  1. Heres the pic of the intake.

I had the same kit on my old 05' VHO. The ram air tube does make a difference. It helps get more cooler air to the filter.

Of course the design is not of a true "Ram Air" design due to the inside of the Volant air box having the fender cut out wide open.

This will not allow the box to pressurize and creat that "ram air" effect.

The positive thing about not having a true "ram air" design is the ability to get cooler air to the filter, and keep out water and hard debris from penetrating your air filter.

It is stated it is for highway only use due to the fact it "could" shove water into your Volant air box and get past the air filter. But pure neglect would be the cause of this happening. Like driving through high water or driving into a lake, pond, bay, or ocean!

If you still worry about water getting to your filter, then buy a water resistant filter sock to be on the safe side.

I ran my truck through heavy rains many times and the filter was always still dry after checking it when I would get home.

Anyways, congrats and good luck with future mods!

  2. Looks like I'll be going with a Wheatley tune as soon as I get a chance.

Not sure if it would be worth it until I get exhaust and intake, but then again, those bolt-on do not generally make much of a difference in power output.

  3. yeah you need to get your facts straight!!

yeah its a heavy car BUT the car is sick... starting from the outside its untouchable as far as looks go its got that retro look to it like the camaro. i dont know what your talking about when you say its too big inside, the last thing i want to be is cramped inside a car ,you must be a small person. as far as pick up the thing rolls out and in a hurry. the car cant keep the tires on the ground and is faster then my supercharged truck stock, you add a lil spray or a blower to the thing you have a high 11's low 12's car just like that.

hands down the car is sweet and thats comming from a chevy guy my brother owns a srt8 challenger and has let me driven it plenty of times .the car sounds mean, has some of the best braking power i have ever felt in a car "4 piston brimbos", the power is more then enough "425hp" "redlines at 6400rpms", the price tag is a lil more then the ss camaro "about 8k more" lil more than what i would like to spend but it keeps all the teenie boppers from driving them but if you got the money it doesnt matter you just need to stay within your price range but its a sweet car. the camaros are very nice looking also from the out side ,i havent drivin one yet but i saw a yellow ss at the track and it ran a 14.1 i dont know what was up with that ill give the car the benifit and blame it on the driver :fingersx: .

Facts straight?? Hmmm... they are pretty straight...in my opinion.

I drove my brother in laws black on black 6.1 HEMI Challenger. Yes it is fast, but not nearly as fast as I thought it would be. The weight is a major factor.

Also, I'm not small, I'm just perfect! IMO. 210lbs. The seats are too big, not the inside overall room. The seats look like large leather reclining chairs that belong in your house or for your office chair. They are very bulky looking and are not comfortable. They are very stiff, way too firm. No plushness or sport like feeling to them. Just too hard. If I had hemorrhoids...lol....I'd probably have to sell the car if I had to sit in them every day.

Yes, the car looks sick...from the outside, but the interior is very lacking. Even the Car and Driver magazine had some of the same comments as I felt about the car.

Facts are pretty on que my friend. Of course, since the world is opinionated, someone else could always dissagree.....

  4. I have seen the new Camaro in person. It looks really good to me. The only thing is guys the manufactors keep building vehicles heavier and heavier. The Challenger weighs over 4000 pounds. That's just too heavy for 400 horsepower in a car to be a heavy hitter on the street without doing some serious power. JMO

Unfortunately the Silverado SS is dead and will stay that way....unless GM really pulls drastically through their economic down fall.

You can always build your own....if you really think about it, we pretty much change out everything on them anyways. Though you still have the fan club that will only do the basic bolt ons. It really is just unfortunate for us all.

Now, on the Camaro thing, these are probably kids stating their opinions. The Challenger is nice, but it is not put together all that well.

Have any of you read the Car and Driver reviews?? Even within the Challenger review it was dogged by the statement of the Camaro being a much better build and styled car than the Challenger.

I'm sorry, but unless any of you guys have driven or driven in a Challenger, then you have no idea what everyone is talking about.

The outside of the car looks great, but only shows old school appearance. Unfortunately that look doesn't appeal to everyone.

Then get in, the seats are huge, and uncomfortable (at least the SRT8 Version's are). Take a look around at the interior parts. It only reminds you of the Chrysler 300 and the Charger. No unique styling inside what-so-ever. Not for a $40K+ fricken price tag!

Then there is the heft. The car is heavy. The engine has to work to push this car. It has some torque, but not what would have been expected.

The In The Seat of The Pants meter was reading a 6 in my opinion.

If Dodge would shed some weight on this beast and revamp the interior to of a more personal "Challenger" only styling, then you would have a great car worthy of the $40K+ price tag!

