  7. I have a few questions I guess I going to squeeze in here. I know a while back I read posts on how to change the bulbs on the steering wheel, but I can not seem to find it. Idid a search for it a few times but not luck. I mainly want to find out the kind of bulb and how to do it. I think someone got some cheap bulbs from radio shack, I just don't know what kind. Also what kind of bulbs are in the dash cluster. I have two of them out and what to have them on hand before I ripe the dash a part to put them in. Has anyone put LEDs in there dash cluster??If so what kind. Thanks in advance for the info and input. Bryan 05sss
  8. don't know where you are located there is one for sale in northern NJ. I think it is bone stock. I don't know how much they are asking Bryan
  9. well finally got around to doing the brakes. The shop cut them for me but he was worried that there was not a lot of meat left on them he cut them for me no problem just very rusty.. I did not get to finish putting everything back together had to play husband and dad so no play time. Next time I have to do brakes the baers are going to scrap, there will be nothing to cut. Guess I going back to the stock rotors Bummer!!!! Bryan
  10. thanks guys, that is what i thought just have to find someone that "knows" what they are doing. Thanks Bryan
  11. well I put a set of baer eradisped rotors on the sss a few years ago and got my miles on them. NOw it is time for a brake job, I want to know if anyone has cut a set of baer rotors. can I cut them? or should I not, . i really don't have the money right now to buy new rotors, even thought I want to, I want to try to keep this as cheap as possible without putting the stock rotors back on. thanks Bryan 05sss
  12. hey whats up? you caught me! It was me. I saw you pass me when I was getting on in Teaneck at queen Anne road and saw you were waiting for me. Bryan
  13. got the cooper H/T plus. they are great all year round. Even in the snow.
  14. once i figure out the problem I will. I do agree with you about the resistance. How ever I have had the trailer for about 3 years now and this problem just started happening. Don't think it is too many bulbs. I used a 97 tahoe today that I wired up for lights and the electric brakes and all seemed fine. I am now leaning towards the SSS being the issue. Where I don't know and of course i am off warranty. I am going to be putting new tires on it in the new week or two so when I get it up on the lift I will check the harness out and the connectors and go from there...i am also thinking it could be a relay. bryan 05sss 78malibu
  15. hopefully someone can help me out here or has had this similar problem. I do a fair amount of towing. I have two trailers, one for his and her snowmobiles and one for everything else. Here is my problem. I have a pace trailer and when I have been towing with the SSS the last few times, i keep blowing the 15amp fuse for the trailer parking lights in the fuse block under the hood. It has happen 3 times now. It does not blow right away it takes about 40 or so minutes before it blows. I have checked the truck up and down and also the trailer. I was leaning towards the trailer having a short in in somewhere but I hooked up a 97 tahoe to the trailer this weekend and all seemed to be fine with the trailer. Now im stumped. I want to pull the snowmobile trailer out and try it on the SSS just have not gotten there yet. Has anyone else had this problem? i don't lose brake lights or turn signals just the running lights. And of course the parking lights have to be on for it to happen. I also do not lose the parking lights on the SSS just on the trailer. If someone could help shed some light (no pun intended) on this for me that would be great. Thanks Bryan 05SSS 78 malibu 06 trailblazer (the wifes)
  16. This is to all the guys who have installed the baer brakes and who also put snow tires on in the winter. Was wondering what everyone has done. I realized a while back that my 16" spare may not work with 14" rotors. I tried a set of 17"rims and they just about fit. Is anyone running 18" rims and tires. Or has everyone just changed the rubber on their 20's and let if at that. I head north to snowmobile a lot in the winter, due to a stupid move on my part I lost my beater truck to my parents (97 tahoe, was great for me the wife, the 2 dogs, gear, trailer) SO I am looking for the best option for tire and rims for the snow. thanks Bryan 05 sss 78 malibu
