  1. Why did I see a bunch of SSS on my way to San Pedro to do my taxes? I saw you all in between the two bridges on Ocean blvd.

Funny thing is I just came here to check in the other day and saw this thread. When I saw you guys, I remembered this thread.

  2. That's a pretty good story alex. Gotta say, after I bought yours and ran it a little, it felt pretty doggy. But that was after driving my old SS built to the nuts. I've heard enough about tundras to question how this SS will do, which is why I'm making some changes. Your SS just gave me a really well cared for/appearance modded truck to work with. Can't stand the thought of getting beat by a tundra, but honestly doesn't drive my decision to improve performance. I guess nice kill, but sounds like the guy u were running was a jackass anyway. Not saying you're not faster! Glad we both came out of thing happy with our trucks. Good to see you hangin around still.

Ya, it wasn't really about beating an SS. It was more about making that guy feel like an @$$!

I saw your thread about the hood. Seems like there is always drama huh? I'm glad you are happy with it.

alex your now a bad person.

so after owning an SS for all that time and never doing any performance stuff you now have that persona once you get into a tundra, i think thats a little ironic lol

glad to see you gave someone , something they deserved . from what you described who cares what he was driving . a douche comes in all colors .

hows everything else going for ya?

Everything's cool. Like I said, I haven't done a damn thing to the tundra besides fog lamps. I'm just driving and enjoying it. Most of the mod funds have went to the Harley this year with more to come next year.

I saw you got your truck back. Hopefully it runs like you expect it to. That motor just plain looks sic!

Oh ya, doctor told me I was borderline diabetic. Since then I've dropped a few pounds. Can't say exactly how much because I really don't care, but I look a whole lot different. Feeling good these days as well.

Hope all is well with you and yours as well.

  3. Mostly everyone knows me here. I bought my '04 SSS brand new in '03. Since I sold my SSS to a fellow member, I've removed all my pics to post.

    I replaced my '04 SSS with a '10 Tundra with the 5.7

    Here's the story.........

Coming from the mall and saw a black SSS getting off the freeway driving like an @$$. You all know what I'm talking about. Weaving in and out of traffic, tailgating, etc. Well, he gets behind me to make a left turn. We turn left, no biggie. He passes me up still tailgating, blah, blah, blah. We get to a stop light together with no one in front of us and a dark open street with no lights for at least a half mile. I'm thinking this is the perfect time for me to test this truck out as I have always thought the Tundra was faster than my SSS. He's posted up at the crosswalk and I'm sitting a bit back. I'm lined up with his extra cab. I can tell he wants to run. The light turns green we both jam! We both leave at the same time. I really couldn't believe what I saw. I literally left him. He could not catch up and eventually just gave up and moved behind me. After a bit he moved to the other lane and did the usual speeding drive by. I was a bit in shock and happy at the same time. I have always thought my Tundra was faster than my SSS. Before anyone asks, "was he racing?", YES he was! I heard that damn motor almost wanting to explode as I passed him.

My Tundra is bone stock with the exception of adding fog lights and just having the first 5K mile service done. That SSS looked stock as well. It had silver wheels, but otherwise, looked completely stock. It did have some type of exhaust though.

I'm not knocking the SSS, but having owned both, I must say that my Tundra is faster. Maybe he couldn't drive, what ever. Either way I smoked his @$$!

Remember, I used to own a SSS so relax on the stone throwing!!!! :fingersx:

  4. that would be your receiver drier.

unless you see a dirty/oily/filmy buildup around the connection you can hear a hiss from, you don't have to worry about it.

OK, it's clean as a whistle there.

So that line that I touched should have been cold?

Any ideas as to what could be the problem? Could it just need a charge? What puzzles me is that it just stopped all of a sudden. As for MR. P's response, I don't have that noise. Should I just take it in? Any thing I should check out?

