2006 Marin Drakes Beach Cruiser, aluminum frame, F/A drop in stem, Ape Hanger High rise bars, Kenda Flame tires.

Im not a big fan of beach cruisers, but that bike is pretty sick... way better than that girly looking thing that rders4alf posted

  2. LS3 shouldnt cost much more crate wise compared to the LS2...its is only in the realm of 38 more HP than the LS2...

Its actually not even that much ... its only really 30HP, but if you get the new optional exhaust on the '08 C6 is an additional 6HP... and they want something like $1300 extra for it for 2-3HP to the wheels

  3. id like to know why they are junk , i havent read of hardly any failures yet.

just ordered my PI 10.5 triple disc 3000 stall converter. rated to 1600 hp so i think this one will last.

Chase- that is one badass converter.. and they arent cheap. But you are basically putting a 1600hp capable converter in a tranny that is probably only good for 30-40 1320 passes at around 500-600HP MAX. If you get more than that, or are running more HP, then you are just straight lucky.

I personally wouldnt be buying an expensive converter just to throw in a 60E.. if and when that 60E blows again with all that power, it will probably take your converter with it... even if it doesnt, who knows if metal pieces will be in it when the tranny blows up unless you cut it open, and who wants to re-use a converter if it has been in a tranny that blew up.. i wouldnt.. it could possibly kill the new one.

To each his own, but I think you are wasting your money in the long run bro.. if i was in your position I would park the Truck, drive the Camaro since its a reliable DD, and save up until I could get the coin to do it right and go for the 80E swap IMO.

  4. Whats funny is all the people who still think Toyotas are the best trucks out there, that they will run 'forever' ... what a joke. Their V8s are brand new and full of problems.. how long have they been producing a V8 powered truck? Only a few years compared to Dodge/Chevy/Ford.. they need to just go back to only making 4 bangers and some v6's...

  5. If you got the zaino kit it should include instructions. I did my truck last year and it pretty much lasted a year. The finish was great and all the truck required to be clean was a run through a touchless car wash most times. I did have to wash it by hand a few times. I cleaned the truck with dish detergent first to remove other waxes and stuff. Then clay barred it. Next I did 2 coats of zaino. I think I used Z5 with ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator Additive. Then used Z-6 Ultra Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray then do it again(Z5,Z6). Might have been Z2 instead of Z5 but I can't remember. It's been a year. :banghead:

EDIT: I think I washed it with the zaino car wash before/after the clay bar :dunno:

I have always avoided car washes, because their soap contains high amounts of detergent to quickly get off road grime and grease. The side effect? It takes off your wax in the process... That includes 'hand wash' places and touchless car wash machines.

  6. GM has filed a civil complaint against the souce of the leak..Supposedly the source of the leak worked at a shipping company called EMO TRANS according to Autoblog.com and he was subsequently fired for leaking the photos. I hope he got a good deal for leaking these photos, then again something tells me he may

So the guy had a fetish for cutting himself, wearing tight girl pants, and having his hair flip out in front of his face? Damn EMO bastards

  7. wow you have discipline.... drive something that you know has way more torque than it should, and keep it out of WOT for 2k miles. when i build a new motor im DYING before i even get to 200 miles lol. to you my friend :jester:

I guess my question is 'why' didnt he drive it WOT for 2k miles?? lol ... the motor was already broken in, tranny showed no signs of failure,:confused: I would have at least went WOT to see how hard it pulls.. maybe not launched it just yet, but at least did a quick pull in 3rd on the freeway since it wouldnt require hard shifting...

Why did you never go WOT chase?? Afraid the tranny would implode?

  8. There might be a chance that your having brake problems from just having 24's.. not necessarily the weight.. a lot of guys with lifted trucks have brake issues also. Did you ever program the computer for the right size wheels/tire? Maybe its throwing the ABS off because somethings not right with the ECU.. I had a huge lifted Silverado, and an Avalanche in the past and once in my Avalanche before I programmed it, the brakes would NOT work and stop me.. i almost shat my pants... then i used a Hypertech programmer and it fixed the problem.

I dont think you NEED new brakes... but they look bad ass. Look at all the lifted guys running 37-44" tires with stock brakes and if the computer is programmed right you will be fine (still slower braking though)

  9. Chase-

You need to change your plate to 'BLWNTRNY' now... jk man

I still recall all the posts I was making about your tranny and your plans when you were going to the new motor. I was wondering about the 80e conversion, but you said you would just rebuild it. After all the $$ you spent i think its about that time to finish the project and just go for the 80e or its going to be sitting at the Toy Shop for a long time!