  17. well I got the SSS back on Thursday after the dealer having the truck for just over a week. I guess I took the dealer for granted...I felt the tranny shift kit was gone (kind of figured that was going to happen) i drove home it was about a 20 min ride and I knew something was not right. Got home and opened the hood and sure enough the antifreeze was the same color (pink milky fluid) it was when I brought it in. The tranny fluid was fine, but I guess they did not flush the motor out. The engine compartment was also covered in oil from them working on it, they did not clean their hand prints or work area up at all. SO I took the SSS right back to the dealer and demanded they flush the whole motor, change all the hoses and clean the engine bay before I get it back. It is now going on Tuesday and I have not heard a word from them. I have to say I am very disappointed with their service and they are going to hear about it. Also I am very upset they the SSS has been tainted like this, I don't think it is going to be the same again. I am considering trading it in so down the road I don't have large problems with it. My wife does not want me to trade it in. I have some think to do. Thanks to all that read this and listened to me vent. Bryan 05 SSS 78 malibu
  18. thanks guys that is what I figured with the trans, that it was toasted. I just dropped it off at the dealer and I have to wait and see what they say. I did see the fluids mixed in the overflow tank as well when I pulled the tranny dipstick. THe engine oil was fine, still clean I might add... I hope they give me a new trans, it sucks because I installed one of zippys shift kits in it, guess I will have to do it again. For any of you who have had trannys done by the dealer are they willing to put something else in besides their own trans? Meaning if I get one built myself would they put it in? Or am I better off just having them put their GM trans in and I do my shift kit again and call it a day? Bryan
  19. well here is one that i have not seen before. I am going to make a long story very short for the people with ADD. I have a cat back, cold air intake, a zippy shift kit, and a pcm upgrade. NOthing major done at all. I treat the truck very good. today some how the anti freeze and tranny fluid mixed together....it looks like it all happened in the radiator. Has anyone had this happen to them on their SSS? I am going to get it towed up there on wednesday. I hope they rebuild the trans and give me a new radiator and fluid my whole motor. It made this nice milkly pink fluid it looks like a strawberry milk shake. Thanks to all who read this and listened to me complain. Thank you Bryan 05sss 78 malibu
  20. its a little of both a whine and moan. It sounds like the wheel is locked. I am going to call again today and take the truck back up there. I usually do all of my own work, but since this is warranty I let them do it. I am getting to the point with them that I will sucks up the $ and just do it myself, at least I know It will be fixed right and done right the first time. thanks for the input let you know how I make out. Bryan
  21. well guys I took my sss to the dealer about 3 or 4 months ago for the clunk, and they replace the shaft. Now about 4 weeks ago my Power steering started to make noise like it was straining to turn, even on normal turning. Got to be so bad that my girlfriend even said something to me about it. The only way I can describe the noise is that it is like turn the wheel from lock to lock and holding it there and that is the noise I hear just driving around town. SO I took it in to the dealer today and they changed the steering gear box...go figure. Long story short, I drove home and the noise is still there and to top it off, the clunk is back in the column... Has anyone else had this problem with the clunk coming back? Has anyone else had the noise in the power steering? Just looking for some info from others, if it is even worth taking back to GM. I hate going there. Was there for 4 hours today and no one had answers for me until I started to get a little angry. thanks Bryan
  22. I will try to show up there not sure if i am working yet or not bryan
  23. just happened to talk with a tranny guy today. Suggested I drop some lubgard in to see if that fixes the shutter that I am describing. If not, he said he will drop the pan and take a look at what is going on. It is weird I have tried everything lately to try to get the shutter, but it only seems to do this when I am backing up a hill??? Looks like I will be heading over to the tranny guy sometime soon to get this looked at. Bryan
  24. Yeah I believe I did everything correctly? This is only the third time i have done a shift kit in a tranny so I could have messed something up. Does anyone have any directions, write up or pictures for a shift kit install asside from what comes with the kit? Also, it is strange that the shutter is not always there. Only seems to happen (when is does happen) when the tranny is warm...go figure. thanks Bryan
  25. ok well I took a quick ride this morning in the SSS and I came home (down my street) in reverse. Had no problems what so ever. Even up the driveway in reverse it was fine. Took the girlfriend home this evening, went to go into the driveway, I felt a little shutter backing up, but it was not as bad as it was yesterday. anyway. I am still going to try and take the servo back out and lube it up some more. O r I will just try to blow the tranny up and try to make GM pay for a new one Bryan
