  1. No problem. My point was just to check them out no matter who they are on EBay before buying. I've had individuals present themselves as a shop, but were just hacking crap in their garage. Nothing against someone that actually knows what they are doing for a side job or something, you just need to do your best research to keep everyone honest these days it seems.

    exactly.

  2. The guys I ended up buying my transmission are on Ebay, their own site, and have a legit trans shop in Florida (I had my brother in law check them out since he lives there). It's called "Goodfella's" and I should be getting mine soon (7-10 business days from last Tuesday).

As far as stall goes, the stall changes with the amount of power applied. The more torque you have, the higher the stall will be. That's why the companies usually offer a few free restalls to get it just right for your particular combination.

now thats a differetnt story, yes I can see buying one from them. I just had the "typical" private seller in mind about the ebay thing. There are legitimate actual shops that just have a store on ebay. So dont get me wrong, not knocking just becasue ebay, I just had that typical seller in mind when I said I would not buy from ebay.

  3. Ya I thought stock was more around 1800. Well I was thinkin of buying one of the trannys from one of the businesses on ebay that comes with your choice of converter stall, rebuilt with all the stuff everyone does- vette servos, beast shell, clutch pack, shift kit, etc. Says they're dynoed to 700hp, but I know you never really know from ebay.

Yeah, ebay is not the place I would like to buy a transmission.

  4. I'm sorry and I know the feeling :( But it is possible to get a 4L65 to provide decent service in your application, it just has to be built the right way and lots of people DO NOT know how to prep one.

AFA your current situation, it sounds like an issue that is certainly under warranty from your transmission builder; if it isn't, you need to find another builder.

    Mr. P.

talked to them today, they said any labor would be free, I just buy the parts....decent deal?

  5. welcome to the club, i have blow three transmissions... these 65's are plain crap... Go with the 80e... im in the middle of a swap now.

what blew this time? How is your tune? A tune can kill a trans faster than anything, that and an accumulator stacked with washers...

what is your stall at? current power?

    stock stall...500whp and 500wtq

happened on th 1-2 shift AGAIN...~6k rpm

funny thing is 1 and 2 still work 3 and 4 will not hold...there is no slipping it just act like it pop out of gear under load...??

  6. I just wasted my second BUILT trans in 3 weeks, 4th in a year. I have put over 10k in this piece of shit in the last few months and have had NOTHING BUT TROUBLE by doing so. Long gone are the days of reliability. I know I could go with an 80 and all that crap, but don't want to....would rather fix the trans one more time, take everyhting off and sell it if I cant get a 65 to work.

I messed around with it today and reverse, 1st and 2nd gears work and Drive will hold for a minute, then pop out????? any ideas? Doesnt sound like total catastrophe as I initieally thought. Something broke as I could hear it snap, grind and evertything else. It sounded and felt liek the driveshaft broke and started dragging, but didn't??? I wonder if maybe the transfer case gave way...???

  7. Items 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 - should have been included in your shift kit.

Item 6 - you don't need the pinless accumulator piston, just make sure you have aluminum ones with good seals.

Item 8 - this is an advanced and controversial move, few do this but I have seen it done with great results. If you don't want to outright block off the #3 accumulator then run a billet 2nd servo as this reduces the #3 accumulator and really firms up the 2-3 shift.

    Mr. P.

Never have ran an actual "shift kit" I have been told by PATC (www.transmissioncenter.net) that you either do servos OR shift kit....never both..??

    tranny contrains the following:

overdrive and 2nd gear billet SUPER servos

    kevlar 2-4 band

all red eagle clutches and kolene steels

    .490 boost valve

    Beast reaction shell

    Extreme Duty front planet

    Extreme Duty rear planet

29 element Borg Warner forward input sprag

and maybe a couple of other little things I am forgetting....not a real elaborate build, but should be getiting the job done.
