  1. A complimentary intake and exhaust will allow you to get the most from a quality tune. Many people here run the Outlaw Power intakes with tunes.
  2. Here is the Outlaw Power vs Stock vs K&N (the plastic one). Outlaw Power developed their intake on 4 silveradoss.com members' trucks. Get a tune too.
  3. *Intake: Many of us here have the Outlaw Power intake because it was developed on 4 member's SS at Outlaw Power and is proven to make power, reduce ET's and help your mpg (if you keep off the gas pedal). The dynos are here: http://www.outlawpower.com/productdetail.php?sc=1274 *Exhaust: This recomendation highly depends on the sound you are trying to achieve. *Tune: A "dyno tuned" custom tune is best after you have your mods installed. Most importantly over brand is the talent of the ecu programmer/dyno operator.
  4. jimp, Did you get it with the red oiled cotton filter or with their new Neveroil white filter? http://www.outlawpower.com/productdetail.php?sc=1274
  5. Volant exhaust systems sound rice because they are made in China.
  6. www.outlawpower.com/productdetail.php?sc=1274 See this link and click the thumb link to see the dyno of the "Outlaw Power" vs "K&N" vs "stock" intake systems.
  7. Did he mean $12 for all the stock speakers? I know the Bose drivers cost about $1.18 each to make.
  8. Dyno tune by a qualified shop with wideband AF to verify the tune at Part throttle and WOT.
  9. That Rotrex system looks great. Are they working with Jackson Racing to develop these systems?
  10. Open filter intakes like the K&N and AEM are considered WAIs (Warm Air Intakes). Closed filter intakes like the Outlaw Power and Banks Power are considered CAIs (Cold Air Intakes). The best non-oiled filters on the market are the AEM DryFlow and Outlaw Power NeverOil, both were OEM developed with Caterpillar. Outlaw Power is well known on this forum but you may not have heard of them so here is the product info for our vehicles: http://www.outlawpower.com/productdetail.php?sc=1274 A few of us SSS forum members helped Outlaw Power in the development of that intake.
  11. Summer heat will kill batteries. Have you checked you battery fluid level? Sometimes it's just as simple as the water evaporating out of your battery.
  12. RP is some of the best synthetic oil that is readily available in the market, i.e. not a tweaky custom speciality brand.
  13. 1. Sorry I don't know the quality brands anymore. The ones I got back in the day were made by Mallory for Autosound 2000 (Richard Clark and David Navone) 2. Rule of thumb is 1F per 1000 watts. But since you have a Class D amp, you might only need a 0.5F cap. Your amplifier already has capacitors built in. Did the manufacturer add enough? We don't know. If the guys that say adding caps will reduce their SPL, they should open up their amplifiers, unsolder and remove their power supply caps so that they can get even more spl. I added caps for the pure reason of eliminating headlight dimming when the bass hits. It worked. As a side benefit, the engine started quicker because the starter was getting the propper voltage from the cap!
  14. This truck here has optional 10.0L to 16.0L engines: www.kenworth.com/2100_vir_t2000.asp The main thing these guys care about is fuel economy: www.kenworth.com/brochures/FuelEfficiency.pdf
  15. Here are the dyno's done by a few members here of the Volant intake versus the Outlaw Power and stock: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=450655 Outlaw Power vs "New" Volant Design
  16. Improved mpg means better efficiency, so for every drop of gas that is used, a larger percentage of that drop is converted into POWER which translates into motion and therefore distance. I doubt anybody here would complain about more power. Many things that improve mileage will also improve acceleration: less weight - carbon fiber parts, lighter rims and tire combos. less friction - synthetic lubrication. less aero drag - bed cover, lowered suspension. less engine air flow restriction - exhaust, cold air intake
  17. Both Nitrous and Meth have a cooling effect. Nitrous supplies extra O2 to the combustion process, not fuel. Nitrous without extra fuel can cause your motor to go lean. Meth supplies extra fuel to the combustion process, not O2. Meth without extra air can cause your engine to run rich. Heck, use both!
  18. I think the original poster is interested in a cooling system or way to get extra power without extermally filling a bottle. Here's one idea. Install an electric driven air compressor with tank. Perhaps the similar to that used for power tools. Once the air is compressed and stored in the tank, the compressor is turned off. Air cools down when it expands, so when you need the extra power, the high pressure compressed air can be released thus "freezing" the intercooler.
  19. Do you have a high flow air intake system yet? The stock air box is too restrictive with the extra flow demands created by your supercharger. http://www.outlawpower.com/productdetail.php?sc=1481 Dyno chart is in that link. This replaces the stock air box.
  20. Just a FYI, loading typically gives higher HP and TQ results, this is because with higher loading, there are less inertial effects. This is why the factory measures HP and TQ at static rpm points, to get the absolute highest loading at a particular RPM to eliminate inertial effects. For a set dyno load, inertial effects also explain why higher gears give higher HP and TQ results than lower gears.
