  1. Went to do a cam swap this weekend and had trouble getting the old cam out. Finally after what seemed like an hour Cody was able to get it out. The 4th journal on the cam, second from the back was black, like the bearing was getting really hot. We took a chance and put the new cam in hoping it would be ok, started it up, and the oil pressure was at 6 maybe 7. So we're pretty sure its a cam bearing. Going to get the motor out this week and look at my options.

You can see where this lobe was excessively worn. Cam has 30k on it. Maybe a bearing in the lifter? Or To much spring pressure? Running Patriot Duals. This is the only lobe with wear like this.

  2. from what i was told a person dones not. your truck will get plugged in and it is sent to an office type place where the ppl who really do it say if it pass or fails that is why jiffy lube can do it now

    Hey Brad

Im a state inspector. The biggest thing is having a certified inspection station, which we already did at the shop when I got certified. The light car/truck sticker certification is easy. The DOT big trucks is a little tougher.

  3. I was actually talking about James, it was his cam from his 5.3L before he blew the motor. I kept trying to tell him to put it in his ls2 but he was too wussy to do it. Anyway, g/l and get some vids up after install and tuning!

i believe that is Codys friend. Cody said it was in his friends 5.3l and cody sent it off to get refreshed. I guess its the same cam. I bet it is cody lives in round rock

  4. sounds like you and I have the same "friend" he doesnt happen to live in Georgetown does he? Lemme know how you like that cam...what size stall are you running?

If you talking about Cody. Yep. Hes taught me everything I know from genereal LSx to installs. I do all of his paint work. Hes had some pretty good builds, so I trust his judgement. He says with my stall it will be a good match with this cam

  5. Yep I actually read that thread the other day, just didn't put 2 in 2 together.

My converter flashes to around 3400 maybe a little higher. The guy that has the cam is a good friend of mine, and knows his stuff pretty good. He thinks it will be better than the cam I have now. I am talking strictly 1/4 mile times. Not street or anything.

You can see what it flashes to here

  7. A buddy of mine has a cam that I really want. But for me to afford it right now I would need to sell mine. Would anyone be interested in a 216/220 .586 .586 114+2 cam? I would think $275 OBO for the cam it has around 30,000 miles on it and never had a problem with it.

Remember this is a feeler thread, if I have someone that wants it I'll pull the trigger on it.

So would anyone be interested in my cam? Make an offer, if I like it I can ship this the day after the swap.

I also went 13.46 with this cam with LTs, 3200 stall, wheatley tune, stock injectors, and shift kit

  9. What kind of gains are to be had with the 3000 stall on nearly stock truck? Few tenths? Much quicker off the line? Sorry, kinda a hi-jack. I've never driven or ridden in anything with other than a stock tc. I have a TBTC sitting, is it going to make much difference or would I be better waiting and getting a 3000 stall?

I had a 3200 stall, long tube headers, and wheatley tune and ran a 13.78. That was when I had a stock cam. The stall dropped my 1/4 time .5 and I was cutting 1.85 60s

And I think a TB converter is like a 2400-2600 stall.

  10. I have a 2003 AWD SS. Black, 31,000 miles. It has a 414ci stroker motor, put down 496rwhp. ARH Headers, Edelbrock ProFlow XT Intake, fuel system etc. Also lowered 2 inches. In excellent condition. $18,500

Now that sounds like a hell of a deal!

  11. I'm currently using torsion keys to drop the front of my truck 2" and I want to go with a pair of control arms instead.

I want to know if I have to change replace my shocks also. I'm currently using belltech lowering shocks that work with the stock control arms, but the DJM control arms look like they have a different shock mount in the pics online.

    Thanks

Are you going to sell your torsion keys?
