Hi fellas, I have a victory red 03 silverado ss and first of all I love it, been driving it for 5 years now. Well on the passenger side door the body cladding / ground effects is starting to come loose at the top twords the front fender and is now catching when the door is opened and tearing itself up. So in a desperate attempt to keep it from getting it ripped off by open door or wind from driving on the hwy it is now temporarily held on with blue painters tape on that corner. I'm guessing it's double sided tape holding the tops of these on. So what I need help with is how to remove this cladding and where are clips and how they come off. Second is there a product similar to this double sided tape. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Got to get this fixed quickly and get that painters tape off my SS

Truck now sits in the driveway until this is done. Front diff makes a loud poppin noise if I give it any throttle at all. Please help me get this awd crap off my truck so I can drive it again. This is my transportation to work so if anyone knows a quick fix to remove awd would be great.

I need that front diff if u still have it. Please contact me 901-574-9919. Thanks,Randy.

Yep,Long beach is way too far to drive for tires, hahaa. Just bought some anyways. 275/55/20 goodyears just like when it came off the lot.

will do. I have a mechanic buddy at the chevy dealer and he is the one who is actually going to do the work and he seid I need to get a tailshaft off a 2wd trans so I dont think he will have to open the trans and hope not also because it was rebuilt last year and is under warranty. One shady mechanic at the tire store told me that doing the awd to 2wd would require new spindle because without the cv axle the front wheels will fall off.The nut in front of the hub is screwed to the cv joint right? Im thinking leaving that nut and first chunk(whatever the big ass screw is about) and keeping the hub on with the original nut and screw right through the middle. I know im not mechanically inclined guys so please bare with me. I am trying to learn here so help a fellow SS'er out :-)^^^^ haha yeah all he does is just post non sense just to get his post count up!! Lol
In a side not good luck on the build and let us know how it works out for you.

neither, I dont race.I think if it ever hooked up, the rear end would fail very quick (if it hooks). I would definitely look at some rear end upgrades. are you going to be doing rolling starts or digs?
-
Huh? Im lost on that one. A silverado ss rear end is not strong enough to work by itself? Is that what u are saying?Yeah unless you want to run a 8 lug dually setup. The stock g80 rear is barely strong enough to handle my S10 that has one. The reason why they put it in these is because of the awd splitting the power. If someone is taking the awd stuff off I would assume that they are planning on doing a backhalf and race it. Sent from my Motorola RAZR MAXX using Tapatalk 2

Thanks man. Thats what I needed and not someobe tell me I have to do a body off transfer, geez..Im pretty sure I can use my transmission, just replace the tailshaft on the transmission with a 2wd tailshaft. It's a simple process, remove the front diff and components, remove transfer case and driveshafts, find a 2wd trans and rear drive shaft and doneSent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Really man?^^^what he said^^^

Please dont hate me for this fellas. I know my truck is awesome awd peice of art but I really want to do this and need more input. I want to take off the awd on my 03 silverado and pack it up nice and tight, save it for a rainy day. Dont matter the cost or amount of work, what does matter is that its done right so please help me put together a parts list so I can get started on this. So far I need a transmission tail shaft, a rear drive shaft off of a stock (non ss) silverado extended cab like mine and my buddy at the chevy dealer to turn off any computer warnings after I rob my horse of his front legs, lol. Seriously though, im about to do this but keep all the parts packed away so please help me and wish me luck, not boo's. Hahaa, thanks, rrroberson7805

Just got a haynes repair manuel from auto zone and it seis for awd bearing all that I need is a slide hammer and a special tool to replace bearing and seal on drivers side. Anyone know about this? Allready did passenger side and it was simple.

Yep, location? Hahaa, closest member wins

Ok, so fixing the front diff is my goal:) thanks fellas. Now help me with this. On the driver side of the diff there is a bearing where the cv joint meets. Does the diff have to be dis-assembled to replace that bearing and seal? That is the only problem right now and if I fix tgat bearing I can keep awd

Hello fellow motor heads. I just signed in and this is my first topic so please bear with me if I do something wrong. My issue is that im a owner of a 03 silverado ss and im wanting to remove the awd and only have 2wd. Main reason is because the front diff has bad bearing on the driver side and was told to just remove the awd parts and set them aside until I can afford to rebuild all of it at once. Money is tight right now, I have four kids and need my truck to stay on the road. So,whats the best and cheapest rout for doing away with awd? Can the transfer case stay for now until I get a hold on a longer drive shaft? Do I need new spindels(2wd model spindels)? Any and all replies would be greatly appreciated and remember, im new so please excuse my mistakes if any. Thanks, please help a fellow with some knowledge
