  1. I have an 03, AWD, Arrival Blue in Canton, Ohio... and could save you a few bucks under your $25K mark....
  2. Post your results with AutoTrader, I'm curious to see how it works for you. I was offered $18,200 on a trade for mine and I have 60,000 miles. I am not willing to accept that number and no way would I take $15K, that is just absurd.
  3. The rear pads are ceramic from the factory. I feel $202 was very high, but then again a decent set of ceramic pads cost me $40 and about 30 minutes to change. I think my 30 minutes was well worth saving the $162 difference. The dealer told me that the pads cost them $100, I don't believe that though...

    I'm lost

I am in the same boat as you. The payment limits the mods, but then again, what are you gonna buy that will be a suitable replacement? That is my dilemna. There is nothing in my mind that offers the look and the performance of the SSS. I mean my truck can be dirty as hell, and I still get compliments... that is worth a little extra in the payment in my world. Oh and from what I understand, a tune alone will make the truck behave and drive entirely differently. Either way, good luck with the truck.
  5. Thanks again for the info. I had no problem pulling the brakes off and replacing the pads. No extra tools needed. One thing, every thread I read talks about the need for a T55 to get the calipers off, but my caliper bolts were 12 mm, not torx. Just thought I would toss that out there. Again thanks for the response, your help was much appreciated. Ron
  6. Barney, Thanks for the info. This little tool we are talking about is foreign to me? Is this something I could possibly rent from AutoZone or something. I know I don't own it and don't want to tear off the brakes tonight and not be able to install the new pads. I NEVER use my parking brake, but did put it on this weekend when I jacked the truck up. I don't have a second vehicle so am trying to determine if I need this tool. Thanks for the info again, Ron
  7. Hi everyone, I rotated my tires this weekend to find my rear brakes are pretty well shot. So the local dealer just quoted me $202 for new pads. WOW. That was just new pads, nothing involving rotors. So now that I am going to do the work myself I have a few questions... 1. Are the rear brake calipers on a 2003 SS , twin piston. I hope so cause those are the pads I just bought. 2. Is there some tool need to disengage the parking brake? I read something about a screw in type system, and the post I was reading never clarified if the SS had this setup. 3. Are there any other suprises I am looking for. I mean with a price of $202 from the dealer, I am concerned there is some insane tool and method I know nothing about. I appreciate any help and advise. I have done brakes on all my other vehicles, just never the SS. Thanks again, Ron
  8. No problem, glad I could help. I investigated trading in my 2003 yesterday and they offered me $18,500. They then followed up by telling me they could seel it for around $22,000. I currently have 60,000 miles on the dot. Just thought I would post my recent findings.
  9. I am considering letting mine go. 2003 Arrival blue, just turned 60,000 miles. Basically stock as seen in sig. I am the second owner of the truck and take very good care of it with servicing, etc. It also has 2 years or 35K miles left on the extended warranty, for what it's worth. It has covered the steering shaft replacement, new wheel bearings, etc. PM me if you would like and we can talk price. Thanks, Ron
  10. Just thought I would throw this out there. The most recent truck I saw for sale was a black, 2003 with 62K mile. Nothing aftermarket that I could tell and they were asking $22,000. Figured I would throw that out there for you. Good luck with selling the truck.
  11. Well last summer the glass suddenly had a crack down the center, which I have not yet replaced. Now that the heater quit, maybe time to resolve the issue. Could you tell me where you bought the glass from, directly from GM? or did you get an aftermarket piece of glass. Thanks
  12. Hey everyone, Noticed on the drive in today that the passenger side heated mirror is no longer getting hot. The signals work, I haven't checked if the fold-away feature is working, but the heat definitely is not. Could there be a dedicated fuse for the passenger heater. I was browsing through the manual realizing there are a million fuses in this truck so I thought I would start here. Has anyone has had this problem, could it be a fuse, or did my mirror crap out on me? Any advise is appreciated. Ron
  13. Sadly, mine won't be around to long. I am not keeping it for the third front diff rebuild. Time to go, makes me sad to get rid of it though!
  14. Glad you bonded cause I went toe to toe with my Dad when I was 15ish and he really wooped my a$$... there was no bonding involved, all I said was "come on old man." It hurt!
  15. OHHHH that's different, I could support a law like that; there's no reason to physically discipline an infant. Mr. P. I agree 3 and younger there is no need to throw down a beating. But in Texas the kids are taught to call the police over corporate punishment. I already know what I would tell my son if I had one and he threatened to call the cops over a spanking. I would tell him go ahead because your mine till they get here My younger brother threatened to call the cops on my Mom and Dad for eeing disciplined. My dad picked up the phone and dialed it for him, turned around and said "here, you talk to them, cause when they get here they are going to take you away, so where do you want to go?" Well that put a stop to his attitude real fast, he didn't want to leave the comfort of his home and his parents. I feel a "beating" is not right. I was spanked and I know (now) that I deserved it. As for the law only applying to children under 3. Hey, if you smack a kid's behind, they quickly realize they did something wrong. No, they won't like it and they shouldn't. BUT, Life isn't always fun or easy and that seems to be a lesson many younger generations don't understand. Of course this is my opinion... I should have choosen a better word than "Beating" just we always kid with each other and instead of saying spanking beating seemed more laughable than spanking sorry if anyone misunderstood what I was getting at. I wasn't taking your term "beating" literally, just agreeing that a "beating" wouldn't be right. Even though I can remember a few beatings I received...

