  1. need to log in to read. can someone post the artical

    Very bad news everyone.

Mark had a fire at his house last night, his garage and many of his belongings are a total loss, his just finished Denali was in the garage and is also a total loss. He hasn't yet determined whether the basic engine and heads are salvageable or not. No question the truck is totaled, the interior and the complete engine bay are toast.

Marks new laptop was in the garage so he currently has no Internet access nor elect service in his house. He will fill us all in with more details when he can.

Please, at this time, no-one make plans for Dfest. I'm not sure yet, but I'm thinking we'll cancel this year

Mark my friend, I am so sorry. You are one of the best persons I know, you didn't deserve this!

    EDIT 6/16/08

Mark, I know how you are and I don't want any argument about this..I set up a fund for you to help with the rebuild of your life. I setup a paypal account for you [email protected]. It is completely in your name and I have just e-mailed you the passwords to access it.

Anyone that is able, please contribute to help our friend Mark get thru this catastrophe that he is enduring.

    Paypal [email protected].

    Thanks everybody!

  2. very few if any here are actually running a whipple due to the fact there isn't an intercooler. which is a crucial part to the high compression motors we have. your money to power ratio will not be worth it with out an intercooler.

Considering I got 100HP out of it and it's half the priceof a new Maggie I don't regret buying it however I will admit that the Maggie is the choice to go with if you have the funds - an intercooler is a good thing to have. I haven't had any problems running non intercooled even with 9-10 lbs of boost however I don't push it to the edge either.

  3. I was wondering if anyone was running a whipple twin screw non intercooled supercharger with there truck. I was thinking of buying this one for the 2003 ss silverado. Will it work?

The original Whipple box has "2000 Suburban" written on it and the instructions are for "1999 Vortec 4.8, 5.3, 6.0" The kit may fit other years make sure you know if it will fit your application before bidding.

It should fit if it's for the 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0L. I have one on my 5.3L 2000 Sierra. Very happy with it now - out of the box not so good. Their tuning has a lot to be desired - the actual blower unit is great though. I ended up dumping their electronics and 2 aux injectors for 8 larger marine delphi injectors and a custom tune. Before blower - around 260 - 270 RWHP. After blower 360 RWHP 412 ft lbs torque. The brackets on the your pictures look exactly like mine so I would say it should work but obviously you need to check to make sure.

  4. Avoid the Rhino lining, it won't last. I have a bedrug and absolutely love it, although it's looking a bit ragged now (been in the sun every day for 3+ years now) and I will be getting another. Of the spray-in liners I would recommend Super Liner or Line-X, very very good products and they can be applied in almost any color so if you wanted a color-matched liner they can do that now.

    Mr. P.

I tend to disagree on this comment. I had a Rhinoliner on my old truck that I owned for 10 years and the liner is still in great shape. My new truck (2000) also has a Rhinoliner in it and again, no problems and we're going on 8 years here. I can't comment about the fading issue since I only have a black liner but as far as it not lasting I don't think you can go wrong with a Rhinoliner and will recommend them anytime. As with any spray on liner, prep work is key and if it's not prepped right you could have problems.

  5. Be strong Drako. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and I'm sure your Mom will pull through. She has the will even if you think right now that she doesn't. Back in Sept of last year my Dad had a brain hemmoraghe and was about 99% close to death. At only 67 years old he really still had a lot of his life to live. We were with him every step of the way and believe me there were those days where it was 1 step forward 3 steps back and you feel guilty because you could have been better. It makes you look at life a lot differently and puts things into perspective. Our lives were literally put on hold as well. After a month in the ICU and fighting off a throat infection he started to pull through. He is still going through physical therapy but yesterday he celebrated his 68th birthday and if your family has a strong bond your Mom will pull through. You have just go to believe that it will happen. Also, keep talking to her. We talked to my Dad constantly even when he was in a coma and he did hear us because he would move his fingers when we said something. He doesn't remember anything about the hospital ICU visit now but it's probably better that way. My Dad is living proof that miracles do happen and I thank God that I got a second chance with him.

  6. After seeing those pics my stomach got that queezy feeling. WTF are these people thinking when they do this. Seriously, if it wasn't someone who is really hating on you it would suck to know that kids who have nothing better to do would take the time to do all that damage. Just amazing! I hope whoever did that gets caught and the book thrown at them - also post pics when you get the truck back from the body shop!

  7. my friend has DHM's and they are junk. The butterflies kept coming loose and DHM won’t warranty them. They were only 3 months old. He sold them and bought a pair of Race Ready Performance cutouts hasn’t had any problems ever since. I've been lookin at cutouts myself and race ready performances look like a quality product, lifetime warranty and all.

Funny, my DMH cutouts are warrantied for 4 years. Haven't needed the warranty yet and I'm going on at least 2 years with them. The other cutouts leaked and only had a 4 month warranty which is why I chose DMH in the first place.

  8. Agreed with the above. The Whipple unit by itself is a great s/c; it's the piss poor fuel management system that you have to get rid of. When I first bought mine (used as well on ebay) I hooked it up with the piggyback CPU and more detonation than I'm willing to admit to. I tried everything under the sun and every time I called Whipple they were real good at asking what code it threw and then told me that's normal and you have a problem with your PCM or engine -blaming everything but their crap electronics. I finally smartened up and ditched their POS Whippletronics (I still have it if you REALLY want it - don't think you will) and went with Delco Multitec 42 lbs marine injectors and a custom PCM tune from PCMforless and let's just say before the injectors my RWHP was a pathetic 278HP and after I dumped their crap I dynoed at 361RWHP; this is on a 2000 GMC Sierra with the 5.3L. You would see bigger gains on the 6.0L. For that price GET the Whipple and you'll have plenty $$ leftover for the injectors, PCM tune and headers. Good luck

  9. I have a Whipple on my 5.3L. Definitely without a doubt DON'T reuse the Whipple CPU and aux injectors. DO get the 42lb multitec injectors from ASM or used on the forum and get someone to tune your PCM for the added fuel. (I have a pcmforless tune and am very happy with it). Of course I also had it dyno tuned so get that done as well somewhere locally. You may have to change a few parts or modify some brackets from the H2 to get it to fit your SSS but again, DON'T believe what Whipple tells you. They have 0 customer service. You can junk those EGR sensors by the 02 sensors as well. They are part of the Whipple craptronics. Hope this helps a little. Also, as far as I know the 5.3 didn't use a boost a pump and the 6.0L did. You can verfiy if you have one by looking at your driver side inner frame rail (that's were you are supposed to mount their kit.

  10. In some states careless driving can be considered a misdemenor and requires a court appearance.  If that is the case for your state, look at who the prosecuting attorney is going to be.  Give them a call and explain the situation.  More than likely the prosecutor will know how big of a jerk these guys are and drop the violation down to a basic rule violation, which you should just be able to pay a fine and be on your way.  Does the ticket say that he has you on Radar or Laser?  You should be able to check public records in a few days to find out for sure.  You can also check to make sure he is up to date on all his radar/laser training.  If he isn't then you can get out of the ticket that way.  If that doesn't work, then try to reschedule your court date to the officer's day off.  I also believe that this is public record.  This way the officer will more than likely not show for the hearing and you will get out of the ticket.

I guess that varies state to state. The day I was scheduled the cop didn't and his buddy ended up working with me on the ticket. The judge was not going to throw it out even though the officer was clearly not there.
