My SS has been in and out of the dealership for couple of months now. :banghead: I am on leave now, And I dropped her off before I left. I called my service manager today and Bad news. From what I understood, The valves are sticking causing misfires. I was told that they are going to remove the heads and have to machine something down. :dunno: I belive it has something to do with what the valves sit in, Not sure was to distressed to really pay attention. :tear: Thrusday morning I will pick it up, They told me they will have to schedual it for a week to correct the problem. I will post the full service report when I get it. Should I be pushing them to replace the heads entirely, Or even the engine? How can I trust a repair like this? Or even worse should I start looking in to a 2005 lightning? If I took all of the fords I have owned and combined the amount of time they spent in the shop it would even be a quarter of the time the SS has spent in the shop. :ughdance: I am really depressed about this. Help. Advice please.

If you think the shop time is bad on the SS wait till you see the shop time on the 2005 Lightning I hear they are tagged with "Little Assembly Required" but with the right tools and know how you could build your own ..... ummmmm no 2005 Lighting to be made sorry.

All joking aside ... you are kinda having some trouble with your truck ... if I remember right ... didn't you get some trouble out of your velocity stack and those platinum plugs? I wonder if that had anything to do with your current problem? Thinking harder didn't your dealer just tell you they were false codes? How much do you trust him? Just throwing some ideas out there .... hope your SS gets well soon. Keep your head up and those FORD thoughts out of your head.

Dont do the ford thing! Just remember driving fords is like the special olympics, you might win a race here or there but at the end of the day you are still retarded. :D:chevy:

My advice - that's bullshit - they should remove and replace that engine with a replacement LQ9 motor, it would only take them one day's labor.

My mother in 1994 bought a new GMC pickup, and it had a defective valvetrain from the word go, you could really hear it with a stethescope. I advised her to have the dealer replace the obviously defective powerplant, and she was able to easily talk the dealer into R&R-ing the engine the next day (they had a crate 350TBI in stock).

Sorry to hear you are having to deal with this. I hope you can get it worked out.

Mr. P. :)

Edit - my point is, you did not buy a rebuilt vehicle, you bought a new vehicle and drove it off the lot under the impression that it was not factory defective. That engine is warrantied and should be replaced.

must be something with that alaska oil or too much idling time. i think a supercharger will fix that. :jester:

What would cause sticking valves?  Gummed up combustion chamber???

I belive thats what he said.

You know what that means? Your right foot is too light.

You know have a doctors note to drive fast all the time!:driving::devil::crackup:

On a serious note, I remember something about mixing your own gas? Did you go forward with that?

Well, It definitly is not my driving. If I dont hit the red line I am not happy. My fuel economy says it all.LOL And no I never mixed any additive to my fuel. All I use is 90 octane from Chevron. I am going to pick her up in a bit. Will have more info later. Have a good day. :flag:
