  1. No-one is afraid of the large cam, just it defiantly is not the way to go. The cam in the 2000hp LSX at the shop is big yes, but in a street vehicle with under 370ci I would stay in the 22x duration range and still haul the mail at the track.
  2. Chris's truck ran 11.0@127 with an LS6 cam I would say it worked OK. It peaked at 5600 but got down the track in good fashion. Dave's LQ9 GTO makes 825rwhp with an LS6 cam at 5400, and 847rwtq at 4400 and pulls like a dump truck from 3k rpm and up. Steve's 5.3l with an LS6 cam made 681rwhp through a 14 bolt 35" tires, and an 80e. ...oh and all of these vehicle idled and drove like stock around town. Two of these were with BW 83mm turbine wheels too. It all about the combo as a whole.
  3. How much power are you looking to make? the LS6 cam with a 475 and a 1.1a/r 83mm turbine wheel combo is good for 700 whp and it comes into boost fast. Or if you are looking to make more power I would go with the 1.32 96mm turbine wheel combo on the 475.

  5. A really good entry level unit would be the Turbosmart eboost2. If you are looking for a more race oriented unit with more features the AMS-500 is great and the 1000 for all out racing apps. with features like scramble mode.
  6. Well technicly fastest would mean best mph and quickest would be the ET. Stock long block with cam and springs only was Chris at 119mph.

  9. So they took a engine that could make 650fwhp w/o a sweat and made a 46% increase in power with 15psi of boost. hhhmmm not impressed. 15psi with a efficient setup should double the hp. I can take a stock GTO with 330whp and make 725whp with 15psi and no other mods then valve springs, It made 825 at 19.
  10. For the Maggie responses on this thread for over 650whp lol, lay off the PIPE! More then 650whp, two options Custom Pro-charger setup, 10rib...... or Turbo.
  11. If you want a good single spring that is far superior then the ls6 or 918 I would look into PSI. We use their 1511's on our builds that have a single.
  12. I sure would not be putting my truck in neutral after a run. Good way to explode the drum and send it and other parts out of the trans and possibly into the truck.
  13. Nice runs Matt! We are running Chris's with 2 walbros, 127mph at 5680lbs. Might have a voltage issue or a bum pump???
  14. It all depends on the fuel you run along with the tune.
  15. Absolute did nice port work but they might need a valve job and springs at minimum. You labor operations could be from 50-500 depending on what the need done, like surfacing, valve job, valve guids.....
  16. Get ready to change the injectors because you will soon be out of fuel too. I like the GT2-3, don;t need a ton of cam when you ahve boost. Good luck on the 918's....... I would opt for PSI 1511's.
  17. I would have them checked out. At the least check the valve springs as they are more then likely hit if the owner was running a large cam with aggressive lobes.
  18. Yes but a longer rod will move the piston closer to the deck or out of the hole is the compression height of the piston is not changed. CI is determined by the cylinder volume meaning bore stroke, and number of cylinders. Rod length does nothing but put the piston where you want it to be in relation to the deck height. running the 6.25 rod did nothing but reduce compression height and move your pin up further.
  19. Tore it down just a little bit ago and everything seems to be mint. Man what a clean break.

  21. The stock 305 will bee fine like I said for under 450whp, this is not internet here say I have played with many of the older Vortec motors. Procharger makes a kit for your truck too.
