  1. Do you think there is any interest if I can provide the original (uncut/unedited) articles as pdfs to the site? I have to see if there are any legal issues first.
  2. GM High Tech isn't a bad mag. I'd e-mail them your complaints.
  3. I would e-mail them your opinions. Ultimately, the mag should either provide what the readerships wants or fold.
  4. I proposed some new stuff to the editor. The new editor says the new style of Chevy High Performance magazine is it. If you looked at the latest version, 69 Camaros galore, essentially nothing newer (there was a picture of an 85 IROC). The editor said it would be a while before any newer engine (LS1 or newer) articles will be done. This means no more trucks. They still haven't printed the zippy event from last year. I see this as a kick in the balls considering all of the support you have given them. I expressed my extreme displeasure with them regarding not publishing the zippy event even after they told me it would be published. If you think that they are making a mistake, e-mail them. Your voices were heard before and a separate truck section resulted. [email protected] I'm not sprouting wood over putting air bags in a 1st gen Camaro, remote cutouts on a 67 Chevelle, disc brakes on a 69 Z28, or Flowmasters on a 69 Z28.

  6. A bar is an atmospheric pressure unit. 1 bar = ~ 14.7 psi (normal atmospheric pressure). Your normal NA tuning is 1 bar. When you kick up the supercharger boost to 14.7 psi (14.7 psi above atmospheric pressure), this is 2 bar tuning. Some people refer to 1 bar as 14.7 above atmospheric and 2 bar is 29.4 above atmospheric. For example, let’s say that you engine produces XXX HP NA. If the atmospheric pressure was doubled to 29.4 psi (or you are running a supercharger with 14.7 psi boost), you could get twice as much air (and fuel) into the engine and produce twice as much power. To determine your approximate power with different boost levels you can use this equation: Boosted HP = NA HP x (1 + boost psi/14.7) For example if you are running 6 psi of boost: Boosted HP = NA HP x (1 + 6/14.7) = NA HP x 1.41 = 41% more power than NA This does not factor in the parasitic losses from running the supercharger.
  7. Any mod ideas for a relatively stock engine? There are two readership camps: the larger camp is the relatively stock people and the other camp is the radical HP nuts. The shift point optimization and the emulation based tuning idea can appeal to everyone.
  8. Part 6 is out. The black SS is done and will probably be sold. The current Chevy High Performance Silverado truck articles seem like a rehash of what was already done to the SS (headers, suspension, brakes, tranny upgrade, supercharger, etc.). I am looking for new ideas for mods to a stock truck that haven't been done before. For example: 1) Tranny shift point optimization based on measurements from HP Tuners or Autotap. 2) How to use the new OBD2 emulator for tuning (this is a new product that can speed up the home tuning process). Any thoughts? Any nearby (Pittsburgh PA) truck volunteers?
  9. Vinci was working with closely with Crane at one time. Could these actually be Crane's spring?
