Sounds like you have done your research. you are right in the respect of the steering wheel controls. also if you go with the Polk speakers, which I love by the way, teh 6.5 oversize are the ones you want, the make 2 different 6.5's make sure to get the oversize. You will be completely happy with Polk speakers. let us know what you decide. as for the door lock interface, that is for alarms and starters. and you will need the other 2 parts that youmentioned to put in the radio, on the chime module I highly recomend putting piece of tape over the hole for the speaker on it, its really loud.! good luck <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks!

So, just to update this.... I am installing the CDA 9857 instead and the SWI-ALP will work with that deck. Then I was looking on the PAC website and I found a "Door Lock Interface". The model number is DLI-GMJ.... Does anyone know what this does? They do recomend it for our trucks.... Here's the link to the page I was looking at...PAC Silverado Accessories Also, I do need to install C2R-GM2 to keep the factory chimes, right? (I don't have On Star or XM) Either that or I have to relocate the stock deck?

So, I take my truck in yesterday to have the oil changed. Well, when I get there the guy starts asking me if I've ever thought about using synthetic oil. I told him I have thought about it and he starts to give me this sales pitch about synthetic oil. So, I decide I'm going to go ahead and do it. Well, I asked him if he could discount the oil change since it's the first time I've ever used synthetic oil. He tells me he can take $5 off.... then he tells me for this $70 oil change he can do it for $40 bucks if I don't need a receipt, but not to tell his manager. So, I told him that's cool but I have to go to the ATM and get some cash because all I had was my card. Well, he puts the synthetic in and then his manger comes over and starts to finish the transaction and charges me $40 on my card. The guy gives me this look like "Hey, don't say anything". So, I pay the manager and I leave the garage.... well, the guy is smoking a cigarette outside when I leave so I pull into the parking lot and try to get his attention and I was going to talk to him and try to give him money, but I couldn't without being too obvious to his manager.... So, I felt kind of bad for leaving the guy hanging, but I didn't want to get him trouble..... What do you guys think? Should I have gone back and tried to give him money or at least talked to him? And more importantly... do you guys run synthetic oil in your trucks or no? Sorry for the long story.... I'm a little drunk! -Jonathan

Hey, check it out Dual 10" sub box. I got mine already, I just thought I'd share. I thought it was a pretty good deal on a sub box.

Yeah, that is the hitch you need.. that's the one I used on mine. Works great! As far as lights go, the body shop I took mine too installed a light on the roll pan so that it shines on the license plate. With those lighted frames I don't know how you would run the wires so they wouldn't be in the way when you flip down your license plate, same with the lighted bolts.

So I got an e-mail back form PAC, when I asked them if the SWI-ALP would work with the CDA-9856 and they said it will NOT work. So if you guys are planning on installing an aftermarket deck and you're going to use one of these steering wheel interfaces, make sure you call them and check if they're compatable.... They recomended the SWI-X (I think that's the model number) which is the universal interface for me.

It possibly could be all of the brakes that are failing, because you can't stop. It's like the brakes are gone. It's a 1/2 ton truck. How could we find out if the ABS is grounding out or breaking connection? What is a hydraboost system? And how do I find out if this truck has it?

No, you pump the pedal and it's still soft. It doesn't come back until you straighten the wheel out.

Hey Alex, Nice setup!! What steering wheel interface did you use? And what is a "Chime interface"? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I used the exact same one you are talking about in your thread, BTW I replied to it. The chime interface allows you to keep all the factory chimes when removing the stock HU like when the door is open, fuel gets low, blah, blah, blah....... I have noticed that my chimes when I set the seat do not work, oh well. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What's the chime interface part number? Who makes it? I think I'll have to hook that up too! Thanks for the help...
