  1. The install went fine, the instructions do leave a little to be desired, so I pretty much threw them out and did the install wing it style...there was honestly a noticeable difference driving around in power and sound...I watched a show the other day that says a HP gain with a Volant kit for our motor should be around 18-22.

  2. Got the kit installed along with the ram air tube with no problems except when I was making my first run after the install I turned on the A/C and noticed hot air coming out the passenger side vents, when I switched to vent only still hot air both dual zones are at 60 degrees, got cold air coming out the driver side but hot only on the passenger, anyone else had this problem?

  3. How are the kits different? The stock 4.8/5.3/6.0 all use the same airbox/MAF/Throttle body from the factory, which would mean everything should fit just fine.

I'm not sure, in those f'd up volant instructions it says if you own a SSS you need part #15153 that includes a grommet from volant for fitting from the tube to the throttle body, I called volant yesterday, they are sending me the grommet for free so when I get it I will compare it to the one that came off the stock intake and see whats different.

  4. Hopin someone can help, got a new Volant CAI off ebay for the SSS, problem, I received the part# 15053, not 15153 intended for the SS...can the stocker be used or is this special grommet absolutely necessary, and if it is, is there anywhere I can get just the grommet so I don't have to go thru a bunch of sh*t sending this thing back. Thanks for the help.

  5. Improved mpg means better efficiency, so for every drop of gas that is used, a larger percentage of that drop is converted into POWER which translates into motion and therefore distance.

I doubt anybody here would complain about more power.

Many things that improve mileage will also improve acceleration:

less weight - carbon fiber parts, lighter rims and tire combos.

    less friction - synthetic lubrication.

less aero drag - bed cover, lowered suspension.

less engine air flow restriction - exhaust, cold air intake

I would get a daily driver IMO

  6. Ok....dropped the SS off last nite....along with the copy of the TSB .... they just called to tell me that the TSB is not for our truck we have a different RPO ...they pulled the drain plug and it came out hairy as ever. So now they have to keep the truck and open the front diff to see what is what..... to be continued

Whats the latest on them cracking open your front diff??? I was given the same "its AWD noise" today at the dealer

  7. But in the 3 years I've had the truck I've never opened the rear windows so I figure that I'm not going to be missing anything but the wind noise.

    Mr. P. :)

Now that you said that you'll have to open them for some reason or another every other day :jester:

Kim, did you have that valve shroud painted blue???
