colin03ss Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Hey guys, When I picked up my 03 SS from the dealer it had 384 miles onit and the gas milage gage read 9.2. I have had it for 3 weeks now and the gage reads 12.2. How good of gas milage can I expect tto get and should I say anything to the dealer about them doging the truck out?
haynss Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 stock i would say you can expect about 13 city and maybe 16-17 highway, but then it depends on how you drive. With my mods i get about 11 city if im good and 15 highway.
SSplaytoy Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Had mine a year and haven't seen 10 mpg yet. Stuck on 9.4 mpg.
andrew5 Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 i get 12.6 around town.i just did a 1900 mile trip and averaged 14.5 on highway at a 76 mph average speed.not good but the smiles per gallon is what counts for me.the truck ran perfect and broke many necks.
m396 #00-011 Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 My CPU will read about 11mpg, but if I check it manualy, it's more like 10mpg. Too much
misterp Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 We were comparing mileage a few months ago (search for the thread) and a several enthusiastic supercharged guys were still getting better than 10.5. My SS is bone stock, and I flog the piss out of it daily for the last six months and still average 13. Even a couple weeks in tow-haul mode only dropped it to 12.3. My take on it - something is not right with the powertrain, or guage (computer), or both, I would get it looked at. Bad gas, maybe?? Mr. P.
thallent Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 I bought mine with about 300 miles on it also. At the dealerships they often leave the truck/car running while some is looking at it or in it telling them about other features. Could just have alot of idle time. When I picked mine up it was around 9 something. Now with 22k it runs between 12.5-13 city and 17-18 highway.
jboyd2004 Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 You know you can reset the mpg, right? Then you can see how it does with just you driving. When I left the dealership, mine had 117 miles on it and 9.7 mpg. I just reset it. I got rid of the early average. I stay around 13 always. I would just reset it. Just my opinion...
ChevySSandChevy8.1 Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 depends how you drive, I usually see around 10 and 16 highway. It just depends on how you wanna use your right foot.
jboyd2004 Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 How do you reset it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You scroll through your menu until your avg mpg is shown. Hold the return button on the lower right of the steering wheel for 3-5 secs or so and it will reset the running avg.
colin03ss Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 Thanks guys. New here so dont mind me if I ask some stupid questions.
erice Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 The best I had gotten with mine was 16hwy, I put intake and exhaust and it before x-mas and the computer gave me 18.5 average on my drive from KC to Houston. On the way back I was in a headwind and only got 14 so I'm not sure what it will really be. Both trips my avg speed was in the high 70s.
SuperDave Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 You really should read your owners manual, I learned a lot of stuff there! I'm getting around 14 in City and 16~17 on the highway. Not great... but better than my 1991 Silverado and a lot more fun to drive!
