 3rd and being able to manual shift 2nd, is the limp mode for the 4l60 style trannies. And if it wasn't throwing a code I'd start by replacing shift solenoid A or the 1-2 shift solenoid.

it had codes had them wrote down and ill try to find them but cleared them and hasnt done it since but just hoping the transmission dont go out. In a tight spot right now and thats last thing i need to happen

  5. How many miles, did you just buy it? Brand new looking fluid in the tranny is a red flag when buying a used truck. Sometimes the seller will change the fluid and filter as a short term remedy to the problem with the tranny. Any codes? Could also be something as simple as a solenoid stuck or broken.

149,000 and yeah i did 2 weeks ago. Thinking about taking it back because of that lemon law stuff. But dont mean its like brand new its still got a redish tint not like brand new red lol. and no codes till it does it everytime it does it aint got a computer around and where i get to where one is at its done doing it :banghead:

  6. I bought this SS and the other night i was going home for lunch and truck only had 3rd and 2nd. wouldnt kick down, go in first, are overdrive. shut it off and let it set for about 10 min started it up did alright and did alright since. Fluid dont smell burnt are slip and its still red. anyone got any ideas?

  7. Good question but in Alaska they don't salt the roads luckily so rusting isn't really an issue. I've yet to see an SS up here showing any signs of rust. Also my truck has only been up here 3 winters, before that it was from California. Still looks pretty newish underneath.

this one has been down south about 4 years so im hoping all rust thats showing (in hood) will be solved when i get this cowl hood and none else comes threw. can only hope tho. i love the truck tho! im 18 years old and this has been my dream truck since i was like 11
