  1. Sounds like it's time to get mine to the alignment shop too...mine does the EXACT same thing when I hit an uneven surface. I know the driver side shock is blown as it leaked all it's oil out the other day. I didn't notice any play in my hubs but my front tires are wearing the inside down like they are toed out at the bottom. She drives great 99% of the time but sometimes I hit an uneven patch or a bump and she wants to walk left/right/left for a second and it's annoying.

that sounds exactly like what I am experiencing except I don't have a blown shock

  2. no play left/right/up/down/in/out but it sure as hell is acting like a bad hub, except that it isn't consistently happening.

Seems like ony certain situations (both low-speed and high-speed) like backing out of my drive and going ove the curb or going over speed bumps or in the snow or hitting bumps in the road. I haven't noticed it when turning or going around curves (like i did when the hub went out and the truck would somewhat dog track)

  3. I replaced 1 front hub a year or two ago because the truck would noticeably pull and then correct or over correct the opposite direction. That one was obvious. I jacked the truck up and there was all sorts of play on the passenger hub. I replaced it and all was well.

Well, the truck has started doing the same thing (but not as aggressively). I've jacked it up several times and checked, but both hubs seem nice and tight.

Could just a needle or 2 in the bearing be bad and that is why I can't tell the hub is bad or is there something else I should be looking at? I appreciate any help or guidance

  4. I'm driving down the road....the stereo and lights go off and back on real quick (almost like a power surge or brown out) and now my f'ing HU will not eject the CD that is in it. Nor will it play it.

It's a PITA for me to go to the dealership so I thought I'd see if there was any kind of easy fix. WTF happened?

  5. you can get about a 14% increased gas mileage if you can find a tuner to enable lean cruise for you. I have done so and i get pretty decent gas mileage.

city/highway driving back and forth to work I get about 16mpg.

if I set the cruise at 60mph I get about 22mpg, 70mph 17mpg, 80mph 14mpg.  this is not veryified by the DIC, but by filling up.

I agree, if you are getting ~10mph, you probably need some routine maintenance.

What cruise AFR? 15.5? 16? Are you running a custom OS to be able to do this as the PCM won't allow it on US Operating systems...

Jon is running a stock PCM in his truck. As far as tuning I believe he had a local guy on our camaro board use HPT to enable the lean cruise.

I'd be very interested in knowing if the Commanded AFR PID actually shows a lean AFR, as there have been a number of topics surrounding this, and the consensus (from the developers of the software, both HPT and EFI Live) is that Lean Cruise is not possible on US PCMs due to some federal regulation surrounding it... The GTO being the only US vehicle that it can be enabled on...

From what I gathered from the guys I know...it's not necessary legal, but can be done. I dunno. I am in no way shap or form a tuning person. :dunno:

  7. Worst I ever saw was an old lady at a bank. She was in the drive through and was leaving. I was in my work truck right across from where she was pulling out. Same deal...mixed up the brake and the gas. She flew right out and slammed into a car then ended up high centered on the median. Her driver door was about 2 feet from my truck. I just sat there and stared like WTF just happened.

  8. They're fun cars, but personally I'd rather have a 2003-2004 Cobra and get better HP/TQ for a LOT less money. Cobra R's would turn better times on a road course, and retain value as a collector, but that's about it...

yeah and the spoiler IMO is gay as hell. I used to have see one everyday when I lived in an apartment complex. For all I know it was a clone (I didn't pay that much attention to it) it was yellow and I could never get over the spoiler.

Then again I'm a chevy guy born and raised :chevy: (literally)

All in all though if I HAD to buy a late model mustang it would be a blue 03 Cobra or possible a SC'd Rousche.

  9. Thank you guys for the intelligent responses. I appreciate it.

I drag race the camaro so the money goes in it. (way too much if you ask my wife) then again 3 engines and 4 tranny's later plus all the "little" stuff...yeah it's too much

I knew the 22's were not perfomance adding and they wouldn't help MPG, but if any of you remember correctly I bent one wheel early this year in the snow and after seeing the cost of a factory rim I made $1,000.00 by buying 22's with my dealer account at tirerack and then selling the stock chrome 20's to a fellow board member.

Again, thank you for the help.

Ben- did what were the gains on that 212/218 cam and out of curiosity did you have any issues with dealer giving you crap about warranty work.

Mine's an 05, but bought on New Year's Eve day so it is only 7 months old and 7,000 miles (which is why I want to be mindful of the warranty for now).

And Mr. P - Futral does good work  ;)

  10. I guess I should rephrase this a bit. Kinda makes me sound like a virgin to car's.

Here's what I've been kicking around...

Intake - Volant seems to be top choice

Exhaust - prolly cat-back dunno about springing for headers

    PCM reprogramming

depending on financials stock ported heads and "baby" cam <- is this worth the bang for the buck?

    looking for...

    effect on MPG

    effect on performance

    effect on warranty (any?)

any supporting mods needed for these? Injectors necessary or can the DC just be up'd via PCM reprogram and still be in the semi-safe zone.

    THOUGHTS???

  11. My big money has been going into my camaro (and will continue to do so).

I want to make a few mods to the truck.

Looks wise I'm set, 22's, tinted windows, waiting for grills and belltech drop kit.

Performance wise though what are the best mods? Also, keep in mind my SSS is my DD so I don't want to kill MPG. In fact I would love to increase it. It is also under warranty and I am not wanting to VOID that.

Is it the standard intake/exhaust first? Are they even worth much?

I thought about a small cam and ported stock heads, but...wondering if the cost is worth it and if I can keep the lope down to where if it were to go to the dealer, they wouldn't notice.

I've thought about buying a beater, but I don't think I can support 2 projects/toys plus it's new enough I just want to enjoy having a nice DD for a while that is fairly maintenance free.

Just looking for some very basic help/advice.

    thanks guys

    :chevy:
