Hey guys need a little help trans cooler
sprayed99 replied to MurderedSS's topic in AWD, Differential, & Transmission Tech
If it sticks closed it will act the same way as a closed thermostat. The fluid would never reach the cooler and would circulate back into the transmission ultimately causing extremely high fluid temps and possible damage to the transmission. -
Kind of like your "pen magnets don't work". You just have to be smarter than the tool you are using.

If it is a summer only driver the tru cool max would be fine. Until they stick then your screwed. Yes, I have seen it happen. -

I would look into a smaller cooler based on your location. The giant tru cool is not a good idea in frigid climates -
Its called elevation... Royale Purple Raceway is 10' and where he ran the track is 4200'. Your truck would run near the same time if you ran where he did on the same day. DA can be a bitch! This is a huge factor and why your track is one of the fastest in the world.

recently built meaning what? New rings? bearings? clean up hone? crank turned or just polished? It would be very helpful to have all the information posted.

Your problem is the lockup clutch and has nothing to do with 4th gear. Converter clutch is possibly shitting the bed or the valve body is worn from the steel lockup valve. I would lean more towards the converter clutch. If you keep driving it without fixing it, it will require a complete rebuild if it doesnt need it already.
