    fond farewell

Prices on fuel fell like a rock the week after we got the Buick, now 2.16 per gal. Pics on my old(05)SS are at the local stealers website.www.samswope.com There is appx 6-7 pics of my old truck. They are only asking 26,xxx for it!!!
  2. It'll be the updated one-if they hold true like they did with the Escalades. The oldest one I've replaced was 3 yrs ago and it still comes in for service, has appx 86k on it now-WAAAAAY out of warranty!! Good luck with yours, keep the fluid checked and serviced every 20-30k if you do "spirited"driving. The diff fluid change is a driveway job and the fluid is available at your local retailers.Front diff-1)15mm drain plug and a catchpan, open the fill plug too and it drains better, especially warm. Save yourself appx 75-100 bucks over the stealers service price...... I know I work for a stealer, but I fix my own S&&t even under warranty....
  3. 1st design 2003 frt diffs in SSS and Escalades are GARBAGE!!!!They are the same unit with different gears. No other year diff has the bearing issues EXCEPT those 2 Vehicles in 2003 mainly I have repaired/replaced so many of them under warranty where I work-Chevy/Caddy dealer as a tech The bearings,be it pinion or carrier hardly make it out of warranty. The first diff service at 30k usually reveals a bunch of metal on the drain plugOOPS ITS DEAD!!! GM has quit warranty replacement of the Escalade unit, repairs only,I havent seen a SSS needing one yet,all the ones that go there are 04-06.
  4. About 3 weeks ago the gas prices went to the highest I have seen.It cost 83.00 to fill up the SSS.Ouch!!! We decided that was the last straw. My wife has had several spinal surgeries and has limited mobility, and getting in and out of the truck was very difficult.Even with step-bars,it could not be done without her pulling her back and discomfort. It was time for a change. 1)we needed a vehicle that was easier for her to get in and out of with GOOD seating. 2)We needed something GM that I could use my GM emoloyee price on and not be a s%^&box 3)We needed something that was good on gas as we both travel long distances to our separate obligations through the week. We searched around our local stealers and found 2 Buicks to her liking,1 a Lucerne, the other a Lacrosse. She settled on the Lacrosse and we set up a deal. The best part is now.The Lacrosse was 32,000 before rebates and is FULLY LOADED incl.sunroof.my cost was 28,900+tax.They (after some haggling)and I walked out once, traded EVEN for the truck, including tax and 6/100 warranty. 30 mpg,the wife is comfortable and happy and I still got my Impala SS and my daily Silverado LS.
  5. Got a 2005 AWD SS for sale.Black,Chrome wheels,PCM4Less,Truxedo,billet grille,I am the original owner and bought the truck in Indy(Greenwood).I have maintained it at the dealership that I am a line tech at,Chevy/Cadillac. Want 33,000-paid 43,000.Np bank loan, paid it off 3mos after getting it. Got too many toys.
  6. Found the problem!!The factory carpet BEHIND the pedal assembly was cut wrong an worked its way into the mechanism. Trimmed 3/4"Ushaped pocket around the pivot area of the pedal and no more problem. It wouldnt do it with me again,I'm 6ft and long legged and my wife is 5'1" she pushes the bottom of the pedal and I push more toward the top....the angle of the pedal made all the difference!
  7. I've got a 2005 SS that has a sticking throttle.Sunday I started it in the local Wally World parking lot and had my foot no where the gas pedal and it started and revved at 4000+ for a couple of seconds and i hit the pedal a couple of times while it did that trying to get it unstuck. No luck! Had to shut off the key and let it sit for a minute.Checked that there were no floor mats, etc against,or binding the pedal.None there, didn't feel like it was binding. Drove home with no other incident, parked the truck. Fast forward 2 days .Its now Tuesday and I'm at work.My wife calls me and is hysterical! The truck got stuck at about 3/4 throttle while she was trying to pass a semi! I get her calmed down and tell her to take it REAL EASY and get the truck home and park it. I work at the local Chevy/Caddy dealer as a tech so I check for TSB's.Nope, none there for the electronic throttle model(no cable)like my SS.Called TAC and they haven't got any others with that kind of warranty issue. Called Bryan H to see if it could be a glitch in his PCM.Nope,he reminds me that I need to take and put my STOCK PCM back in before I try relearning the paedal or the Throttle body. OK,go to the parts counter and get my bud there to make sure we have a pedal assy and throttle body there in the AM.No problem.Next get the service writer to write up a work order,Nice,I get paid to work on my own sh!t. Will keep you updated on the condition. OOPS! has anyone else had thier throttle hang up???? Yes mine is clean and clear of all deposits- don't ask.
