  1. I'm just gearing up to replace my broken front bumper cover and I noticed that the front license plate holder is held on by some weird rivet or screw. I haven't seen these things before. Can anyone tell me what they are and how they come off? Regards, Dan

    Current Draw

Disconnect the positive. Put an ammeter (most small multimeters will measure current) inline with the positive and the battery and start pulling fusues to identify which device is the culprit. A well planned, methodical approach will give you your answer. Regards, Dan
  3. The calipers work great. Am I on the right track when I assume I have to service the 'pins' the calipers slide on so brake pad wear is even? Regards, Dan
  4. I'm due for a front brake job again and after a quick inspection something puzzled me. On both fronts the inside pad is gone but the outside pad is about 50%. Does this mean my calipers aren't sliding as they should to equalize pad wear? Regards, Dan
  5. Pics or a link to floor mats. Regards, Dan
  6. As the title says...........how difficult is it to change the serpintine belt? I have about 50K and I was looking around the engine bay the other day and I can see cracks in what I think is the A/C belt so I thought I'd do both. Comments or suggestions anyone? Regards, Dan
  7. What about the 11 people that died? BP has started finger pointing suggesting that Haliburton and TransOcean were negligent in the service and operation of the rig. If that's true who is going to be held accountable for the 11 deaths? Regards, Dan
  8. That's what mine did. Drove me nuts looking for something loose for the first little while. Then the dealership diagosed that my passenger side cat had 'come apart' internally. In my case it really affected my gas mileage and driveability by being partially plugged. Lucky for me the guys here gave me the heads up and I got mine replaced under warranty. Regards, Dan
  9. What about a paintball gun? Hurts like hell at close range and the idot will be marked for awhile! Regards, Dan
  10. I wonder if this is it? ProCharger Race Valve Regards, Dan
  11. $149 for shipping? Is that typical? Regards, Dan

    Help!

My recent plugged cat on my '03 caused a misfire and as a result a flashing CEL. This only occured at high rpm and went away after a few seconds. Regards, Dan
  13. Here's the interesting part for me. I take it in on Monday with a loud rattle that I can't find where it's coming from. They charge me about 1 hour shop time to tell me the loud rattle is internal to the right side cat. They don't tell me it's potentially under warranty. Thanks to the guys here I find out it is. I go back to see them on Tuesday and they say they're not replacing it unless it throws a code related to the cat or causes a 'driveability issue'. I tell them that I've had a driveability (substantially reduced mileage and throttle response) issue I've been trying to figure out for the last couple of months. They say too bad and go on to describe a driveability issue as all the way from 'very noticeable' to the vehicle is 'undriveable'. I get pissed off and leave and as a stroke of good luck for me I'm redlining it going onto the highway on the way home and I get a flashing CES light and the truck starts running rough for a second. I turn around and go back to the dealer and say well I just threw a code now and ask to see the shop foreman. He puts his OBDII machine and tells me I had a misfire in cyls 2 and 6. I ask him if thats on the right side of the motor and he doesn't say anything. Well, after some 'discussion' he relents and agrees to replace the cat. So I take it in on Wednesday and they replace the cat. BTW if I had paid the bill it would've been close to $1k for the replacement of a single right side cat. What I find funny is they didn't do this pre and post cat pressure test when they charged me $60 to tell me my cat was bad. They only did the test when they were replacing it under warranty. BTW. My truck is running alot better now. Regards, Dan
  14. I've made a few posts in this forum about this topic recently but the end of the story is GM agreed to replace my very loud and defective right side cat. The only question I have left is what they put on the invoice. They put: Cause: L2300 (1H) 1.5 BACK PRESSURE WAS HIGH AT 3 SPEC IS 1.25 Do they actually have the means to 'measure' backpressure? I find this odd. Regards, Dan
  15. I'm going to have a close look at both PLX and Aeroforce. Does this look like a suitable guage pod? Regards, Dan
  16. After having a few engine issues lately I'd like the ability to monitor some of my OBDII stuff real time. After a quick look around I saw the Edge Performance Guage but at $500 it's abit much. I also looked into the Gtech products but didn't see anything I liked. After another look around I found the PLX stuff and the Multi Guage looks kinda cool but it's $399. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Regards, Dan
  17. What happened to the popularity of the GM TB converters? I still have mine in a box in the basement. I think I paid $300 or $350 for it. Regards, Dan
  18. Anyone Have A LQ9 Engine Diagram? I had a misfire in 2 and 6 that went away and I want to know where they are. Anyways, the misfire is probably due to a cloggged cat mentioned in another post. GM has changed its mind and is now going to replace the CAT. Regards, Dan
  19. Many thanks!!! It's under warranty and the dealer didn't tell me. If I was closer to you guys I'd buy you a beer. Regards, Dan
  20. I'm in Canada so we'll see if the same rules apply. Regards, Dan
  21. The next step then...............the GM cat will probably be $500 or more (just guessing but I'll know tomorrow) so let's talk Magnaflow or SLP high flow cats. Any suggestions? Regards, Dan
  22. For the last few months I've been having an issue with my truck that I can't figure out. The symptoms are dramatically reduced mileage (about 25% less) and about 10-15% more throttle required to do everything at light loads. When I'm driving around town light acceleration seems to take slightly more throttle and and I hear the intake growl all the time now. My favourite slight grade going up the street to my home use to be light throttle all the way up. Now it's alittle more throttle and a downshift. It's almost like I'm pulling a small trailer around and the truck is loaded down. On the other side of things full throttle performance doesn't 'seem' to be affected. One of the reasons I posted this is I just found out today a loud rattle I've had for about the same amount of time is inside one of my cats. My Loud Rattle This I've done lately to try and fix this: New Air Filter Cleaned MAF and TB New plugs and wires New fuel filter My truck has only 50,000 miles on it so I'm alittle annoyed. Thoughts anyone? Regards, Dan
  23. Same here. Two hours of screwing around and swearing. When will GM get it? Regards, Dan
  24. I have to pass the dreaded sniffer test and a visual every second year so I can't take that chance. Regards, Dan
