  1. I can't argue on the user friendliness issue. There are problems there. It's always been more productive to search google with the site name in your search, than to use the sites search engine. Photobuckets big changes have made it harder to post pictures. (I've never tried the sites picture add function but have read that it is less than stellar).

     

    The site has slowed so much in the last year or more that I imagine that the folks who control the site don't see much advantage in upgrading it.

     

    Aside from trying to help guys searching for answers, I will continue to post here in an effort to keep the site active enough that it will be seen as worthy of keeping alive, because it is a valuable info source.

     

    If a new SSS site gets started; I will check it out and likely join. :cheers:

    Yeah I'd really like to see this site as popular as it used to be, maybe if randy didn't get banned ?

    That makes no sense. There is more info pertaining to these trucks, on these pages now, than a new site will gather from now till the time when the last of the trucks are piles of dust.

    Yeah no doubt about that, just saying that compared to other forums this is much less user friendly when trying to post pics and stuff like that. Lots and lots of useful information on here for sure.

  3. So a few days ago I ran into the ss that I raced and lost to which idc about. Anyways I was talking to him and asking him about his truck and if it was stock and what not. He says its not stock so then I ask him if he has bolt ons and he was like "what's a bolt on". Then he proceeds to tell me he has full vette exhaust and is pushing 400hp and I was laughing my ass off Hahahaha. We have some very entitled kids up here in Alaska, can't wait till my build is done.

  4. These trucks (and Silverados in general) get stolen so much I don't think anybody should doubt it. Anyway and in TX a flood salvage title actually says flood on it, in my experience. Used to work with my dad, he was a licensed salvage dealer that had a note lot, mostly salvage cars with all conditions disclosed, just cheap cars for people that needed a break basically...we avoided flood cars, looked for light hits we could fix without too much effort.

     

    That Arrival Blue looks so damn good I wish I had the spare cash to jump in. My buddy with the trans shop in Tomball could whip that 4L80E out in his sleep. Unfortunately (fortunately?) I recently laid out a bunch of cash for a super-low-mile 300 SRT8 to replace my other one that is getting close to 100K. Too many toys in the driveway. Hell I'd almost be tempted to sell my Intimidator and I've sunk a ton of work and money into it...

  5. If you want to feel good about losing by 5 car lengths in a race 60mph then I say more power to ya! As pointed out above 345hp now days isn't jack. You can't even buy a V8 in a truck from ford, GM, or Dodge that makes less than 345.

    well I have a 4.3 v6 with low compression and need new cats so it's not as healthy as it should be haha
  6. Ah okay thanks for the replies guys. I knew I was going to lose but I didn't give a shit hahahahaha. Hope I see him at a light again one day when my truck has a 6.hoe and a 76mm turbo and he can hear my spool while I'm brake boosting ready for it to turn green!!! Just wish that day could be tomorrow haha.

  7. Just lined up at a light with an sss, and I'm in my single cab with the v6. We both hit and and he gets the jump and continues to pull but by the time we were at 60 he probably only had 5 car lengths on me. Seems to me he should have beat me pretty bad maybe his truck wasn't taken care of...run hard put away wet type of thing? And I know he gave it all he got, his exhaust was screaming. Thoughts?

  8. Well you guys got me haha. Just gonna do a 5.3 swap unless I can get a 6.0 for a good deal. Tune headers exhaust and maybe a cam would be a hell of a lot cheaper than that whole supercharger set up for the 4.3. Just hoping when me and some buddies do the swap it won't be a pain in the ass. Anyways I'll be posting pics during the whole thing, trying to resurrect this forum a little bit. Thanks for all the input!

  9. I've seen 4.8s and 5.3s go off craigslist for $500-$700 all day long. I was going to say that would be a good option for a budget build until I saw Richard and Matt already mentioned it. If you shop around some you will probably make it out cheaper with the V8 as far as parts go, I'm sure you could find someone or a shop to swap it out at a decent price too. If you haven't already, I would call around your area and see what they are going to charge to put the supercharger on vs a v8 swap in labor. I would hate to see you spend a lot of money on the V6 and lose to someones 4.8 or 5.3 with a few bolt ons.

    I can install the supercharger no problem with a few buddies but the reason I'm reluctant to v8 swap a daily is because I can't have it be in a shop more than 48 hours. And if anything in the swap goes wrong then I will likely be stranded until it's fixed. I know a v8 swap is capable of producing more power for cheaper but not looking to go 10s with a v6 just a little kick lol.

    Oh man I wasn't aware he was banned...that explains why it's not no where near as active. Man he was a good guy. I think I was reading the post last night and it was probably why he got banned, but it's just banter and jokes...

  11. I know you can make more hp with a v8 but doing the swap is gonna cost $4k when all said and done or I slap a wynjammer on for less than 3k

    Also my work situation won't allow me to be without a vehicle for more than 2 days and that's the weekend when shops are closed.