I thought I read something you said that you havent gone WOT yet? The vid I saw in the tunnel sounded like you were on the gas but you said it was only 2nd gear at like 2300 rpms  It sounded pretty mean.. did the tranny break with you not even doing any hard runs?

  10. Dude whens the last time you changed your oil? Get some fresh Mobil 1 5-30 in there and I bet it goes away..

Knock is when your accelerating (sometimes part, mostly WOT) and it makes a sound like marbles bouncing around in a Foldgers coffee can.

Oh yah and get the boost gauge installed.. i want to see what PSI your running, the gauge only showed 6 PSI for me when it should have been 7 with that 3.0 pully. Lemme know!

  11. usabodyguard- I am glad I dont do your job... i know I would end up in jail for busting a rear naked choke or a thai kick to the knee on one of those paparazzi guys.. you probably have control of your temper so my hats off to you!

And dude, you put a lot of heart into waxing your truck. I havent seen many pics of it, but from your sig it looks damn nice. I agree with the other guy i think you over did it. When I use DER I usually spend about 4-5 hours detailing the truck. I do the following with DER:

    1) Wash truck with Dawn, Dry with Absorbers

    2) Claybar entire truck use water and/or McGuires Quik Detailer as lubricant

    3) Wash truck, Dry with Absorbers

    4) Polish with DER Real Stuff using microfiber applicator pads

    5) Depending on amount of visible 'spider' scratches I may polish with Real Stuff again

    6) Apply DER Shiney Stuff with new microfiber applicators

    7) Go over entire truck with McGuires Quik Detailer and polish off with microfibers

I then re-apply Shiney Stuff every 2-3 washes, and every 4 months I redo the entire process. The wax lasts a long time... and the truck always shines and I always get compliments on the paint.

Now that I have a black car now too, I cant wait to see how it works on black paint. On red its amazing... on my wifes silver 350z it looks good, but not that drastic of a difference as on a red truck.

I hate carnuba based waxes, I think they are a waste of time as they break down in the sun and heat very quickly.

  12. Damn those are some nice pics... Zaino obviously is the 'Ferrari' of car waxes... I am starting to think DER is the 'Z06' of waxes now.

I ended up going down to Fletcher Jones Mercedes in newport beach.. they have an assload of DER products on the shelf, picked up a couple more bottles. I will still be contemplating the switch next time though.. DER is just way to easy to apply and its priced nice too..

We will see ! Thanks for the replies. I still would like to hear from someone who has maybe used either product a lot, then switchedand actually noticed any real differences.

  13. Okay, I always see the DER people and the Zaino people here... I dont ever see someone who has used one product, and switched to the other.

Are there any people who have used either Zaino or DER, then switched to the other brand and noticed a difference?

The reason I ask, is I always haved used DER products. They require less coatings, its slightly cheaper, and the result is amazing. However, if Zaino does look MUCH better then I wouldnt mind spending more time and money to get a better result.

I want to hear from people who have used DER, then tried Zaino, or vice versa. Its time for me to buy more product, so before I drop more $$ on DER I want to know if I should just go for Zaino this time.

Pics would be nice too, if available.

  14. It comes out to around $1200ish for the housings, the actual HID kit i'm looking at (ballasts, bulbs, wiring, relays, etc.) is only like, $300ish, and that's for a 50 watt kit...

You know what, I guess I didnt read your post the right way, for some reason I was thinking it was $875 for EACH headlight.. lol. That price is something I would expect then.

Still a lot of money for headlights though, but then again... how many people would have them? That would be pretty killer to see true retrofitted HIDs on a Silverado!

  15. I dont think the current Z06 will have much on the new Viper.. but the Z07 will probably tear the viper a new one in the performance department.

But the Viper will still look more exotic and flashier.. soo it would be a hard choice for all those rich guys out there !

  16. hahahahaha, i thought the same exact thing when i first saw that commercial. there's one up here in anchorage that has glasspacks on it. and i thought twice about racing it when we happened to be lined up.

Glasspacks on a Toyota? Isnt that like a 450lb obese woman with breast implants and botox?

    :jester:

  17. DAMN $2K for HID projectors? Thats a lot ! Imagine if your front end got smashed up... insurance probably wouldnt even cover that unless you had additional coverage.

I like HIDs... but for that kind of money I would just get the HID kit from bgdsub for $100 or so and call it a day !!
