SS--BLOWN Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 Reposting this information from another thread, with a new question. Production of 2003 models was about 10,200. 2004 models dropped by almost exactly 50% to 5098. Here is what the Quality Operations Manager of the Oshawa, Ontario plant (where all SSSs are built) wrote me about the 2005 run to date: "From July 19, 2004 through December 2004 we built 1051 SS Trucks. The weekly average is about 50. When the program started 2 years ago we were building 6% or 86 per day." At this rate, the total 2005 production run may not even hit 2,500 vehicles--at least another 50% decline from the previous year. Based on this, could GM pull the plug on the SSS in 2006? Michael
CoolBlueSS Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 If they do, it'll just make ours worth more.
quickmedic1 Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 With gas prices don't hold your breathe on that.
04CHASE Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 thats ok, i like having a truck that you dont see everyday, well i do see one everyday almost.
sky-raptor Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Doesn't matter for me ... I will just build one (Reg Cab)
r8rs4lf Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Good, I hope they stop making them anyway! That way ours may go up in value or at least make them something someone might want to buy in the future from us. They should have never started with the 2005 models anyway, cloth bench seat....................YUK!!!!!!!! Late- Alex
Dylan06SS Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 should've pulled the plug before the bean counters got their hands on it and bastardized it w/ cloth seats! My guess is it'll continue as long as the current silverado body style does and disappear w/ the redesign... then probably come back a couple of years into the new design.... just a guess, but it would follow the GM trend.
BryzSS Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 I know that people aren't serious when they say that our trucks will go up in value, maybe better to say that it might stop losing value as fast. Are there any specs, production numbers, resale values of the old 91 454 SS? I know the two vehicles are difficult to compare, but I don't think we should hold our breath for any equity in these trucks. Maybe in 25 years you could sell it for $20K when our engines will be prehistoric gas hungry beasts! ~ Brian
Dylan06SS Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Equity in any car is rare... cars are not an investment... houses gain equity. cars don't... except for some very rare exceptions.
cwest94 Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 I sort of hope they do stop the production of the Silverado SS. I think if they do our's would not depreciate in value so fast like they have. Plus I like knowing there isn't that many on the roads, makes mine a little more special.
erice Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 I like to have vehicles that you dont see in every parking lot. So the lowere numbers dont bother me. I would like to see them keep making them in lower numbers with more HP or a factory supercharger.
Firered Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 I have only seen a few SS silverados in Pittsburgh so far hopefully it will stay like that.
Orion231 Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Well, I dunno about just rare vehicle going up in value. I smile everytime I check Kelly Blue Book for my 87 GN...it keeps going up, and up and up... I figure when 2007 rolls around and it becomes a 20 year classic, it'll go up even more. If they stopped making the SSS, I wouldn't mind. I just don't want to see them get watered down, or mass produced. Still smile everytime I see my new 05 SS in the garage...
haul@ss Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 is it just me, or a lot of things getting repeated over and over again in this thread? no disrespect or anything.. i just found it kinda funny?