  5. what i am a little confused about is where you are actually touching your lines. if you are touching either line off the condenser which is in front of the radiator (small [high pressure] lines) they will both be hot/warm. but if you are touching the large line (suction) then it will be cold. at the same time, if this line is cool, but there is no air flow over the evaporator (removing heat from the cab) then the suction line will usually get extremely cold and will accumulate frost (especially in humid environments). you may have a low charge while at the same time have an actuator fault.

OK, maybe I thought I knew what I was talking about. Maybe it wasn't the condensor. The line I was touching is located on the passengers side near the dash in the engine compartment and I believe it was a large line. What is that round thing called? It was a line that looked like it was going into (maybe out, hell I don't know) that round canister thing. At the same time, while I was touching that line, I could hear a hiss that sounded like a leak at that connection. I put my hand over the connection and it sounded like the hissing got lower. I guess I should have turned the AC off to see if the hissing stopped. I can do that today if it would help. I did try to tighten it, but it wouldn't budge and I didn't want to mess anything up because it seemed like those connections were made out of aluminum.

Hopefully that cleared things up. I can always take pics if need be.

    Any ideas?

  6. door mode actuator can have something to do with it . these are what switch it from hot to cold . very infamous for taking a shit and making some noise in the front dash .

now it is possible your low on freon but i have seen this condition in quite a few cars with the auto climate control , including my good friend who just bought an 06 gmc crew cab and it does the same thing and sometimes will be fine if you turn the car of and then on .

here are some tsb's to check up on

    http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?t=33907

OK, so since the tube is getting cold, would that rule out that it's a freon problem? I can understand that it may be low, but if it's getting cold, there is some freon correct?

I would check out that actuator, but I don't have a manual for this vehicle. Any ideas where it is?

  7. Hello all

No I haven't purchased another SSS, but I do check out this site often.

I'm having a problem with my wifes Yukon XL that maybe you guys can help me with. It basically has the same AC set up with the exception of a different rear control. Just recently it stopped blowing cold. It wasn't a gradual thing, it just happened one day. We just got back from a 7 day vacation and I just started to take a look at it today. I remember I had a problem with my SSS when I would disconnect the battery, it would blow hot. After a while or even after I re-disconneceted the battery and hooked it back up, it went back to blowing cold. Kind of wierd and of wonder if others have that problem.

Anyways, in the Yukon, there are two different, actually three different controls. The front on the dash is for just the front. Above in the ceiling console is for the rear and right behind the center floor console there is another control for the rear. When the front stopped blowing cold, I would turn the rear on with the overhead console (with the front on as well) and it would blow cold in the front and the rear. I know, wierd right? Now it all doesn't blow cold at all no matter what I do. I've turned on the AC while the truck is on and I can hear the compressor turn on. I've touched one of the tubes at the condensor and it's cold. It doesn't build up any frost, but it's cold. I haven't looked under the truck to see if there is any water dripping while it's on, but I would assume there is no drip because I would have noticed it.

Now it is possible that it needs recharging since it's a 2006 and I have no idea if it's been serviced. We've had it since October of '07. It was basically brand new and had something like 24K miles on the odometer. It used to blow real, real cold. All of a sudden it stopped.

I did disconnect the battery today to see if I could produce the same results as my SSS. The first time I did it and reconnected it, it blew HOT. Like the heater was on, but the temp said 60*. That's the same result I got with my SSS back in the day. I disconnected and reconnected it again and it blew HOT for a while, but went back to ambient temp. No cold air what so ever. I stopped after that and figure I would try here first before taking it in.

Any tips or tricks I can try before I take it in? This forum has provided me with alot of useful info and hopefully you guys can come through again.

    TIA!

  8. Congrats to the saler and to the buyer.

Ignore the Toyota jokes. I still think 99% of the problems are just made up. I've been driving my Toyota for 3yrs now without any problems.