  17. Cool man, it was time for a new battery! I have wanted to post that chart here anyways so now we can find it using the search function for future newbies. Mr. P. You're always there to help! Much appreciated. FYI for the economical battery hunters, mine cost $53 with tax and has 3yr/36K free replacement and is rated for 7 years. Not to bad.
  18. Hey Mr. P, Thanks for the info. I ran to Sam's Club and bought a 770 cold cranking amp, 78 series battery and everything seems good to go. It may sound far fetched but the truck seems to run alot smoother with the new battery, maybe it's all in my head, but it runs now. Thanks again, this site and it's members are a great help! Ron
  19. Thanks for the info, could anyone tell me what the cold cranking amps are on the stock battery? Are there any brands you guys recommend staying away from? Thanks again
  20. Hey all, This morning I started the truck fine, it was sitting the last two days, un-driven. I drive about 5 miles to work and notice my passenger heated mirror not working. So in the parking lot at work, I turn the key on (truck not running) and turn all the heaters on (head lights were also on.) Go out to the truck after 5 minutes to see if the mirror is working and truck is dead. Won't turn over at all. So do you think I killed it in 5 minutes because I didn't have the truck running? or is this an obvious, "your battery is going." If so, could anyone advise me on a decent replacement battery? I know the Optima's are the best, but I don't want to spend that on one. Your input is most appreciated. Ron
  21. Yeah and I have that little thing for two weeks, I don't think it'll make it
  22. Yeah it sucked, especially cause I thought it was just another dropped call. The SS really got a work out that night trying to get to the scene.
  23. I wondered if the car was repaired, were they gonna pin this one on me. It obviously didn't happen from the accident and the cop saw me. ALOT of adrenalin at that moment.
  24. Hey everyone, Thanks for all the response. I have taken the time to document everything and have alot of paperwork. I spoke with the Leasee and we had gap insurance, so no matter what this woman's company offers, I don't owe a dime. The attorney I called this morning is a friend/ family attorney. He is just good council on the personal injury side of things, she is hurting pretty bad. As for the rental, 2007 Mazda 5. Funny little car, like a tiny mini-van with a 4 cyl, 150 some hp and a triptonic trans. I nailed it yesterday, it slams about 7,600 RPMs and will smack the rev limiter till you shift it. Ha ha, I am not very nice to rentals.
