  1. Do you have a refugium? The macro algae absorbs all of the nitrates and phosphates to grow and the thick sand bed of live sands deals with the biological in the tank (and of course live rock helps with that too in the actual tank). The rest of the refugium acts as a breeding ground for feeder fish, amphipods, and copepods for the fish in the aquarium and zooplankton for the corals.

I have a 200 gallon refugium in the works.

  2. Thanks guys!

Yea I've been driving a black car since I started driving, my first was a 1988 Pontiac Grand Am GT, after that car I had a 1994 Camaro Z28 SS I wish I still had that car.

I love to detail them, and since I already have a reverse osmosis/ deionization water system at the house for my reef tank I use the water washing them. I can wash them in a midday Florida sun and walk away without needing to dry them, they all dry without a spot.

I don't drive the Xtreme anymore, when my nephew turned 16 I gave it to him.

I am about to trade my wifes 2009 LTZ Tahoe for a MB GLK 350. my first non GM car since 1988.

  3. Start by pulling off the throttlebody being careful not to damage the o-ring. clean the back side of the throttlebody and on the inside of the intake (reach your hand in there with a rag with some carb and choke cleaner or brake clean on it and clean it good. Don't use paper towels.) Re-install the tb and torque it to proper specs.

Was the cat replaced with a factory cat or aftermarket? You should change both at the same time. I am still thinking it's a cat problem but cleaning the throttlebody and intake is easy and can also be the issue. I would also crawl under the truck and tap the cats to see if one seems to sound different than the other.

Thanks Sinr98! I removed the throttle-body and cleaned the back side I also cleaned the inside of the intake with a johnny brush since my hand didn't fit and my wife wouldn't do it for me.

I also had the other cat checked, the back pressure was slightly different then the new high-flow cat the race shop installed so they changed it, now the back pressure matches the other one.

As of now the problem seems to have been cured!

Now time for some more upgrades!

  4. This may be something you might want to get a proper diagnosis for at a dealership. If you would like me to check your VIN, please feel free to PM us at your convenience.

$1,700. for a steering wheel lock problem with my Z06 I fixed it for $59.

    $2,700 for a ABS/ Traction Control/ Active Handling problem I fixed for $150.

and most recent an ABS problem with my SS they wanted $600 for a new wheel hub and I fixed for $86.00

Thanks Sinr98 The shop replaced the bad cat with a high flow cat, they said yesterday that the other cat was still good I will have it checked again. I'll remove and clean the throttle body and the inside of the intake.

  6. its a stock tune, the truck never did this before. The guys at the shop drove the truck for 30 min or so and with the basic computer the show everything is running fine (No codes) but they also feel the lag/ bog down on hard acceleration, they think the stock program is acting up so they want to computer tune the truck before replacing parts. can the MAF or TB cause problems and not be throwing codes?

  7. The fuel filter in 04 and up is non servicable. It is in the gas tank and you have to replace the entire fuel pump.

Could be a batch of bad gas, is you fuel mileage the same when normal driving?

Yes fuel mileage is fine. I hope its not the fuel pump. I'm going to start with some easy stuff in the morning and report back.

  8. :idiot: That is no way to welcome a newbie. :nono:

Have you checked the accessory drive for something dragging the motor down? A bad bearing in a water pump, alternator, or tensioner can drag the motor down and cause those symptoms. Is your AC on when this happens?

I never thought to check any of that, I will and yes with the A/C on or off. Maybe time for a new serpentine belt?

  9. I'll pull a couple of the plugs and check them, the are about a year old. The truck has 123,000 miles. I changed the knock sensors a couple months ago and replaced the manifold gaskets but not the throttle body gasket. Could the throttle body or mass air flow sensor be going bad? I have an airaid air system installed

Isn't the fuel filter installed on the fuel pump in the tank?