I'm not worried about it. Toyota has been at the top of the new vehicle market for a long time and just because of a few incidents, everyone is soo quick to bad mouth them. I could care less because I know Toyota will stand behind their product.

i dont think alex is a sailor he works close to the sea but not quite on it , definatly has a potty mouth though :jester:

    That's fu*king right!!! :jester:

  9. I guess you must have got that for a good deal with all the shit Toyota is going through.

Got to admit the 0% financing is one of the reasons that lured me to them. Not only that, there is WAYYY more room in the rear than a GMC/Chevy along with a rear sliding window. This truck is just more practical for me now. I'm over all the hype of fixing up trucks. I handled that with mine and I got to admit, it was one of the best, tastefully done, SSS on this site.

    :wtf: Seriously bro?

Sorry you had to let the SS go man. I wish I knew you were gonna sell it, I probably woulda bought those Intro's off you

Everyone does what works for them. This works for me. I looked at a GMC crewcab and there were things that bothered me about it. One was the leg room in the rear was small compared to the Tundra. Another was the grab handle located on the door hit my ****ing knee while I was driving. I mean really, WTF are they thinking.

I had my rims up for sale/trade here many times. Everyone says that once they are gone.

  10. alex man , cant say im happy for you. your SS is so clean why rid of it? im sure a new truck would be great and i admit new is always nice. but cmon man , a tundra? not american , with all toyota problems ? why not go buy a denali truck in the nbs ? the interior is second to none , the 6 speed with the 6.2 will put a hurting on the tundra in looks and speed . price is a bit more but dam the denali trucks are what i see you rollin

My SSS just isn't practical anymore. My daughter is getting older which means she needs more than "extra cab" room. That is the main reason for getting rid of it plus I'm over it. We never drive it anywhere. That's why it's so clean and dent free. Another reason why I'm trying to get away from Chevy/GMC is because I have lost faith in them and their product. I would love to buy American, but Chevy/GMC hasn't done enough to make me want to buy their product again. You guys can have it!

As for my next choice, Toyota has an extremely good track record with the exception of what has been happening lately. These recalls do not sway my decision at all for getting a Tundra Crewmax. I know Toyota will stand behind their product. Funny you mention Denali. I went looking at GMC's as well as Toyotas. The GMC's are nice, but the Tundra just kills the GMC when it comes to room inside, not to mention the power rear sliding window. I'm not looking to do a damn thing to this truck and I just find the Tundra fits my needs better than a GMC. Now I'm not saying I won't end up with a GMC, but if I had a choice, it would definitely be a Tundra. I doubt I'll get a Denali, just too damn much $$$$ for things I really don't need. Like I said, I'm looking for practical for my next truck. No bed cover, no wheels, no lowering or lifting, no big motor, NOTHING!!! I'll just install a flip down TV for my daughter if it doesn't come with one.

Toyota isn't doing bad considering these recalls. The Toyota dealer close to me is the second largest dealer in SoCal and when I went to look at the Tundras last week, they had NONE. I mean not one Tundra Crewmax. Guy tells me as soon as they come in, they are purchased. That speaks volumes to me!

  11. time to paint the forks to match. Sexy bike man, my father-in law would love this... he's got a dyna now and its a killer bike around town, but when he rides to sturgis it wears ya out quick too... but he's crazy 100mph+ loner, def not a pack guy

I like the contrast the forks give the bike. I had initially thought about powdercoating them flat black, but I think it would be too much up front.

Plus I like the fact that no one likes those polished fork. Makes my bike different from the rest.

  12. I'm in IT and I've been so for over 5 years as a proffesion. Download Malwarebytes at Malwarebytes.org in either safe mode or on a flash drive and load it on, and run it. The name of that virus is called a Vondu virus, its sort a trojan that hides in your registry. It can be a PITA, but that program will get rid of it.

Run the software once, do a CClean and you should be good to go. Trust me on this it will work. :pepsicheer:

Ok, I did that and it still won't connect to regular sites. Still only secure sites.

What I did was download what you suggested into a flash drive and installed it into said PC. Ran the program. It found two and I got rid of them. Then I cleaned all the drives and restarted. Still the same.

    Any other suggestions?