Hell, just lower the price of the SRT8 version to around $34K and call it a day!

GET THE FACTS BEFORE YOU POST GUYS!

  5. That's really the whole debate with this truck though. More people would like to see this truck in a single cab, then there are others that wouldn't buy the truck unless it offered more room for more than just one passenger.

To me, the ext and crew cab trucks are not the problem. It will come down to will we (GM) build this truck in a single cab? I really do not know why this is a problem, but there is an obvious reason. Hell, they still won't offer the 6.0L in a single cab configuration.

So what makes you guys think they will offer it with even a bigger engine option???

I'm with a lot of you guys on them producing this hot sport truck, but the final say so is in GM's hands....

  6. I have one choice for you...You want the hidden SS?

    G

    M

    C

    Denali...

6.2L quad cab awd 6spd auto with 400hp to start. As quick or quicker than a VHO/SS...stack a MP122 on it for well over 500hp and call it a done deal...tuxedo black...I went and test drove one today...I keep talking about it and I think I just might do it...

I wouldn't mind one, but it really doesn't fit the bill for me. I really could care less for the added mass. I would like to buy a single cab SS. If they make one. Place that 6.2L in that....then we have some real potential.

The cheapest I found a GMC Denalli loaded, was $45,000 + TTL. That will put me out of being able to have money left over for mods. I would like to keep the cost down to around $35,000 tops for my next truck.

If GM fails to launch the next SS Silverado as a single cab, then I go to plan B. Make my own single cab SS. I haven't done any number figures yet, so I don't know if buying a new bodied single cab auto with a 4.8L will allow me to build a personalized 7.0L SS.

I will have to do some research to see if this is worth the time and money.

Untill the new SS arrives, I can only hope.

  7. Registered to see if there was any news for the 427 Silverado.

I drive a 2004 Ford Lightning, and I'm getting quite bored with it.

I honestly doubt you will see GM produce to sell that particular truck. I really hate to say it too. I would love to purchase that thing if they did though.

I'm thinking we will see a 6.2L SS Silverado. If they do, I would hope they would sell it supercharged with a 6L80E behind it. Would be really nice if they actually produced a pure performance truck that is SINGLE CAB! The extended cab version should be offered as well, but a least give the buyer the option.

Ford will be producing a 3rd Gen Lightning here soon. Probably in 2009. GM better have the balls to compete this time around.... I'm thinking both the new SSS and new Lightning will be put out for sale close to the same time. Until then, that will tell me what I will be buying next go around.

I'm leaning towards GM, but if Ford really breaks the ice this time around, I may have to switch back. The last Ford I owned was my favorite 93 GT black on black 5-speed. After I wrecked it, I didn't feel the same about the cars value anymore. That's when I sold it and gave GM a try. My first was a 2000 Silverado 5.3L Ext cab. It was mildly modded and gave me no issues from day one til I traded it. My previous 05' VHO, was a lemon from day one. I had way too many problems with it.

So now, I'm left not knowing what to buy this time. I'll wait to see.

Until then, good luck to all who are still in the mod war!

  8. are you positive it will fit a stock silverado SS?

do you have a part number? the ones im finding on the web mention a 2 inch drop. i want to make sure they are a proper fit for stock height.. stock truck suspension.

I want you to think about this for a second. When you lower the front of a SS, you use drop spindles. They don't really alter the suspension geometry much at all. It is actually placing the hub up higher. Therefore, the front suspension will not have less suspension travel, it will still be about the same.

Either way, the Belltech shocks were almost exactly the same length as the stock ones. The only shocks that were shorter that I had were the rear shocks.

I'll post the Belltech part # tomarrow.

    Jim

  9. Selling 2 front Belltech Nitro-Active shocks. They are almost new. They have 2500-3000mi on them.

They do not have any scratches or are they dirty by any means.

I sold the truck and parted out the aftermarket parts.

The front shocks are the last items left.

Selling the pair for $65.00 shipped (US ONLY).

Will accept Paypal or money order for them.

  10. I was hoping GM would have a new SS for the 2008 model year. I'm in the market to buy one this coming year and had the fingers crossed.

Anyone have any updated news on this?

I would think this would be the web-site that I would find this info out, but have yet found anything on the new SS here.

I will keep my fingers crossed.

    Jim

    build your own!

Build my own? It would be cheaper to buy one already made.

Add the price of a new RCSB Silverado V8 with leather, all the SS ground effects, painting, 6.2L 0r 7.0L engine, 6l80e tranny, wiring harnesses, wheels, suspension, and interior upgrades........Well, I think you get the picture. Way TOO much money spent!

I mean come on, you have to agree with me to a certain degree.

    Jim
