  1. HAHA!! I thought he gernaded that tranny in my old truck months ago?? WTF is it still sitting there for?? How'd it look Chase (other than dusty) has he been taking care of it? BTW: Seconded on the Toyshop recommendation... those guys are THE BEST and definitely fair priced.
  2. Damn... I'm like an internet legend On to the topic at hand...... I have been pretty happy with the results I've gotten with Stoners Invisible Glass, but it does need to be used on a cool window or it will streak. I also have more recently have gone back to the old school practice of using a balled up newspaper when cleaning windows (sounds crazy, but it works) NOTE: this is only for the outside... if you have tint just water and a soft cloth to clean insides. Also, I like to throw a coat of DER Shiney (or whatever your acrylic polish of choice) on the glass... makes it much easier to clean. DO NOT do this if you're still using a carnuba/silicone product... it will melt and make your job even harder. If you're talking about "Haze" on the inside of your windows theres nothing you can do but keep cleaning regularly. That haze is a result of the chemicals seeping out of the plastics in the dash... it tends to be worse on new vehicles, but heat makes them release that haze. Also, products like Armourall will release "gases" when heated... that gas rises and redeposits on the inside of the glass. GM has developed a "low haze" material for the interior of the vette... its some compression molded material that has supposedly NO "gas release" like traditional plastic. Thus far the C6 is the only vehicle to use this technique.... I haven't heard it has mades its way into the new generation of trucks, but it seems logical that it might.
  3. If you haven't yet, do yourself a favor and go test drive one. The new chasis and setup on the new tahoe and avy's is a HUGE step up over the previous generation. GM did a hell of a job improving pretty much every aspect IMHO.
  4. I've been so slammed lately with work, family stuff, travel, yadda yadda yadda, that I've been completely unreachable. I logged on the other day and realized my inbox was full, went to delete all the old stuff and accidentally deleted everything. My apologies to anyone who had sent me a PM in the last week or so and didn't get a response (I had about 8 new PM's total : ) I also had a voicemail on my cell from someone... but all I could make out was "SS.com" and the rest was really muffled/static sounding... so whoever that was I'm sorry. Call me again or PM me. Things are settling back down a bit so I can respond to anyone/everyone who was trying to get in touch with me. Its always easiest to get me on my e-mail if I don't respond to your PM's. [email protected]
  5. Correct. Use cotton terry bonnets for the polish step if you're going to use a buffer or use terry cloth applicator pads and cotton diapers to remove it. Use microfiber to remove the shiney coat.... I even have microfiber applicator pads I've been using since I got the TBSS... just wanted to be extra careful w/ this black PITA... er... I mean paint. EDITORIAL: the letters P-A-I-N in the word paint should be capital when referring to black... because it is a PAIN to keep up
  6. yeah... saw that a long time ago... looks like BS.
  7. Couple of blocks away from Camelback.
  8. Phoenix, the corner of Shea and Tatum.
  9. Big props for trying something different. I don't think they're the right look for the SS, but if you like em thats all that matters IMO.
  10. As I'm sure some people remember, my company (Just In Time Audio & Video) is opening a custom retail location in Arizona. I've made a lot of day trips up there getting everything coordinated... yesterday did the final construction walk thru and the TV's, speakers, theater seating, touchpanels, and all the other fun stuff should start going in about 2 weeks from today. We're located next to a Z Tejas so we're working with them to coordinate a grand opening party with margaritas, beers, and mexican food... all my AZ peeps are invited once we figure out the date. Should be a hell of a party... we gotta start this place off on the right foot *Looking in the front door, in this main room we've got all hardwood floors, there will be a 63" plasma over the faux fireplace and a large custom theater couch in front of it... on the left wall there will be a 42, 50, 55, and 60" plasma on differnt types of mounts, each controlled by a 5" Crestron touchpanel. Against the half glass wall there will be low tables w/ a 25, 32, and 37" LCD each accompanied by a custom RF remote. *This is a close shot of the faux fireplace where the 63" will go *The opposite wall where the 4 different size plasmas will be w/ the touchpanel controls *Entrance to the back theater room where we will have 3 rows of theater seating, 133" projection screen, Fujistsu HD LCD projector, and a full THX certified 7.4 (yes... point 4) system... no pics of that yet... its top secret The rooms are seperated by large double pane soundproof glass windows and doors... hopefully thats enough *Looking back towards the front of the location... paper covering the double glass doors until we're ready to open... already a lot of people curious about whats going on in there. Thats my boy Ric on the right who will be running the show and one of the contractors.
  11. Couple of suggestions: 1) Stay away from any aggressive polishing compounds unless your working with a high speed buffer and have experience. You can do a lot of damage to the paint, but it looks like you've already decided not to use it. 2) Wool pads suck. They clog and tend to have oils in them that will make your job harder. I typically use 100% cotton terry bonnets for my buffers for the applicatioin and removal process.... if you're doing a top coat (i.e. - DER Shiney) you can switch to microfiber for better results.... don't use microfiber on a polishing step... it'll just clog up.
  12. hmmmmm.... jobs that are low stress that a recently unemployed guy at 50 can do??? Lemme think.... Porn star What were you doing before?? Not suggesting to get back into the same field again, but maybe that experience could lead you into a feild of work related, but differnt to it.
  13. I have a lot of favorites, but if I have to pick just one it'd be a 1965 Malibu... I've been in love since a Super Chevy Show in Pomona when I was about 15 yrs old. My dad and I were walking thru the rows of cars and I saw it.... deep blue marine color with matching white and blue interior... lowered, rims, and a clean little 350/350 combo.... since that day I've always said I would build one when I had the time and money.
  14. Don't let him fool you... hes really an ****, with one of the ugliest trucks I've ever seen

  17. You guys sure love cheap mods don't you? Did everyone on the site order one? Since the cheap mod thing is so popular I'm selling my special racing stripe kit for only $8... this kit will work on any color and can stripe multiple trucks. Various colors available... whos interested? Pics Below: BTW: I think the airdam spoiler looks retarded... but to each their own
  18. I had this discussion about a year ago w/ my trans guys (walt built trans in oceanside)... they are, with the exception of zippy , the most knowlegeable guys I have ever known when it comes to tranny's. The problems they said you would have to get past: *mating a 6 speed to the transfer case *finding a manual tranny that could handle the weight-vs-horsepower *the electronics to go w/ it *have a center console modded/built to get the shifter on the floor *building in a clutch and other parts that could handle tq transfer to all the wheels on launch without breaking itself After going over it they said you'd spend way more than its worth to get it done... and even then its not a sure thing that it would hold up. Estimating over $10k to do it right... I'll live w/ an automatic.
  19. TTT This thread is a good read for anyone who didn't get a chance to know Jeff that well before his passing. Just illustrates his passion and enthusiasm for his truck. Its a shame that we won't ever get to see it in action after he poured so much of himself into it.
