  1. I recently sold my 04 SS, and so I no longer have any use for the spare door I had purchased for it. At this point I'm just trying to get it out of my shed. Its in pretty good shape, aside from a few scratches that could use some bondo. With cladding still installed as well. Complete door minus the interior panel and mirror. If anybody is interested please hit me up. I'm looking to get around 300.

  2. I've got a spare drivers side door I'm looking to sell. Its in pretty good shape, aside from a few scratches that could use some bondo. With cladding still installed as well. Complete door minus the interior panel and mirror. I'm not sure how much these things are going for. But if anybody is interested please hit me up. I've got a picture of it, but cant seem to get it to upload. I will do that as soon as I can, or can possibly email them upon request.

  3. I would just take it to any local electronics repair place and ask. My old work used to be a gm radio service back when gm used to contract radio repairs out. Some radios had to be shipped out, some stuff was repaired in house.

I'm not sure if we're allowed to post ebay links, but i did a search and found a couple amps under $100. Any 03-07 bose pickup non-luxury amp should work.

I've run into blown amps a few times with nasty results. I'm an installer and a customer would come in and say 'my radio is acting funny'. So of course the salesmen are greedy (and dumb) and sell a customer a new deck, hand me a work order to install a new unit, and don't mention that the customers radio doesn't work properly. And of course the new deck doesn't work properly because their amp is bad, and I look like I don't know what I'm doing. Last time it happened, I asked the customer, 'didn't you tell the salesman that you had sound problems?' And of course he did... so guess who gets to rewire the truck? Lucky me.

    Sorry for the rant... :banghead:

p.s. I never listen to salesmen, I worked with way to many that didn't care about what you want, just interested in selling what is spiffed that day. :coold:

Thanx for the reply. I'm going to work on taking it out tomorrow so I can get a part number off it. Then look at ebay and the local salvage yards for another. I refuse to pay chevrolet for a new one. Poor truck seems to be falling apart. I think I'm getting a short in my left blinker now even. For only 6 years old I wouldn't think it would have this many issues. And of course the extended warranty is up. Go figure.

  4. The easiest option is to just get another factory one, since it's a five channel amp. If you go aftermarket your have to change all your speakers and you'll lose the sub. A repair shop should be able to fix it too, it doesn't hurt to get them to check it out.

Well today I lost the rear speakers as well. Looks like the amp must be the problem. You had said I may be able to get it repaired, any ideas as to where that would be. Like what kind of business. Or even a place I can get a cheaper version of factory. Chevrolet quoted me 650 bucks today, I could almost buy my in dash DVD player for that much. I may have to take that route instead of replacing the amp.

  5. I was looking around at some mods people have done on their trucks. Whats the opinion of everybody on the best type of dual exhaust? I've noticed it came stock with 2 converters, so is it a simple matter of putting on a double in double out muffler? I'm looking for the combination of look, sound, and of course performance. Thanx for all replies.

  6. The chances of all four speakers(mids and tweets) blowing all at once? Slim to none. Unless some speakers were gone and you didn't notice, sounds like an amp problem to me.

Easy to test... pop off an a-pillar an hook a test speaker to the tweeter(the tweeter wiring is common with the doors). No sound, then bad amp. The deck only sends out a 2 channel output to the amp, and the amp controls the fader through data from the deck, so more then likely a bad amp.

The amp outputs the chimes and onstar through the front speakers, no fronts... then no chimes.

    Good luck

    Paul

Thanx, I will take a look today. Can it be replaced with any amp, or will I have to get another factory one like it?

  7. I was driving in my 04 SSS today and noticed I was only getting sound out of the rear speakers. I tried adjusting the radio so only the fronts would be working and all sound went away. I've never touched the back of the radio so I can't see how any wires could have come loose. The guy at best buy said it could be the radio went bad or the factory amplifier. Has anybody else ever had this problem, or know where the amplifier might be located? Right now I have the factory Bose 6 disc in it.

  8. Mine is so bad on the drivers side door. It just started hitting again this morning. Now there is big chunks out of the edge and the paint around it is cracking. I wish Chevrolet could recall on things like this. We spent alot of money on these trucks and they should help us in keeping them looking great when it comes to their loose parts. Just my 2 cents on the matter. I'm off to see if I can find some kind of glue that will hold these things on better I guess.

  9. open circuit would indicate there is a break in the wiring or sensor . you would want to test voltage at the mirror and sensor.

I'll have to borrow a volt meter and give it a shot. Hopefully it will be an easy fix.

  10. i think if the sensor is unplugged it reads a default value :dunno:, but the pigtail should read very close to 5 volts across it open circuit

Ok so if I do that and check the voltage through the wiring today. Is open circuit bad or good? I'm not good with electrical stuff.

  11. have you done any work on the frotn end of the truck? maybe disconnected the sensor?

Yeah there was front end work done on it before. I can't remember if it come on right after that. I have since replaced the sensor thinking that was it and nothing happened. I'm wondering if there was a wire pulled out somewhere. I've tried to track the wiring, but its a little difficult to follow all the harnesses.

  12. Not long ago I saw a used black 2008 extended cab on "autotrader" it seemed to be at a pretty big Chevy dealership , It only had the SS badges and a buncha goofy looking 3M-chrome, They listed it as an "08 Silverado SS" It didn't even have the 6.0,,,I had to call them out on it, called the 1-800# and spoke to a salesman, Asked why they would list it as an SS when it clearly wasn't ? he said they considered it an SS because of the extra options installed by there Dealership, I told him it looked like all those "extras" came from Autozone & they might accually sell it if they strip it all back off

I too when through the same thing when shopping around for my SS. I went to a local dealership called Sunset. They had regular 1500's that were lowered with 20's, fake looking ss emblems, and a painted on ss bowtie on the grille. Mind you all of this on a stock 1500 4x4 with a smaller engine and cloth interior. All for the same price you could pick up a true SS. He even tried to argue with me that it was an actuall SS made from the dealership. Luckily for me I had done my research on what a true SS looks like and comes with so he wasn't able to fool me. Eventually he fessed up that they made the truck up themselves with all the upgrades and they could put the SS logos on it because it means Sunset Style. Needless to say they didn't get my business. Everybody has to watch out for alot of fakes out there. Dealerships will do anything to make a buck.

  13. OC means out of calibration, mirror is prob toast. not cheap either. the plug is on the back side of the mirror

I hope the mirror isn't toast. If so I guess I will be going without knowing the temperature.

  14. All it displays is OC?, have you tried the buttons on the bottom of the mirror?, also just a thought try to unplug the wires and let it "reset" and plug them back in....I had to do that on mine when I replaced my windshield last year....

Yeah that is all it says is OC for the temperature. The compass part still works fine. I've tried to find whatever fuse runs it but can't locate it. Where is the plug located at for the mirror? I will give that a try next.

  15. Has anybody else in here ever had their rearview mirror read OC instead of the outside (ambiant) temperature? I've replaced my sensors right behind the grille and still nothing. Chevrolet wants for me to pay them $100+ just to diagnose the problem. I'm hoping somebody knows so I don't have to pay them so much for a loose wire or something.

  16. Doesn't matter if the light is on for 4 hours or 24 hours, it means there is a problem that needs to be addressed. Have it scanned again when the light comes on and post up the codes.........

Ok I went and pulled the codes again. The machine said the code number is P0101. Mass or Volume air flow circuit Range/Performance. The guy said I can buy cleaner and possibly clean it instead of buying a new one. Whats the best thing to do? I'm not very literate with these computer run vehicles.
