  1. My 04 SS, has been doing this for years now. Every time I come up for inspection I have to go through drive cycle to reset the monitors, than leave truck running and hope they can inspect it. If I reset my oil life with the truck off after a few hours it goes from 100% to 0.

I took the plugs off the ECU checked pin 20 & 57 on C1 connector they have 12v with truck off. I am thinking it is the ECU. Anyone have any input? Outside of this, the truck runs and drives perfect.

    Thanks for any input

  2. Well, without getting into a lengthy write-up on my guess, I would simply say that the truck (PCM, BCM etc.) loses power and resets randomly. Your readiness checks also all go to "incomplete" if power to the PCM is cut (or reflashed) which would also confirm my guess (hence failing the OBDII inspection).

Check your battery connections, clean them if needed to start.

Did your clock reset to 1200 during this event by any chance?

The clock is ok. Radio stations ok. Truck starts right up. Over weekends it is sometimes not used and on Monday clock still ok. Thanks for the input

  3. Hey guys how you doing. My 04 SS with 69k keeps resetting the oil life. I have reset it to 100% multiple times. I did the normal combination key on position hitting gas pedal. I even hit the gas pedal more and let it sit with ignition on for a few minutes. Tried a bunch of combos. It always says oil life reset. A few hrs later with truck off, is says 0 life remaining. Maybe related I put a new batt in 3 months ago. It failed inspection all my codes are coming up n/a. I drove it almost 1000 miles and it failed again. Still missing like 4 codes. Truck starts and runs excellent. No problems no check engine light. Anyone know if the ECU has an internal batt? Thanks for any input you guys have to offer.

  4. I installed the Ground Force kit. I never flipped the leaf spring, because I couldn't see what the difference was with fliping it :dunno: Also I never installed shims because I don't feel any vibration.

What does flipping the spring do??

I am very happy with my kit. Just make sure you get an allignment.

In the directions it says flip the lower helper leaf and install new bumpers at each end in the leaf. They also gave longer pins to run threw the center of all leafs. Mine is running fine but i will flip it anyway there has to be some reason they say to do it. The kit came with new bump stops for the rear which i changed allready.

  5. I put rear Shackles only no drilling just 2 bolts on each one. It dropped 2'' no vibration. But if I load my quad in the back it will drop another 2''. So at that point im thinking I will have a 4'' drop while driving 4 hours.

Several members are running shackles and hangers for a drop larger than yours without a C-notch. I haul 400 pounds of sand in the winter with a 2" rear shackle drop and I don't bottom out unless I ram a huge dip on purpose or something.

When you have the sand in the back did you hit hwy speeds? Im curious. How much futher did the truck drop with the 400lbs. thanks

  6. it will bottom out like piss unless you put in a c notch

If your trying to scare me its working I put rear shackes in and dropped the rear 2''. And changed the front torsion keys. Put ground force shocks all around. it looks pretty level. My quad is about 350LBS i think (kfx400). From what I Have read it seems to be about 1 degree per inch of drop. So i figure if I put in 2 deg shim I should be fine. I really dont think it will bottom.

  7. Hey guys I just put my rear ground force hangers and shocks in today 2front 2 rear. I did not flip the lower leaf yet. I haul a quad pretty far so I was wondering witht he quad in the truck she may drop another 1-2''> Should I add some shim just in case? i was thinkning maybe 2 deg. Does any one know where to buy the shim? Ps my truck is AWD. thanks

  8. I dont know if you can fit it or not. But a striaght edge across the face of the 2 pullies will tell you if they are lined up. Like a steel ruller or just a piece of 1'' steel. I had same problem the blower was flexing foward under boost tossing the belt. My belt tensioner was flat no lips same with the blower pullie. I had custom pullies made with lipps on them and increased from a 6 rib to 8 rib. And I made the belt a hair longer so I got more wrap around the blower pullie. Havent thrown a belt since.

  9. I have a vortech on my olds and it is soooooo loud you need muffs when tuning it in the garage. When i first bought it i was like very cool but after a while I wish it wasnt so loud. Yes when i go to a show or something then its cool. But if I pull up next to people and they start rolling up there windows and turning around looking at me I feel kinda bad. I even tried going with a smaller pullie to spin it up a little. But that only gave me more boost and same noise at idle.

  10. I just did the torsion keys, and drop shocks It was real easy. Feels like it rides pretty good so far. I did not do the back hangers yet looks to be a bit more of a pain. I used the ground force kit. Mine is a 2"front 2'' rear. over stock it looks good. but I kinda would like a bit more. Mine is a AWD I did the front in about 1 hr. I had to hurry before wife came home. She did not notice. The only thing she noticed so far was the muffler. Thats what happens when you get married you do upgrades either in the dark or super fast.
