Which bracket are you saying gets in the way.. the half-moon curved thing from the fender to the firewall?  Not sure how important those are.  My '06 was missing those when I first got it (no idea why) and I drove it like that for years without 'em.  Only noticed they were gone when I got another SS and saw them, and said.. hey.. LOL so I grabbed a couple and installed.

That's exactly the bracket I'm talking about! I mean, if you ran without them for years, I'm just wondering if I can eliminate it on the passenger side.

  2. I see a lot of threads about battery drain and the instrument cluster. However my battery drain started after my truck was stolen and I installed a new ignition cylinder. Every so often when I park my truck, turn it off and open the door, the chime dings like I have the key still in the ignition. If I put the key back in and jiggle it around it will go off. Sometimes it won't ding when I get out but when I come back to the truck in a few minutes and open the door, the chime starts dinging.

Is it something with the ignition cylinder and how it was installed? They got into the truck by prying under the outside door handle but I had all that stuff replaced after the truck got recovered. Maybe I missed something in the steering column by the ignition cylinder?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. I tried searching for something on this but couldn't find anything so sorry if this has been addressed...

Has anyone installed an auxiliary battery in the engine compartment with an isolater? I know on police Tahoes they put the auxiliary battery up against the firewall on the passenger side but that bracket on the SSS cuts down the available height clearance.

I'm interested in installing one because I plan on hard wiring up some stuff for camping (inverter, bed lights, work lights, etc.)

    Thanks in advance~

  4. Hey everyone! It's been YEARS since I've been on the forum. So I guess I'll reintroduce myself lol.

I've got a 2004 SSS that I bought new. I've lowered it and put on an exhaust but that's all for performance mods. Recently I installed a Retrax tonneau cover and Yakima Overhaul rack system. Hoping to get more active in the forum since I've got the mod bug again.

  5. The button really does not do anything.

If you want to add and Aux imput you need an intigration kit of some sort.

Check out this one, it will work for what you need

    http://www.amazon.com/PAC-Aux2Car-Universal-Auxiliary-Interface/dp/B0007CK30I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1362436822&sr=8-1&keywords=Pac+audio+PXDX

And I think you need this adapter for it

Thanks for the info but that one you mentioned is for a radio with an external cd changer. I haven't checked but do our BOSE systems have a cd changer port in the rear? I'm checking out PAC's website now and seeing if they have anything available that doesn't require me tapping into the radio antenna and using an fm channel.

Seems like it would be simpler to just buy an aftermarket head unit but I can't spend the buckolas right now :o(

  6. Hi all,

Its been forever since I've been on. Too long. Anyway, I'm looking for a way to plug in a 1/8" plug into the stock stereo. I noticed that there is an "aux" under the "cd" button. Does that actually do anything? I'm looking to hook up my portable satellite receiver to the stock system. I've got the Bose multi cd system WITHOUT satellite radio.

    Thanks all!

  7. I'm selling 3 stock silver 20" wheels with center caps. These are original equipment GM wheels off a 2003 SSS. I'm selling them individually in hopes that they sell faster. I have pictures up on my Webshots page through this link:

    http://rides.webshots.com/album/579616976VxMWjI?vhost=rides

I figured this is a lot easier than posting a whole bunch of photos.

I have numbered the wheels 1-3 and all of them are in very good to excellent condition. The center caps are like new with no flaws in them at all. Here is a brief description to go along with the photos:

Wheel #1 - This wheel is in the best condition. Only one or two small marks and a small ding in the rim. $250

Wheel #2 - More scuffs than #1 and a couple of chips. $225

Wheel #3 - Photos show this with a tire mounted. THE TIRE IS NOT INCLUDED. I will dismount the tire tomorrow. This wheel shows scraping on the edge of the rim on the outside and inside and has a lot more scuffs than #2. $200

All the wheels still have a great finish on the spokes with just the minor flaws I have listed. The photos speak for themselves. I will include 1 center cap with each wheel which means I have one left to sell individually. I'll take offers on it.

Shipping: The cost of shipping is paid by the buyer. Each wheel weighs around 40 lbs so figure that into the additional cost. I will ship UPS Ground which is probably the cheapest way. If you're in Northern California and close to me I will try and meet you somewhere to save you the shipping cost. I live in Tracy, CA and work in Walnut Creek, CA.

  8. Hey all,

Been off the boards for a while and I missed it!

I've got a brand new, in the box, set of McGaughys leaf spring lowering hangers. Part #33035, fits 99-06 Chevy/GMC 2WD/4WD trucks. McGaughys says they will lower the rear 1-2 inches. If installed with the rear spring shackles then 3-4 inches.

I'm sure you all know McGaughys quality so nuff said. I've got these on Ebay for a buy-it-now of $140 shipped to lower 48. For everyone here I'll do $125 shipped to lower 48 or if you want to bid on Ebay the starting price is $99. Paypal is fine. I can email photos if you want.

I've also got a print out of the step by step instructions I got off of this forum. Very helpful!

    Thanks!
