    Yeah, and though I have them too I gotta think on your cubes those JBA's may be bottling you up a bit. Primaries just too small.

     

    If you do go to a smaller pulley or the MP122 you might want to get some

    1 3/4 - 1 7/8" long tubes, too. :thumbs:

    I see where your comin from about the LS7... However i just dont think that chevrolet is ready to put a hand built 505 hp monster in.....a truck. Sorry just dont see it happinin man. its bad enought that they are considering putting the LS7 in the new camaro. Now i know chevy is kinda guilty of it with the TBSS with the LS2.

     

    Chevy does not need to look a dodge, lets see here, dodge threw the HEMI at every car and truck they make basically, and now they are selling out with putting their infamous viper engine in a truck. I know its fast but still. I mean you would think that dodge would make their HEMI more potent than it is. cuz after all most of us here have killed many of them. they should have ditched the 345 hp model and introduced it in the 425 hp model. and i bet they would get more respect from competitors. and now that i think about it, FORD is doing the same thing. they have the ford gt engine which they use the same blower and block in their lightnings.

     

    N E ways, dont get me wrong i think its a great marketing tool but i just dont think Chevrolet is gonna sell out like that.

    I said that I wish they would use the LS7 in a truck, not that I think they will.

     

    I am not sure I see it as "selling out" though. Mercedes is putting the new 500 HP AMG hand-built 6.2 liter in performance versions of most of its models, including SUV's. If you have a good engine design, why not use it in more vehicles? The LS7 is still just a big old pushrod V8 anyway, with essentially the same block as an LS2. Put it in a Camaro SS, a CTS-V, a sport truck. If you want the Vette a little hotter just stick a bigger cam in it at the factory. if you're afraid of ticking off the guys who spent $75-80K for a Z06, it's still going to be a helluva lot faster than a 5000 lb. truck.

     

    Besides, the Dodge V10 in trucks predates the Hemi. And as far as Chevy looking at Dodge, maybe both GM an Ford need to do so to improve their market share a bit. Daimler-Chrysler ain't stupid, and I do respect the fact that they are willing to put 425 plus HP in sedans and trucks and not just two seat sports cars. Don't get me wrong, I've always been a Chevy guy...I just want to see the brand do well and see them put out more than just one exciting vehicle The use of the LS7 doesn't have to be limited to just one car. :chevy:

    The SRT10 was expensive and not good on gas, two things that are hard to overlook, but I would still love one if I could ...?

    Sport trucks are dying one by one... the Lightning is gone, now the SRT10...  :sigh:

     

    I agree. I've always been more of a Chevy guy, but it almost makes me want to go out and buy a Ram SRT10. It's definitely the strongest factory stock effort anyone has ever made at a performance truck.

     

    I don't have the bux, and I personally like AWD, but then again I would like the six speed manual tranny as a tradeoff. There's a low mileage 2005 RC on a local lot for like 29 beans... :sigh:

    I also like both trucks. Obviously, I own an SS. What I really respect about the Dodge is that they had the cojones to to take the no-holds-barred approach and put their biggest, baddest engine in a sport truck, knowing it wouldn't compete with the Viper because of weight and because it's intended for a completely different buyer. And, you get 500+ HP with a factory warranty. :thumbs:

     

    If only the General would do the same. An LS7 in a new SSS or better yet a Colorado SS would be awesome. I wish GM would take some Daimler/Chrysler pills and be a little more uncompromising. All the Gen III/IV engines have great potential and our trucks are good starting points for mods, but it would be nice to be able to buy a pickemup with 500 horses right off the Chevy showroom floor. Then again, I'm sure I would just mod it anyway. :uhoh:

    I would be more embarrassed trying to race an SUV than in an SUV loosing a race. Now I could see if it was something like a turbocharged Typhoon or Porscha but not some typical N/A SUV. Thats just me I guess.

     

    That's because you "got boost." Some of these luxury SUV's like the FX45, the Caddy SRX N* and the bigger engined BMW X5's and Mercedes ML's are quicker than a stock SSS in the quarter. :ughdance:

     

    Not to mention the N/A TBSS and Jeep SRT 8, although they are hardly typical. :shakehead:

     

    Good kill on a worthy opponent, if you ask me... :chevy:

    well where do you get the harness? and i am fixinng to get a custom tune for my pcm anyways i'll just do it then if zippy can do it, i know nuthin about a custom tune

     

    If you get hold of Zippy he can help you out with the wiring for the fans. He can also get you a good deal on the factory e-fans as another option. :chevy:

    Per Benkey's post the little bottles at the auto parts store are essentially worthless. You can add toluene or xylene by the gallon; they have AKI ratings of 114 and 117 respectively. One gallon of Xylene added to nine gallons of pump 87 would yield ten gallons of 90 octane fuel.

     

    I have used them in the past to further raise the octane on the best gas I can get around here, Sunoco 94, but it would not be a cost effective way to boost 87 when unleaded premium is available.

     

    The price of gas sucks but if you buy a full sized truck designed to run on premium, and you strap on a blower, you gotta pay to play. :chevy:

    :tear:  :tear:  :tear:  Now thats a fact!  Especially with interstate 95 closed, and me having to take US 1 to work everyday!! :banghead:

     

    Just nosey... what kind of mileage do you get in the real world 1stDodge? I get about 13.5 mpg in a 16 mile round trip pretty much all city daily commute, with a kinda heavy foot... :puke:

    Well...

     

    The AWD SS supposedly tips the scales at 5192 pounds empty...

     

    Not sure how much the transfer case/front driveshaft, differential etc. weigh but I doubt it's as much as 500 plus lbs.

     

    There could have been other weight reduction measures on the newer trucks though... :chevy:

    I chose the SS for the same reason. I wanted a sport truck with AWD.

     

    AWD is the ticket in the stoplight-to-stoplight wars. You can outlaunch just about anything. Also, in a daily driver in this climate, the AWD really helps in the rain and snow. No I wouldn't attempt to run through the deep, unplowed, untracked stuff or go off-roading (at least on the stock tires), but I can get around town and down the highway just fine. Plus, on wet roads, AWD helps handling as well as straight-ahead traction.

     

    If you ask me, it was a mistake for GM to do away with the AWD option. It's not for everyone, but heck it was a key feature in the original Silverado SS concept. :chevy:

    if its 2wd he should have killed him on top end, unless he has mods something isnt right!

     

    I agree. The Titan is a strong running truck with a nice powertrain, and will give a stock SS a run for the money on the highway. However, even an AWD SS will pull one in the end. IMHO there is no way he could have blown by you like that if he's stock and your truck is running OK. :wtf:

    Its worth the danger.  If you dont take risks in life, whats the point of living?

     

    I tend to agree, but again the problem is it's not just you and the guy you're racing that you're putting at risk. Some unrelated person can get injured or killed who didn't get to decide whether or not to take that risk.

     

    Obviously we all have to be in control and I think if necessary pass on a race if we see pedestrian or other auto traffic we could encounter.

     

    Everybody be careful out there... :sigh:
