  1. gass guzzlers? all lies. my 09 ext was one week old just filled it with its second tank of fuel ever, and hit the hightway @ 110 kph/70 mph, and got 21.1 mpg. after driving around for the hockey tourney, and such, after return trip avg was 18.9 mpg. i await corsa to release the 09 update exhaust, and i need to check into a GMPP intake, and some hptuners will go a long way, i forsee 25 mpg. if you looked at the high spark table, you would see how it uses the 6 sp auto to keep it in the peak tq range during normal (not WOT) driving.
  2. so the header lies? oem parts in oem boxes. bah. he didnt reply to my email. if they were the black plastic, i'd take em all.
  3. haha, decal guys have all the cash. well, maybe not all.
  4. in the start of my business......i hired girl guide troops to hand deliver flyers. no one is rude to a little girl. it gets ppls attn. and supports them as they have to constantly fund raise.

    22" Tires

still running the stock 20's from new in 03. it gets 22's in springtime, im thinking KDW's
  6. i havent been too keen on playing with the knock decay, and knock attack, until i know more about it. same goes for enrichment rate. i know the stock values, and what my car is set at, so if you have any suggestion, id be willing to look at it. and i also have come across phantom knock on my car, and have the kr retard backed off 2 degrees. i need more good info to read. heh. Curtis.
  7. i would like to personally thank all of you for your comments. i havent tuned anything since my 66 nova 355 6-pack. all i needed was 3 vacuum guages, a timing light, and a screwdriver. lol. buying a SSS, made me interested in a little more performance, as the stock setup left me wanting a little more , hence the minor mods i described above. The extra brreathing and mail order tune yielded me a large increase in HWY MPG. Buying that damn cobalt, and going to the track for the first time in my life made me rally want more out of the car. Too bad I wound up with a bad tuner working on it, and then another one changing it all again, leaving me with a bit of a mess. This is what led me to buying HPTuners, and a wideband, as I didnt like being told "I did a bunch of stuff, and your car didnt like it, so I changed more stuff, and sorry if it runs kinda bad, but it's the last guys fault." Now i could see whatr each tuner had done, and how the stock setup was. 3 weeks of intense reading and borrowing my buddies books from efi101.com, combine with my useless "old school" knowledge, i have a basic understanding whats going on. i do acknowledge that a noob armed with a laptop, and HPT, can really do a lot of damage. So, again, I thank you all for your help.
  8. it a little warm yah. this unit never races anyone at anytime, not even the track. start and stop traffic, and soon holidays in the mountains, i expect IAT to always be kinda high. my billet grille is getting in the way of airflow as well. i found this am going to work, that when im calmly cruising, then punch it, i still get some kr, about half what i was, in a higher range 4-6k, but from a stop then WOT like i was racing, there is no kr. my enrichment rate is .0303, and my PE delay is set at stock 5500 rpm. am i crazy thinking i need to crank up the computers ability to compute faster, via the enrichment rate. its set at .05 in my car, and i saw someone here advise someone else to set that at 1.0. can it be? and maybe dropping the pe delay a bit, to say 3500? and my add vs. IAT is zero's across the board.
  9. i could try that after holidays. but for now, here are my results, i put in my hypertech 160 stat. have a look at these and comment please. afr was sniffed at the tail-pipe. here was before: after some playing, i got to this: any constructive critisism? thx for the input yawwlll.
  10. unfortunately the cobalt is at 10.5 but leans out to 11.5 above 7k, but gm says #4 will blow as its last in line to get fuel , and first to get air, go figure. im trying to keep it under 11. cant wait for my snow performance meth kit to show up to keep it in check, its running 15 lbs boost. the trucks stock plug gap is .040 i believe, waht do you think about going to .035 to help the burn?
  11. great stuff. ignore your pm, justin i threw the fuel up to stock WOT levels to start, until i could gather more info.
  12. i am in edmonton canada, and there are 3 stations with ethenol blend 94. for the whole northern province. as a rule we have also run 1 bottle stp octane boost to help the truck attain better mileage , and e add 2 bottles for hwy trips. the closest station is 20 miles from me, so we goto the esso on the corner for gas. well, mu cobalt is tuned for 94 only, so im committed for that car. what a pain. the ethanol has more octane, but less btu's i think. i get way better mileage in the car before i had no choice but goto 94. thk god my meth kit is almost in. maybe i should get snow for the truck, but the wife kinda only wants one modded car, and a pretty stock one. but back to my original question, what is a "aggressively safe" AFR @ WOT.
