Thanks for the reply mctwist77. Yes, I think the actual installation is pretty straight-forward. It's the orientation of the shaft with this so-called "stabilizer clip" that I am questioning. It may not be important at all, but GM put it in there for a reason. Thanks again.

I have the dreaded steering clunk in my 05 Silverado HO with about 56,000 one-owner miles. Ordered a new shaft from GM Parts Direct. The new shaft has some sort of clip in the hollow end. This clip is not symmetrical. It's orientation is different if you rotate it 180 degrees. I have seen this referred to as a "stabilizer clip". It is part number 19329330.
To any GM techs out there, is there a correct orientation for this clip when installing this new shaft? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Distracted. I have been thinking about that. Read that it is kind of tough to remove the bearing. It's actually a plastic bushing isn't it? Was it difficult for you to remove yours? Did you install GM shaft and bearing? Did I your shaft have this "stabilizer clip" that I mentioned?
