shootingshark
Well I finally got the new diff installed yesterday. part # 15123421:axle assembly The tech noted that the old diff had metal in oil internal gears torn up and loose in carrier. The first thing I have noticed is that the wheel turns easier and I have a better turning radius than before. There is a very slight ,very slight growl still there. I would say this is probably a much more normal awd on dry pavement sound as I do not feel any feedback through the steer ing wheel like I could before. I feel today as though this is the solution, but who knows 10 or 15k down the road. The service manager told me that the new diff will be warranteed for 36k. so I'll post some results over time. They also replaced my center caps on my wheels because the chrome was flaking off. part#15197885 for the painted wheels.
A2Blue
Thanks for that update, shootingshark. Please keep us posted. Any suspicions that this new diff is different - model, updates, etc, or just a new version of the OEM one? Good luck with it!
shootingshark
The service mgr told me that there is no difference in the new diff mechanically. He told me that they are built on a one at a time as they are needed basis. I'm not quite sure what he meant, it came out of CT. based on the info on work order.