  13. i just use the lm-1 and hptuners, so i can log everything at same time. i dont have a guage for WB, but i have 2 vehicles that need it, so this was the cheap, but not cheap=out way.
  14. here it is, my '03 sss was mail order tuned by one of this sites supported vendors 4 years ago. i have a 06 cobaltss s/c as a beater, which wound up going to the track and needing a lot of tuning. hence i bought hpt pro and an LM-1 afr. tthe truck has the formentioned tune, and a gmpp intake, and a corsa sport. pretty tame IMHO. now the wife nagged me to log it one day, and omfg, kr up the wazoo. ive never heard it, and it's mainly her ride, so hear no evil, see no evil. mind you it is only under WOT between 3200-6500 rpm. i run 91 always, and the odd tank of 94, which yeilds lesser mileage. i havent got around to welding my spare bung yet, so i use my tail sniffer on it. i have already added fuel to about stock levels at WOT, and am putting a 160 stat in tomorrow. i have my file prepped for fan changes, and am wondering what is a nice afr target to hit. i am going to pull timing, but want to keep as much as possible of coarse. i am used to my rich as hell cobalt and know the truck will lean out a lot more safely, so I'm asking the noob Q of the day. p.s. the truck is doing holidays in the mountains next week, so I am kinda in a hurry. please and thank you.
  15. i just finished installing my gmpp intake. fits like a glove, looks killer.
  16. my blue on in alberta has 51k on it, 2003.
  17. what year did a truck stop being a truck?
  18. zippy, i have a question, since your the resident tranny expert, the 4L65E is in our trucks, and gm advertises this same transmission model in 3/4 ton. now you stated that its NOT the same. i belive you; are there more clutches in the other? what makes it different. i know the optional allison comes with the diesels. according to chevrolet.ca, the 06 ss doesnt come in awd. i need awd for winter, or my wife will crash more.... anone know if 07 will have awd again in canada? if not ill keep mine and not haul with it, ill buy a POS ford to beat on
  19. thx for the glimmer of hope, zippy!!!! your a god, i trust you, but i was saving for a TBSS, or a vette really didnt want to ditch my ss
  20. http://www.pullrite.com/superglide_16.htm this should fix that issue. costly, but it automatically slides during turning to give the trailer 14 inches more, so you can do a 90 degree turn. ive thought about the hitch as an important part, and looked at this site a year ago. i have a class1 tractor trailers licence, and stopping to slide the 5th wheel is a drag. (sometimes you need to do it to get proper axle weight, and doing so may cause the reefer to hit the headache rack in a tight backup turn.) i assumed id have similar issues here. thank you all for the input.
  21. hard to say what could be damaged. ss has the 3/4 ton transmission, and enought power. we have enhanced braking over a regular 1500 it seems, or is it the circumference of the 20's that keeps the tires cooler to stop better? the ss weighs more than the trailer ive seen as well. my stealership cant answer my questions, except that buy a new one, it can tow! what a load of crap. my 03, has 38,000kms on it or about 24,000 miles. why get a new one?
  22. i did the search and found a thread that wasnt conclusive, looking for more up to day info i guess. and i do have my old 16" gmc alloys off my 2000 z71. dealer says trucks payload is 1400 lbs, and can tow up to 10000 lbs. provided 5th wheel cab clearance and tounge weight is within spec. i found a slideout 26' that has 1,130 tongue and weighs 5900 dry. sounds about as big as i'd want to push it. i still have my old pcm to keep some tq. managment. and i put air ride on another of my vehicles, it is nice option. hmmm......
  23. does anyone have a 5th wheel trailer? what is chev spec on ss trailering, doesnt say in manual or on chev site that i can find. gotta keep the wife happy, and i'd rather keep my ss, opposed to trading it for a big lunky diesel 3/4 ton!!!
  24. it sure looks like it could fly under radar...... great drug smugglers private "fishing" boat.d
